I’m a former GOP State Senator who supports Haley. Trump says he doesn’t want me in MAGA, so I guess I sit out November.
First and foremost, all the blustery rhetoric between you two really needs to be stowed before it goes a step to far.

I agree with Steve. Being well-prepared to defend yourself against an attacker is an ideal I share, but it’s a much different thing to encourage them into a confrontation. It’s never a good idea to taunt an obviously deranged and quite possibly violent lunatic—there are enough crazies out there as it is, more seem to be showing up all the time, and too many elected officials are content to use them as political tools rather than stomping them out.
You kinda deserve each other… here’s a thought: ignore him?

If Gillette is walking around with untreated PTSD and alcohol addiction, one would hope he gets help. Finally, I agree with One Eye who says, “Ignore him”, which is good advice for the future.

This is the kind of blustery BS that’s part of the Infantry, I know this because I was part of it in the Army for some years and I know many long term and short term infantry in both the Army and Marines. Continuation of this kind of BS rhetoric after leaving the service is a bit more common amongst the enlisted ranks than it is amongst the college educated Commissioned Officers but Gillette seems to be a bit “special” trying to prove something in the civilian world that he couldn’t prove in the Marines, the man has a big chip on his shoulder.

PTSD, I honestly think you’re likely barking up the wrong tree with that kind of assumption; however, alcohol problems wouldn’t surprise me one bit.
The difference between someone like Gillette and me is I was already matured beyond that kind of BS rhetoric well before I joined the Army and when I left the Army I left those things behind for the most part. It appears that that chip Gillette is carrying around on his shoulder won’t let him grow beyond his military “glory days” and join the civilized world, he still has something to prove. I don’t know and I don’t care what it is Gillette thinks he has to prove but it’s driving him to write things that make him appear to be a immature moron.

Dave, I agree with the advice to ignore this guy. When bombastic bozos like this can sucker you in to engaging with him, it’s a sweet victory for him.
