Resistance takes many forms

Many of them, counter-productive!

Encountered an anti-Trump demonstration massing at James Madison Park on the shores of Lake Mendota, Saturday 04-19-25. Likely headed for Wisconsin’s beautiful state capitol a few blocks away. We kept driving. Good on the city’s daily newspaper for devoting not one pica of soybean-based ink to the rally, protest demonstrations being more common in Madison WI than clap in a college dormitory.

We doubt these mass hissy fits change a single mind. Their utility, if any, is to satisfy the desire to Do Something, which is at loggerheads with James Carville’s advice to allow Trump/Vance to sink of its own weight.

U.S. Sen. Van Hollen

 Planks need to be walked

A few are taking more direct action. The FBI arrested Milwaukee Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan on two felony counts for trying to hide a once-deported illegal alien in the courthouse. “We believe Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested,” a text from Kash Patel claims.

[Brer Rabbit UPDATE: “Dems condemn Milwaukee judge’s arrest; Republicans call for her removal.” — WisPolitics]

Up at Fort McCoy, its commandant has been relieved of her duties after turning photographs of Trump, Vance, and Hegseth against the wall. That IS insubordination.

As much as the Werkes supports due process, we do have trouble reconciling thousands of hearings and the inevitable appeals on behalf of people who came here illegally in the first place. But at least the judge and the colonel put skin in the game on behalf of their values. More courageous than keying a Tesla, we suppose.

 Let’s get real

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the wife-beater from Maryland who now resides in El Salvador (aka “Margaritaville”), represents a stupid hill upon which to die. But by gawd if U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen isn’t determined to lead the lemmings over the side to remind voters why they chose Trump/Vance. Why are progressive heroes always victims? (George Floyd, Jussie Smollett, anyone?)

A certain 34-year dues-paying RINO fears the Ragin’ Cajun’s prescription may take. The President is kowtowing to Putin and whipsawing our ill-gotten 401k. His stolen election lie has unleashed the Sirens of Stupid. MAGAts stuff our Werkes’ social media feed with claims that:

• JFK was assassinated because he tried to kill the Federal Reserve — just like Trump!
• Islam as a religion is prohibited in the United States.
• Ukraine released kickback figures (including $77 million to Liz Cheney.) Now why would they do that?
• Trump “was recently nominated for a Nobel peace prize.” (By Putin, maybe!)

Why do we criticize Trump, my MAGA friends? Because true conservatism sees the world as it is, not the fantasy of “to each according to his needs” (we say “wants”) or boys in the girls’ locker room. Our Republican party has its own idiocies. The President fires the head of cyber security for refusing to lie that the 2000 election was stolen. MAGA faithful blame Nancy Pelosi for not ringing the Capitol with bayonets drawn on January 6. Here in Wisconsin, that stolen-election lie motivates the jihad against our Republican speaker of the Assembly, Robin Vos. Now a good senator, Ron Johnson, is questioning the providence of 9/11!

The Werkes is renting a booth at the May 16-17 Republican state convention outside Wausau to display several triggering posters, including the one shown. (We have a couple co-conspirators; looking for more!)

Blaska’s Bottom Line: We’re saying what most Republicans already know but fear to utter. Reaction should be interesting.

Will Blaska survive the GOP state convention?

I assume your question–“Why are progressive heroes always victims?–is rhetorical since the answer is obvious: Because it allows progressives to pose (the one thing they do well) as their rescuers. As for the “protest” last Saturday: it was as predictable as dandelions sprouting on your lawn at this time of year–and about as annoying. Pure performance art. The one thing I always find myself experiencing when witnessing these spectacles: “Imagine being them.” Followed by a shudder. Finally, kudos for Kash. I just hope he’s prepared to be the next target of progressive ire–once they get tired of whaling on Hegseth.

Patel put a big post on X, then deleted it. FBI has no comment
. Typical Donny appointee. Telling us it was a clerical error in 3 2 1…. Santos just got 7 years; large donation and a pardon in 5 4 3 2 1. Hegseth got a new make up room. Meals on wheels has funding cut. And you wonder why people are hating on Dementia Don? Better start looking for Ron Johnson’s replacement.

      “Santos just got 7 years; large donation and a pardon in 5 4 3 2 1.”

Now do scumbag Bob Menendez, who was literally for sale to foreign government influence. The Democrats and their big media sycophants howled about Santos and were oddly quiet about Menendez, even though his crimes were several orders of magnitude worse.

“Better start looking for Ron Johnson’s replacement.”

Yeah, we heard that in his last two election cycles. How’d that work out? Wisconsin Democrats could probably beat him with a reasonable moderate with a bit of name recognition. Problem is, they have almost none of those left in their party. Mandela was no Mandela.
