NY Times readers Blow off Lori’s race scam

Is this the end of identity politics, Rico?

In the last thrilling installment of your favorite blogge, we examined a racist column from the newspaper that foisted The 1619 Project on a weary America. New York Times columnist Charles M. Blow blamed racism most foul for the stunning loss of Lori Lightfoot in Tuesday’s 02-28-23 Chicago mayoral primary. Plus a dollop of misogyny and a smidgeon of queer hate.

Never mind that every ward in the city had elected the poor lady four years previous. Or that seven of her eight challengers were “people of color.” Or that Lightfoot, Lori had managed to alienate the teachers union, the police, the city council, the business community, McDonald’s, the Chicago Bears, the Democrat governor of Illinois, and … well, Chicago. Let’s face it, she Fook’d Up!

Charles Blows hard

Lightfoot told me she understood that as a woman and as a person of color, “I’m always going to be viewed through a different lens.”

In our interview, she was brutal in her racial assessment of [leading vote getter Paul] Vallas: “He is giving voice and platform to people who are hateful of anyone who isn’t white and Republican in our city, in our country.” She is also surprisingly candid about how race operates in the city itself: “Chicago is a deeply divided and segregated city.”

None of which explains why black mayors should not be blamed for rising crime. Instead, Lightfoot, Lori plays the race card on the voters of Chicago.

Before the NY Times shut off the spigot of reader comments (just hours after posting the Blow/Lori job), 1,134 managed to comment under the wire. A quick review of those comments renews our faith in America’s native intelligence. Not one we saw took Blow/Lori’s side.  Commenters themselves chose these comments as their favorites:

DaveH from Texas commented “All complete nonsense.”

Erasmus Brennan of Chicago: “What an odd article. There are no indications that the author acknowledges the crime issue to be based on real, valid concerns; rather, ‘crime’ is merely discussed as a political, race-at-its-heart issue.”

Lynette from Cal: “The people gave her a chance and they were not happy with the results. There doesn’t have to be multiple stories about blackness, lesbian-ness etc. She didn’t do a good job. That’s all there is.”

Richard A. Reeves (the famous author?) of Tampa, FL:This is the equivalent of someone on the right saying the election was a fraud, and therefore invalid. How about this: if the next mayor fails like the current one did then he/she won’t be reelected.

MIM of Portland: “This column encapsulates the left perfectly. Nothing is our fault and anyone saying differently is racist and misogynistic. And if the victim of the “unfair” criticism is a white Democrat, then it’s the Republicans fault. Rinse and repeat. Zero accountability and now zero credibility. At this point I don’t even need AI to write a passable Blow column. It’s like mad libs around here, no pun intended.

“Maybe if we didn’t elect people for the color of their skin and their sexual identity we wouldn’t end up with pathetic politicians like Kamala, Pete, Lightfoot, and many of the ridiculous characters the Republicans just ran last year.”

“And let’s not forget who often gets hurt the most with ineffectual governance, it is black and brown people, the same people Mr. Blow claims to be speaking up for. Do them a favor sir, stop helping.

Randall of Chicago: ‘Im liking the comments more than the article. Seems to me the readers get it more than the author.”

The number #1 reader favorite is the work of Socrates in Downtown Verona, NJ:

“Give it a rest, Charles.”

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Even its subscribers are full up to here (hand waving over head) of the Times’ race baiting.

Can’t one of Chicago’s black victims
sue the Times like Dominion is suing Fox?

Back in the Paleozoic era, when dinosaurs walked the Earth, I took an undergraduate course on state and local government. Even then, it was readily understood that law enforcement in America was both a foundational public service and politically popular. Voters liked being protected.

These truths escaped Mayor Lightfoot. Don’t worry about her being turned out of office, though. She’ll land on her Lightfeet.

She’ll land on her feet by making the rounds on the talk shows. Writing a book about how unfair society is to black women, lesbians. After a while she will fade into obscurity as few will buy that B.S.

Agreed, were it anyone, it’d be MSLSD (sic).

But let’s (heh!) FACE it, she’s too hideous for the small screen (any screen if you think about it), and if you’ve ever heard her struggle mightily to communicate verbally, you already know she’s too cluelessly d!p$#!tted for radio as well

Heck, even despicably detestable Lefty (forgive the redundancy) Alec Baldwin was in the employ of MSDNC (sic) until he showed everyone his true colors…yet again…for the LAST TIME.

HeyZeus Alou, Blaska; you subscribe to the NYT…where Section A and the OpEd are one-n-the-same?

The Gotch doesn’t know whether to applaud your estimable…um…fortitude, or pray for an early spring so you can steer your considerable energy toward more productive endeavors…like Bean Ranching!

FWIW; a mere week from today indoor Squarsh (Green-n-Golden Zukes, & Watham Butternut), Cukes (Wautoma Heirloom, WESconsin SMR 58, & Sweet Success), Peppers (too many to list), & Basil (Lettuce Leaf & Emerald Tower) planting will commence @The Gotchberg Organic Gardens And Lefty Conversion Therapy Emporium

One other thing: I’m liking the fact that some of the NY Times commenters are women, or are identifying as such.

Moreover, I like women, too. That’s another story, and Mr. Lesiak may take offense at this second expression of my truth.

This reaffirms what I’ve been saying for years: The NYT commenters are often smarter than the columnists. Unfortunately, most aren’t smart enough to flush their subscription or stop voting straight-ticket Democrat.

    Systemic RAYcism in Chicago?

    Not exactly; to wit:

    1. 2,240 Shootings, 440 Homicides from January thru July 2020. Almost every shooter and homicide (97.7%!!) were bLack democrats, but BLM and
Chicago‘s Democratic Politicians blame “police and systemic racism.”
    2. The Chicago mayor? bLack democrat.
    3. The Superintendent of Police? bLack democrat.
    4. The Cook County States’ Attorney? bLack democrat
    5. The Chief Judge of Cook County Circuit Courts? bLack democrat
6 The Illinois Attorney General? bLack democrat.
    7. The Chicago Fire Department Commissioner? bLack democrat
    8. The Cook County Board President? <bLack democrat.
    9. The State Senate Majority Leader? bLack democrat.
    10. The Illinois Lieutenant Governor? bLack democrat.
    11. The Illinois Secretary of State? bLack democrat.
    12. The Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County? bLack democrat.
    13. The Cook County Clerk? bLack democrat.
    14. The Chicago Treasurer? bLack democrat.
    15. The Chicago Police Board President? bLack democrat.
    16. The Chicago Transit Authority President? bLack democrat.
    17. The CEO of Chicago Public Schools? bLack democrat.
    18. The Commissioner of the Department of Water Management? bLack democrat.
    19. 40% of the City Council belong to the bLack democrat Caucus. Their average pay is $122,304 annually each, PLUS $122,000 per year in
expenses. Their pension for life is 80% of last pay.
*Republican head count in the City Council is ZERO.
*William Hale Thompson was the last Republican Mayor of Chicago in
    1931.
*For 89 (now 92 and counting!) years democrats have controlled the Chicago Mayor’s Office.
*The Chicago deficit was $838,200,000 at the end of fiscal 2019!

These figures are from over three (3) years ago; have things gotten better, stayed the same, or gotten worse…?
