and race-shaming voters!
My friend Mark came to our bi-weekly breakfast in his new Tesla. All-electric vehicles are now cool for Republicans because … Elon Musk. “I was playing Kid Rock in your honor,” Mark jibed.
Such is the abuse up with which Blaska must put for voting Libertarian instead of Trump — or Kamala, for that matter. We take consolation that now that Trump won, American elections are honest again and losers can concede. Funny how that works.
On behalf of the bitter enders on the other side, Dave Zweifel of Madison’s Capital Times concedes nothing. Kamala Harris lost because:
Unfortunately, she was a woman and a black one at that. His voters deny that had anything to do with it, but the facts are pretty clear.
So clear are the facts, apparently, that the editor emeritus does not feel compelled to present any. Like Trump’s claim of a stolen election four years ago — plenty of theories, just no evidence.

Feelings, whoa whoa whoa
Not facts! We do know— for a fact — that the Wisconsin my old boss disparages as racist twice chose Barack Obama. Just this week the woman-hating electorate voted for one Tammy Baldwin for U.S. Senator. For the third time. Maybe helped that she gave the cold shoulder to Joe Biden when he campaigned here in Madison WI, when he was still a candidate. BTW: Trump won a majority of white women, nationally.
For good measure, the editor emeritus quotes, not Democrats like Ruy Teixeira or even Rahm Emanuel, but the publisher of The Nation magazine, Katrina vanden Heuvel. The pro-Hamas magazine that says “Sex workers are trying to warn us about Project 2025.” (Um, maybe we were pre-occupied.)
Dave betrays another attribute of the victim culture, a refusal to take responsibility for one’s Fk-ups.
Maybe Democrats beat themselves
What is remarkable about Dave’s piece, headlined “He’s a monster, but we elected Trump anyway,” is the absence of the barest hint of introspection. Even today’s Sunday New York Times — which just a week ago went gaga for Kammy — took stock, with a clarifying dose of castor oil. A sampling:
• “Harris failed to read the room”
• “Democrats walked into a trap Republicans set for them”
• “The Democrat(ic) blind spot that wrecked 2024”
• “Will Democrats finally pay attention to the working class?”
Tune in next week! In “How Democrats helped Trump,” Ross Douthat blames the Joe Biden bait and switch:
Kamala Harris … was just not the candidate that a political party would put up if it took its own rhetoric about the existential stakes of the election seriously.
However belatedly, NY Times columnist Maureen Dowd holds “A wake for the Woke.” (Print headline)
The party embraced a worldview of hyper-political correctness, condescension, and cancellation. It supported diversity statements for job applicants and faculty lounge terminology like “Latinx” and “BIPOC.”
“When the Woke police come at you,” Rahm Emanuel told me, “you don’t even get your Miranda rights read to you.”
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Maybe Dave Zweifel is just playing to his base. Like U.S. Rep. Richie Torres, D-NY, says, “Trump has no greater friend than the far Left.”

Good-bye Kari Lake. May we never hear from her again. Doubt it, but one can hope.
