If Donald Trump could quit lying about losing his last election he would be headed for a landslide victory in this one. (There’s still time!) Because the progressivism he’s running against has been disproven, repudiated, and shamed. When you think about it, what has Election Denial gotten Donald Trump except the defections of half his cabinet, many of his high-level aides, a batch of retired generals, various Bushes and Cheneys, his own Veep, and Wisconsin’s own Paul Ryan and Mike Gallagher?  

Which is why it’s a coin-flip of an election.

The Kamala Harris/Joe Biden administration has been a disaster of Jimmy Carter proportions — on the economy, foreign affairs, and the culture. Remarkably, Sleepy Joe’s Veep promises nothing different. “There is not a thing that comes to mind.” Sounds like Curly of the Three Stooges, who sputtered, “I’m trying to think but nutttin’s happenin‘!”)

The news pages of even the New York Times confesses:

“Ms. Harris has not explicitly acknowledged any distance from the part’s Left flank.”

 Bernie & AOC — the gift that keeps on giving

Indeed, comrade John Nichols of the defund-the-police Capital Times and The [pro-Hamas] Nation magazine brays in Madison’s Sunday paper that Bernie “Sanders and AOC are backing Harris, Walz.”

“The progressive leaders delivered a message to supporters of economic, social, and racial justice … to an enthusiastic crowd that packed the Overture Center’s Capitol Theater (seats 1,089),” he cheers.

Anything with the suffix “justice” is a dog whistle for socialism and/or identity politics (aka DEI). Might still play in Madison WI, but pretty much everywhere else, “Identity politics is losing its grip on the country,” the New York Times reports.

Identity-focused progressive solutions … were never broadly popular. … By the middle of the 2020 primary, Democrats were engaged in policy debates that no voters asked for … [featuring] candidates declaring support for slashing law enforcement funding, repealing laws that made unauthorized border crossings illegal, and ending private health insurance.

Rahm Emanuel, former senior adviser to Presidents Clinton and Barack Obama [said] many in his party incorrectly assumed that most voters were sympathetic to slogans like ‘defund the police’ despite rising crime rates.

Or invoking climate change alarmism to mandate electric vehicles. Or taxpayer-funded sex change operations for prison inmates. (The ACLU approves!)

In blue Colorado — not exactly a border state — Democrat(ic) congresswoman Yadira Caraveo says one thing to her sister hispanics “but in debates with her Republican challenger and on the airwaves …Mrs. Caraveo has been sending a very different message … criticizing the Biden administration for failing to crack down on illegal immigrations and vowing to get tough on the border if she keeps her House seat.” We suspect Bernie and AOC have not been invited to stump for Rep. Caraveo.

 ‘Red ink is gushing’ 

In deep blue, war-torn Chicago, the NY Times reports that Mayor Brandon Johnson, who hosted the Democrats’ nominating convention, “hewed to [the] teachers’ union agenda. Now the red ink is gushing.” (That’s the print edition headline.) “Chicago public schools used one-time federal Covid-19 relief money to hire thousands of teachers … even as students enrollment shrunk.“

Sound familiar, Madison WI? As a residue of Harris/Biden economics, city government is asking voters to approve a perpetual $22 million boost in property taxes. More ambitiously, our public schools want to blow past revenue limits by $100 million/year into infinity and beyond, plus another $507 million to build out half-empty schools.

Indeed, the Biden/Harris $1.9 Trillion blow-out goosed the cost of living by 20% since. Sen. Tammy Baldwin and Madison-area Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Hamas) voted lockstep for the so-called American Rescue Plan with other Democrats and against border security. As did AOC and Bernie. 

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Cannot vote for an insurrectionist. He will have to win without Blaska and despite Ol’ Sparky’s predictions, probably will. We’ll get a pie in the kisser either way.

Anyone still think progressives can govern?
