And we are fighting back!
At parochial school in Sun Prairie WI during the late 1950s, the Weekly Catholic Reader carried a graphic feature portraying bad times in 1930s Italy. In one frame, an Italian boy pleads with Mussolini’s blackshirts, “Gimme back my rosary!”
A certain farm boy wondered then if he had what it took to stand up to totalitarians. He’s still wondering but recognizes courage when it stands before him — heroes like Alexei Navalny. Putin’s poison couldn’t kill the man. In an act of courage begging for stone monuments and inspiring anthems, Navalny returned to mother Russia, was immediately imprisoned, exiled to Arctic Siberia where he died for Putin’s sins.
His prison guards, turning off their recording devices, asked him why he had come back, he said. “I don’t want to give up either my country or my beliefs.” Mr. Navalny wrote in a Jan. 17 Facebook post to mark the third anniversary of his return and arrest in 2021, “I cannot betray either the first or the second.”
“If your beliefs are worth something, you must be willing to stand up for them. And if necessary, make some sacrifices.”
— New York Times
Neither Trump nor Biden are inevitable! We can do better!
Which is why we are disappointed in Mike Gallagher for quitting. The Princeton graduate, a Marine Corps intelligence officer, might be the smartest man in Washington and among the most principled. But the Trumpies call him a Republican In Name Only (RINO). The scuttlebutt is the man is weary of Washington dysfunction. More likely, blame the condemnations from county Republican parties for not voting impeachment on Alejandro Mayorkas. All the more reason to stay at your post until you’re carried out like Crockett and Bowie from the Alamo.
Former GOP chairman feared Trump blackshirts
The former chairman of the Wisconsin Republican Party tells a CBS news program that he signed on as a so-called “fake elector” after the 2020 election loss “out of fear for his safety from the candidate’s supporters.”
In a clip provided to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel by 60 Minutes,” Andrew Hitt says he was scared of what Trump supporters would do to him or his family if he did not sign the paperwork and courts later overturned President Joe Biden’s victory in Wisconsin. “Throughout this time, got several phone calls to my office that my secretary relayed to me demanding to know my exact location … so it was a volatile time, and our electors were worried, and so was I.”
The Werkes published threats of violence from a Trump-derangement victim to demonstrate the campaign of intimidation epitomized by the assault on the Capitol 01-06-21.
Hitt has pledged not to vote for Trump in 2024. He has company: Paul Ryan, Michael Grebe, Waupun mayor Rohn Bishop, Speaker Robin Vos, former state COP chairman Andrew Hitt, Kenneth Chesebro, former congressman Reid Ribble, and others.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Wisconsin knows better. Blaska is looking for just two known Republicans to co-sign a 500-word diatribe that we would submit to the daily newspaper as an op-ed.

A simple question for all anti Trumpers……if and when the election is between Biden and Trump, who will you choose? Trump is a bully and extremely obnoxious at times (ok, most of the time) but which candidate will you choose? Trump at least improved the lives of millions of Americans whereas Biden has improved the lives of the Biden’s and most Democrats. Unfortunately, any vote for anyone other than Trump or Biden will most likely assure another 4 years of Biden and those unseen faces behind the scenes who are really running and ruining America. Until a valid and legitimate 3rd party emerges we are stuck with a binary choice.
How has Trump “improved the lives of millions of Americans”, Mike?
You should be able to tally MANY MILLIONS whose lives were bettered, mostly in under-served demographics; to wit:
Pre PLANdemic Coronavirus
*America gained 7 million new jobs—more than three times government experts’ projections
*Middle-class family income increased nearly $6,000—more than five times the gains during the entire previous administration
*The unemployment rate reached 3.5 percent, the lowest in a half-century
*Achieved 40 months in a row with more job openings than job hirings
*More Americans reported being employed than ever before—nearly 160 million
Jobless claims hit a nearly 50-year low
*The number of people claiming unemployment insurance as a share of the population hit its lowest level on record
*Incomes rose in every single metro area in the United States for the first time in nearly three decades
Delivered a future of greater promise and opportunity for citizens of all backgrounds
*Unemployment rates for African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans, Native Americans, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and those without a high school diploma all reached record lows
*Unemployment for women hit its lowest rate in nearly 70 years
*Nearly 7 million people were lifted off of food stamps
Poverty rates for African Americans and Hispanic Americans reached record lows
*Income inequality fell for two straight years—and by the largest amount in over a decade
*The bottom 50 percent of American households saw a 40 percent increase in net worth
*Wages rose fastest for low-income and blue-collar workers—a 16 percent pay increase
*African American homeownership increased from 41.7 percent to 46.4 percent
Brought jobs, factories, and industries back to the USA
*Created more than 1.2 million manufacturing and construction jobs
*Put in place policies to bring back supply chains from overseas
*Small business optimism broke a 35-year-old record in 2018

Smashed ISIS, whacked Soleimani and Al Baghdadi.
NB: many of Gotch’s employment, and economic successes have all been reversed by importing so many illegals to depress wages and increase costs to the taxpayers.
Made the rich pay more income tax through SALT.
Why the asterisks, Gotch? Care to name some sources? You once posted on this blog months ago that you wished Trump would “go away”. I’m guessing you’ve since changed your mind.
“Why the asterisks”
To make it easier for the Trump Deranged to follow.
“Care to name some sources?”
The Gotch isn’t your research monkey, any figures you question should be pretty easy to refute, am I right.
“You once posted on this blog months ago that you wished Trump would ‘go away’”
The Gotch (be still his heart!) is flattered beyond words you’re not only a fan, but commit some of his musings to memory. FWIW, he doesn’t think he’s all that, but there’s no reason to argue with an adoring public, am I right
TDS makes ordinarily intelligent people (a group in which he believes you belong) make extraordinarily ludicrous claims (see your above) while embracing a comically willful blindness toward, and denial of, anything which might violate the Orange Man BAAAAAAD narrative (see your follow-up).
Anywho, a few more [asterisks gratis]; try not to…um…OVERREACT

Did you get all this from the same FBI agent who has lied and been charged with perjury about Biden?
Plus, he lives in a 36,000 sq ft condo worth 7.5 trillion dollars.
Not voting for either no matter what. To say that, if it comes down those two I will vote for one of them, only perpetuates the Hobson’s choice.
Mike,
I wouldn’t choose either Biden or Trump, I think both of them are excrement and we the people of the United States of America should openly and firmly REJECT them both.
and replace them with whom?
I’m an independent that leans right and I vote for either of these past two Madison WI Democrat mayors Dave Cieslewicz or Paul Soglin over Biden or Trump, at least both of them weren’t extreme lefties and had some common sense. Until a month or so ago, I would have voted for Chris Christie until the only thing he offered in the primary was not being Trump, he could still get my vote if nominated but he needs to get back to his core politics. I could also vote for either Paul Ryan, Scott Walker, Tommy Thompson or Scott McCallum if the chose to run.
Any more questions?
What is Rump’s agenda? The 4 year plan is what? Besides his whining and victimhood what is the gop plan?
Mike, you make a good point. I’m no fan of Trump either but there’s no way I’ll vote for Biden or Harris, or whoever they trot out.
why?
Hey kids! Join RINO’S for Biden. The Koch Brothers will send you a Make America Meh hat, a decoder ring and a left over Lincoln Project tee shirt.
Start a career with the wise men and women who gave you Romney, McCain, GWB and his Dad and, by extension, both Clintons and Obama.
Don’t forget the 8.4 trillion he added to our national debt.
Navalny being killed by Putin doesn’t make sense at this point. He was already a martyr but now he’s a bigger martyr in death. Putin would know this is result so why would he do it?
Alternatively who would gain from making Putin look more evil?
Joe Biden would. People crave stability in the face of a threat.
Who would lose?
Tucker Carlson. He’s already painted as a Putin apologist for doing the interview. And Tucker is a Trump supporter and possible VP candidate.
You’re a troll.
“You’re a troll.”
Bravo Indigo November Golf Oscar!!!

There you go Gotch (and Mad Ex Pat): using facts again.
What Rump supporters call facts are really fantasies. They produce a long list of BS, offer no proof and then threaten the people who question them.
Lefty don’t like facts, goes against the narrative!
Lefty also openly loathes poor, uneducated, old, generationally imbecilic white Lefties, whose only value is that of the USEFUL IDIOT.

Rump has legions of “useful idiots” which you are a willing follower. Brainless sheeple that you are.
So, Hitt said he signed on as a fake elector because he was afraid for his family. He is 1. a liar, 2. showing the world what a bunch of Douch bags Trumpers are. 3. (my favorite) both.
Another angle, Gotch: list all the failings of Dementia Joe: the border, economy, weak foreign policy… my fingers get tired with all the potential typing…
JoKe is just that, and a bad one. The idiots running interference for him:

Folks, Dexter C. Lovecookie owns and operates the comment section due to a fire sale Blaska held to raise funds to meet his porn star hush-money payments. Mr. Lovecookie says he does not appreciate his comment section being riddled with a) comments that read longer than a congressional budget bill, b) more graphics than a Saturday morning cartoon show, and c) an anti-aircraft flak gun’s worth of repetitive responses. He also appreciates if comments are at least tangentially related to the topic of the blog. Go figger!
[…] The former GOP chairman told the CBS news magazine 60 Minutes 02-18-24 that he feared violence from Trump’s rabid supporters if he did not sign on as a Trump elector (as we reported 02-17-24) […]
Lovecookie 😂 lists expectations regarding comments on his blog. Interesting publisher’s column in this week’s Cap Times regarding the topic. Paul Fanlund indicated that he axed their comment section because he didn’t want to pay “someone to play whack-a-mole with trolls.” The delicate Mr. Fanland wouldn’t appreciate Professor Turley’s comment section. Very democratic moderator. Anonymous poster(s) there occasionally refer to comments they disagree with as “steaming turds.” Never a dull moment. Likewise at Squire’s.
In the 77 Square Miles Surrounded By A Sea Of Reality, Paulie (who, like other Lefties, couldn’t punch his way out of sopping wet one-ply @$$wipes) is in a league of his own as an Extraordinary WUSS!
The Gotch is embarrassed to admit that he used to deliver the once proud Cap Times, which has laughably earned itself a self-inflicted, ignoble demise.
How bad is it? Even the lovely and long-suffering Mrs. Gotch (a career Lefty, she!) allows that pathetic weekly insert rag to go straight to recycling.
And you ever see the undisturbed mountains of ’em at Woodmans? Sheesh, they can’t even give ’em away!
The Gotch
Chrome Dome Paulie, the Cap Times, and other woke progressives don’t like dissent. I’ve monitored their editorial section for decades and it’s a far-left echo chamber. They rarely publish a letter to the editor with a viewpoint contrary to their own unless it’s so absurd that it furthers their narrative. Either their staff doesn’t have the brains to employ AI screening tools that keep trollish commenters at bay, or their product is seeing such bad sales that they don’t have the money.
Someone else with a failed product is our belligerent foul-mouthed noodle boiling legislator Francesca Hong with the shuttering of Morris Ramen. But now she’ll have plenty more time to hurl vulgarities while her progressive sycophants cheer her on, even though they pitchforked Paul Skidmore when they accused him, without proof, of doing the same.
“their product is seeing such bad sales that they don’t have the money.”
Sales? Jeepers MTR, they can’t even give that rag away. Had the Evjue Foundation not been providing a deep-pocketed backstop (talk about throwing good money after bad!) it would have folded long ago.
“they pitchforked Paul Skidmore when they accused him, without proof, of doing the same.”
One of the more despicable actions in a LONG LINE of detestably despicable local Lefty conduct.
Skidmore’s son services our Geothermal HVAC, and his sister is our through-the-back-yard neighbor, and a Tomato customer in good standing.
If he’s anything like them, (which The Gotch suspects he is) he wouldn’t even consider uttering the most benign of expletives.
The Gotch
I’ve known Paul Skidmore for many years. Never an expletive has escaped his lips.
Fanlund apparently forgot that he could publish or spike anything in Vox Populi.
