Blaska Policy Werkes

David Blaska, going out of his way to provoke progressives in Madison WI to make America safe for democracy!

Pin a medal on that Verona high school disciplinarian!

DEI is screwing up our kids!

The superintendent of Verona’s public schools wanted to fire an educator who struck a student. Thankfully, after what the Wisconsin State Journal describes as a “tense” seven-hour meeting, the school board declined to do so. Don’t just keep the district’s crisis management director on the job. Blaska says give Corey Saffold a medal, a 21-gun salute, and the superintendent’s prime parking spot!

Q. Have our public schools gone plumb loco? (A. Yes.)

Saffold, a former police officer who carries a firearm, was called on the carpet for hitting a student. With his elbow! Dane County’s Democrat(ic) district attorney has charged him with child abuse! Unprovoked? Hardly!

Big hulking 17-year-old was roaming the halls for 2 ½ hours. School brass is monitoring. Situation escalating. Student told to go to the principal‘s office. Kid threatens violence. Kid stands 6-feet 4-inches, weighs 230 pounds. Saffold removes his glasses to avoid injury. Assisted by other school employees, takes the student to the floor. Kid bites Saffold, draws blood. Kid gets cuffed. What’s this? (!!!) The school district has a policy against handcuffs? (!!!) A non-violent means of restraint to protect everyone? Saffold, a black man, neatly encapsulated the issue:

“The problem is the amount of risk that I take, that the district avoids.”

Remind anyone of Mr. Rob, that positive behavior coach at Madison’s Whitehorse middle school?

Republicans to the rescue!

Our public schools have become ever more dysfunctional, student performance ever more dismal, ever since DEI infected our schools of education. Which is why Robin Vos and his Republican legislators are winning hearts and minds throughout Wisconsin.

The legislature’s joint finance committee voted to extract the $32 million the state university system spends on diversity, equity, and inclusion — the umbrella for critical race theory. Vote was 12 Republicans in favor; 4 Democrats against. DEI, CRT, racial grievance studies, the 1619 Project teach that America is institutionally racist and that everyone — other than white, cisgendered men — is a victim.

Vos and the Republican legislature also won more voucher money for parents who choose private and charter schools — an extra $1,000 and $3,000 per student.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Verona school administrators did no favors for that trouble-making kid. They only taught him more victimhood. Should be no absolute prohibition against educators laying hands on students, depending on the circumstances of each case. Some timely in-school hands-on will relieve police on our streets from needing to do so when the stakes are higher.

What does it tell you that the citizenry supported Saffold?

I’m glad you mentioned the White Horse incident. From here, it appears that teacher deserved a medal, but of course they had to run him through the hurdles. If memory serves me, a classroom being emptied because of one horrible discipline problem and the credentialed teacher called on the carpet for trying to handle it, was horrifying. It probably cowed a lot of other professionals made to “take it in the chin” for incidents that didn’t get as much press. It sounds like some sensible folks are looking in on this kind of thing and taking steps. Hurray! Some teachers deserve combat pay.

Where do you think the 17 year old will be in 5 years? Jail? Prison? Dead? This person has needed help for a long time and has gotten none, just pasted along. Just like the 2 sentenced today for the murder at the Public Safety Building. The rest of most of their lives in prison.

How are kids supposed to learn that actions have no consequences, they are not responsible for their actions, and wrapping themselves in a cloak of victimhood is the best way to blame others for their shortcomings if they aren’t taught it early in school? Families, especially 2 parent families with responsible adults can’t be trusted to raise future Democrats.

Instead of your constant bitching about single parents when are you and your party going to step up and help? You think you are in some way insulting me, but it’s only proving what a fool you really are.

Not b!tching about single parents, many do their level best against long odds.

However….any number of their comically inept offspring (like you) require many million$ in tax-payer-funded services over time; not an economically sound business model…welp…not to anyone who can fog a mirror, leastways.

Let me inject a twist into this story. Instead of “just” roaming the halls and breaking school protocols, the punk decided to murder children. And if his plot succeeded who would the Dane County DA go after, answer gun owners and/or “zealots” who demand accountability. I hope Saffold sues the crap out of Dane County and I’m on the jury.
