Blaska Policy Werkes

NY Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch at the dedication of the 9/11 police memorial: “Preserving that history means also preserving that moral clarity that the men who attacked this city were terrorists, the men and women who ran into that towers to save lives were heroes. 25 years cannot be allowed to blur that distinction and shame on those who do.”

  • The election is over; so is 2016. We are ready for some major football!

And Keith Richards is still alive. Not human, but still alive. The indentured servants, pitchforks hoisted, have taken over Stately Blaska Manor and commandeered its bank of hi-def televisions in the pursuit of vicarious glory by watching highly skilled athletes batter themselves senseless. No, not politics — football! The servants’ simple but non-negotiable demand is…

  • Trump derangement syndrome — it ain’t pretty but it can be cured

“Well off white guy” Paul Fanlund, as he describes himself, is not the only victim. Many here in the Emerald City have fallen victim to the heartbreak of post-traumatic Trump Derangement Syndrome. It is a debilitating disease, affecting the cerebral cortex where reason is formed. Sticky notes on tables, safety pins and safe places, crying,…

  • Hope you had a Stately Manor Christmas

Twas the day before Christmas when the Squire was awoken with a THUMP! No, it was not the jolly fat man. (He had been fast asleep.) It was, instead, the sound made by a sheet of snow six inches-deep cascading off the new metal roof (40-year warranty!). The manor is now surrounded by a big,…

  • The problem with race and gender studies is … they promote hate

I see a hand up in the back row. Yes, young sir. Your question, please. • This is her America, people! She said so herself!

The white lab coats here at the Policy Werkes have put under the electron microscope this photograph, a screen shot taken from NBC News. It shows a woman engorged with the righteous indignation that Madison liberal progressive socialists have mustered through years of marching down State Street and banging drums in the Capitol whenever they…

  • America elects a President this Monday

The people have spoken. Now the College of Electors will decide. Wisconsin’s 10 presidential electors meet at high noon today, Monday 12-19-16, in the State Capitol to perform their quadrennial duty: the election of a president of the UnitedStates. Donald Trump surprised everyone by winning Wisconsin and a majority of states for a decisive 306 to 232…

After 9/11

The urge to blame America and stop it from responding began immediately.

In the years after 9/11, blaming America for the activities of Islamic terrorists became a mania among left-tilting scribblers the world over. When they couldn’t reasonably attach culpability to America—because the attack happened in France or Spain, which consistently oppose U.S. interventions—the enlightened blamed America’s stand-in, Israel. Somehow the jihadists always lacked agency.  …

The war on terror launched in the days afterward involved innumerable blunders and still invites derision from the globe’s expert class. But a quarter-century later, the country hasn’t sustained another strike of similar proportions, and the terror networks that once produced fighters by the thousand have had their leaders killed, their money frozen and their recruits severely pruned.

America wouldn’t, and couldn’t, consent to live with the madmen. — Barton Swaim, Wall Street Journal

Political stupidity

Another election season is upon us. … One party is hoisting monuments to a fading 80-year-old president who hasn’t done much except get America stuck in another Middle East war while attacking the nice Canadians to our north with irrational tariffs and weird hockey memes. The other is making sweeping promises to do something about the “cost-of-living crisis” through massive government spending and price caps with scant reflection on why they didn’t address the high cost of living just a few short years ago when they had control of government. — John Halpin, “The emptiness of contemporary politics
