It may seem like that know-it-all Blaska has an opinion on everything but sharp-eyed Platinum+ subscribers will notice he has yet to weigh in on European football, the wonder drug Ozempic, or the Oxford comma (which we use here at the Werkes). Herewith are today’s heaping helping of the Head Groundskeeper’s too easily tossed-off opinions:
Joe Biden keeps saying Democracy is on the Ballot. Then why isn’t Dean Philiips on Wisconsin’s presidential primary ballot for April 2? Because Joe Biden doesn’t want any challengers and Wisconsin Democrats are more sycophantic than Sean Trumpitty at the Mar-a-Lago kissing booth. Hellz Bellz, Wisconsin Republicans can choose from among Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis, Chris Christie, Vivek Ramaswamy, Asa Hutchinson, (Oxford comma!) and a guy named Trump!
Robin Vos is correct. (You read it here first!) Democrats are no more in favor of “Fair Maps” than Mr. Jerry Manders as The Beaver. Tony Evers could have taken yes for an answer and enacted the district maps passed by the Wisconsin legislature. Republicans gave the governor 99% of what he asked for. Tony vetoed the maps so that (spell it with me) Janet Protasiewicz could gerrymander her own maps. With this, of course, The Capital Times is fine.
Janet (keep spelling!) Protasiewicz should not refuse to recuse, as Republicans insist. Court candidates should not lay out an agenda as if they were running for governor. Again, appoint the justices; don’t elect them!

Don’t know if you saw the news story in our favorite Madison morning daily newspaper: A woman running down the middle of the eastbound lanes of the Beltline highway was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver. Story says she was running against traffic but doesn’t say if her tail lights were operating. But that’s what Madison has become under progressive governance! It’s not safe to run down the middle of the four-lane highway at 10:30 at night any more! At least the roads are cleared of ice! (Thank you global climate change.)
We choose not to read an analysis on CNN headlined: “Why was a revolting YouTube video of a purported decapitated head left online for hours?” (It’s always the last place you look!) Either it was an oversight or a free market response to consumer demand. We’re good either way. (The word “revolting” does give away the reviewer’s bias, n’est-ce pas?)
A sure-fire way to stop babies from crying! Throw a slice of pasteurized cheese product onto their little bald heads! Would this work for the average progressive? The indentured servants here at the Manor are stocking an orphanage-level supply of Kraft Singles. WARNING: You May Be Cheesed!

Blaska’s Bottom Line: At least Wisconsin is not trying to keep Trump off the November ballot in order to “Save Democracy.” (Talk about confirming MAGA Nation’s worst paranoias.) We’ve said before, there’s no greater grand jury than the American voter — not that they always get it right. But it’s their country.

Richard, it’s true that Justice Annette Ziegler was elected to a second two-year term as chief justice last May. It is also true, and more pertinent, that in their first week in power back in August, the 4 woke justices voted to fire the state court director, hire Skwierawski (Oxford comma!), and create a committee to do much of the work that the chief justice had done. Since the August coup d’état, the court has been run by an illiberal junta that includes Janet. It is far more accurate to state that Janet and her band of lawless sisters run the court.
Skwierawski; pronounced like it’s spelled, was hired as an Interim Court Director. Her duties are all non-judicial. She was first appointed to the bench by Scooter Walker. Lawless sisters?? Sounds like sour grapes after the ass-kicking in the last election.
Richard, why the list of Snapple facts to start off your reply? They don’t advance your argument with the Squire regarding who runs the court (and are a bit rambly.) BTY, effective December 31, 2023, Skwierawski dropped the Interim label.
It’s unclear which part of “lawless sisters” you define as sour grapes. I used the word sisters because, at the time of the commenting, the members of the ruling junta self identified as women. In a metaphorical sense, this make them sisters.
As to the “lawless” element, to quote Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Annette Ziegler when the coven voted to weaken her powers and fire the director of state courts,
“Again, I will not condone such lawless destruction of the constitution, the judiciary, or the court.”

I’m the only guy who keeps this blog interesting . There were zero comments on this post for two days until I got on (say thanks Dave). You got a problem with single parents then vote for the help they need.
