Failure ain’t cheap

But progressives want to double down on more of the same!

One might think that a poolside party atop the almost brand new, aptly named Lux apartment high rise on a warm evening in June might — as the guilt-ridden do gooders like to say — “build community.”

Instead, 12 young people ranging in age from 14 to 23 were injured after party goers started shooting. Just one of three shootings over the second weekend of June 2024 here in Madison WI. Judging by the interviews television news conducted with relatives, it may prove that victims and perpetrators are minority races despite the best efforts of progressives to break the bank to subsidize affordable housing, build neighborhood centers, and “reform the justice system.”

 Parents, not programs

The MSNBC/NPR crowd is lighting tiki torches for black Republican congressman Byron Donalds for pointing out that, as monstrous as Jim Crow was, it did not sabotage black family structure as much as the good intentions of LBJ’s Great Society. An inconvenient truth that Daniel Patrick Moynihan first enunciated in the 1970s. Yes, until 1940, the black marriage rate exceeded the white rate, black author Jason L. Riley writes in Please Stop Helping Us.

Please Stop Helping Us examines how bad public policy has undermined the work ethic, interfered with black self- development, and kept poor blacks poor. [The book] asks why would anyone study hard in school if they are held to lower standards? Why change anti-social behaviors when they are accommodated by law and even celebrated in popular culture?

Long after the civil rights battles were fought and won, liberalism remains much more committed to making excuses for black underachievement than in reevaluating efforts to help. … Soft-on-crime laws actually make black neighborhoods far more dangerous.

Won’t stop the well paid diversity, equity, and inclusion shame mongers from blaming history. Or social justice warriors from demanding reparations, more GPS ankle monitors, and fewer police officers.

 Today’s lesson: Victimhood

Given the age of the Lux poolside victims and likely attackers, it is fair to question how badly bollixed is public education, long ago captured by critical race theorists. Unabashed, MMSD is now asking taxpayers for a staggering $600 million in permanent and one-time spending via two referenda this November. On top of a $589 million operating budget. It is a school district still beholden to former superintendent Jennifer Cheatham’s dictum that absenteeism, lunchroom brawls, and illiteracy can be explained by racist white people. Our public schools, having expelled police four years ago for making minority students feel “unsafe,” still teach victimhood rather than accountability.

Just last month, school employees harassed police who were called to La Follette high school to take down an 18-year-old criminally inclined student for carrying a loaded Glock 9 mm handgun. (Read & Weep.) School employees!

Blaska’s Bottom Line: A certain former mayor speculates that enough Madison homeowners will balk at forking over an additional $1,300 annually for dumbed down schools and vote (out of spite or otherwise) for the political party that is doing its best to defund DEI, keep our streets safe, and help families escape government-run schools. In our battleground state, this liberal apostate speculates, voters disgusted with the drift in Madison schools might elect Donald Trump.

Would more government spending cure social dysfunction?

The inimitable Bonnie Roe (A Gotch pal & Tomato customer) had the temerity to post of THIS at neighborsnextdoor (THEY report/YOU decide!)

Then, in an effort to deflect from a fact-based Reality and promote Nothing_To_See_Here_It_Isn’t_What_It_Is, some cluelessly despicable Lefty (forgive the redundancy) pivots to Ed Gein.

THAT kind of STOOPID (sic) should be acknowledged by SEVERE PAIN!

I wonder if any of them lied on a form to get their guns. Maybe they are MAGA and refuse to tell the government anything about their drugs or guns.

If you listen to Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway all these problems will be solved by the State enacting new gun control laws. No one ever tells us what or how the new laws would keep guns out of criminal hands. I wonder if anyone can see how many people in Dane County get charged with firearm (gun) law violations vs. how many actually get prosecute on those charges. I would think not many. So if the Dane County DA’s office doesn’t prosecute people on current firearms( gun) laws why would new laws change anything? Someone in Delaware was just convicted for lying on an Federal gun form but I’m sure the people involved in the three weekend shootings in Madison didn’t legally purchase their firearms (guns).

It’s fun watching the (conservatives???) on faux tie themselves in knots about Hunter Biden. While trump threatens judges, lawyers, their families, etc. Biden is a baddddddd man who needs to be jailed at days end. Where’s the outrage? The daily comments and speeches?

I wonder how often conservatives will scream “No one is above the law!” now that Hunter’s been convicted. They’ll have a long way to go to surpass the liberals who endlessly screamed those words in the wake of Trump’s conviction.

You have a problem with “no one is above the law?” Maybe Biden supporters should have flooded the courthouse and threaten the judge, his staff, the lawyers and the jury.

Funny we don’t hear the gun rights lobby whining about the verdict, which could be overturned on appeal. Haven’t heard that “thoughts and prayers” trope lately, either.

The latest person to die by gunshot in Madison, WI? An unfortunate soul running from a barfight at the Crystal Corners on Willie Street a few nights ago.

          But…”guns don’t kill people.”

The ex-Mayor’s comments are spot on. If the referenda go forward Trump wins and he will proceed to turn Madison into a giant reeducation camp! /s

The Trump boogeyman won’t work. Even DC or Deke Rivers or Soglin just opposing it in plain English won’t work for they are old white men.

Gosh! Think that might be because federal law was BROKEN by a scumbag drug addict with fake teeth (the real ones rotted from drug use), a sexual degenerate who knocked up a stripper, f****d his brother’s wife while his brother was dying from brain cancer, AND got his dying brother’s skank wife hooked on crack.

Hunty’s a lawyer; didn’t he know that doing crack is illegal? Wasn’t he smart enough to not schtup a ‘Ho without protection? Didn’t he know falsifying a gun purchase form is A_VIOLATION_OF_FEDERAL_LAW?

When this needle-d!cked POS gets a whiff of doing some real time (his prison nickname will be Pin Cushion), don’t be surprised if he rolls on Dementia-JoKe, who will then be deemed too dim-witted to stand trial.

    Hypocrisy; they name is Lefty!
