Were they just hoping problem would go away?
Now the Madison school board is developing a committee to study school safety. NOW? Today? Five months after a widespread brawl at East high school induced one-third of the student body to shelter at home for safety? Two years after defunding school resource police officers? And all the gun incidents and student beatings since?
Now, today, the Madison school board is going to start a 13-member “student safety and wellness committee.” The overly Woke school board that created this undergraduate fight club will appoint the members, led by school board member Ananda Mirilli. Her day job at the Department of Public Instruction is to inject critical race theory into K-12 curriculum statewide.
This committee will address “the root cause of disengagement and violence in schools.” Maybe the committee can team up with Vice President Kamala Harris who is studying the root cause of illegal immigration. Philosophy Lesson 101: Studying the “root cause” of a thing means the studier has no idea what to do about the problem.
Here’s an idea: Until you find the unicorn at the end of the rainbow, how about stopping the violence in the meantime?
The Mirilli committee will “create districtwide policies.” Madison Metropolitan School District already has more policies than an insurance company.
Blaska, your write-in candidate for Seat #4 on the school board, has yer policy right here: put teachers back in control of their classrooms and principals back in charge of their schools. Return the SROs. You are most welcome!
Spanish class at Madison East high school Monday 03-14-2022. From a parent: “I guess the dark-haired girl came to the class room because she was mad at her friend with the red hair because she thought she was gossiping about her behind her back. The [male] student teacher broke it up.”
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Expelling the police was only the last step in the Madison public schools war on discipline.

How can one learn in such an environment? Looks to me that all those classes on diversity, equity and wokeness are doing a REAL good job at keeping the students in line. Paraphrasing what Dave Blaska has said before: If you don’t teach discipline 1st, you have no chance at teaching anything else.
And this is what we all pay such huge amounts of property, state and federal income tax for? The student that instigated this violence should be permanently expelled! Bring the school resource officers back!
But as they say, leadership starts at the top. It begins with the school board, the district administrators, the principles and then the teachers.
If these kids are in High School, and in a Spanish class, they should be able to quote, in Spanish, great quotes from the likes of the novelist Paulo Coelho or the great leader Simón Bolívar who was and is considered the George Washington of South America.
Not fighting in the classrooms.
Spanish class?! 🤣 I don’t see the little dears conjugating any verbs.
Good luck, Squire.
I don’t know what language they were speaking in there, but it sure wasn’t Spanish!
You can’t fix stupid.
Free birth control (long acting reversible contraceptives). Easy access to abortions if necessary.
Would remove a lot of the feral kids. Not now, but 15 years from now as Tom Hagen might say.
Also once Kaleem Caire’s new school is up and running … just copy what they do.
Retroactive abortions, too, as needed!
Student teacher breaks up fight? Isn’t this against MMSD policy? Did the student teacher read the violence policy? Is the student teacher going to have actions taken against them for breaking up a student fight? This is too old school and should not be tolerated in our woke schools.Maybe the committee on violence will give teachers and principals the advise they need on how to handle violence in the classroom better than breaking up the fight. Maybe more counselors to talk the participants into stop fighting.
I cannot imagine teaching in that environment! Root cause? Start at Genesis 1! Ban cell phones in class!. Only teachers have cell phones. District wide lectures by Jordan Peterson. I feel really bad for the students that want to learn.
Any comment that mentions Jordan Peterson has my immediate attention…
That video should be enough to cause the entire Madison school board to resign in disgrace. Oh, wait. You’d have to possess a conscience to do that–as opposed to an unshakeable allegiance to an ideology. The sad thing is that this type of violence is an everyday occurrence in any high school in any large or medium-sized city in this country thanks to leftist school boards and woke teachers.
I thought facemasks would make everyone safe! They’re still forcing everyone in Madison schools to wear them…. you know, for safety. And because they were so effective to keep the Dane County caseload down in January and February, remember?
Maybe if everyone wears 3 masks that will help keep Madison schools safe.
The root cause of stupidity is Vos and the GOP. Wed. in Plover Vos and a collection of nutbags are having a meeting to decertify the election. Be there for the circus. Gableman says he will present proof that 250,000 votes are invalid. (Don’t bet on it.) Another waste of time, money and air. Bring your My Pillow; it will be a long night.
Has anyone here bought a My Pillow? They’ve always looked flimsy to me and way too expensive. Pass.
Good ol’ one-eye does it best. Now, Senior Dick-like has some substance to reply to. Most other subjects posted here are beyond his comprehension.
Poor attempt at deflection, Lesiak. Robin Vos caused Madison schools to culture in-school fight clubs? In this Pass/Fail classroom guess which one you get!
At least he’s consistent! Lesser men would have shifted the blame to Putin.
(As will I if my March Madness bracket does poorly)

Isn’t it a little early in the day for you to be slamming down those boilermakers?
“Root cause of stupidity?”
WTF!!!
That’s pure unadulterated partisan trolling and about as stupid as a statement can possibly get. If you honestly think your statement is true then you need to study up on how to pinpoint “root cause”. Your moronic rhetoric is absurd.
Richard clearly never learned that “it’s better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt”.
Your rabbit hole deflection is going nowhere.

Some surprisin’ REDDIT Comments today on this topic:
A. I am neither a prophet nor the son of a prophet but I will predict this: The committee will suggest paying a consultant a lot of money to make suggestions as to what to do. Further, that consultant will have political ties to the district.
B. It took 5 months to get this 13 person committee off the ground. That should tell you all you need to know about how effective this is going to be.
Sadly, even the many REDDIT posts and comments, whilst reflecting reality, still ignore the value of SRO’s in-so-far-as allowing teachers and students to inter-react as -TEACHERS AND STUDENT SHOULD INTER-REACT… Peacefully, quietly, intelligently and productively…
The Squire was favorably mentioned in those comments, although someone was worried he is right wing. Maybe DB should pledge that he will not try to bring back the pledge of allegiance and no school uniforms.
These incidents help DB.
Which REDDIT subgroup has these comments posted?
Xman, I’ll see if I can find it when time permits. It’s not in my history on this CPU, but maybe one of the other 3. Notable was the cynical response to MMSD and it’s machinations. Seems that perhaps logic and common-sense prevail in the future.

Wasn’t it the Principal at East High School that wants to suspend those taking the videos. Videos like these need to be seen on all the local news stations with student faces blurred. Oh but wait the Mayor and School Board control the media.
Do not count on local media, they are scared straight now, even channel 3000 stopped the free commenting section, the narrative just wasn’t in their purview. Like CNN, MSNBC, NBC, abc, yahoo, all of these free speech stopped free speech. Funny how that works
The Gotch doesn’t vote often (once per election, he’s not a Lefty, after all), but when he does, it’s for David Blaska seat # 4 MMSD!
The Gotch
The Gotch is back!
YES!
(And there was another massive student fight this week outside East High School. The schools clearly need more money for programs and services and CRT curriculum.)
“The Gotch is back!”
“YES! (And there was another massive student fight this week…)”
Coincidence…?

That’s #1 on the Gut Laugh Leader Board!!!!
I absolutely love your richard lesiak correlation equals causation conspiracy theorist impression.
Well done Gotch!!!
Wanna bet Blaska won’t be invited to the safety committee? You should be because, based on these responses, you could represent the following groups:
1) Those who believe in eugenics as the solution to our education problems.
2) Those who were educated in Wisconsin schools who did not learn proper grammar.
3) Those who never served in the military.
4) Old, obese, alcoholic white guys with no children or grandchildren in Madison schools and don’t live in Madison.
5) Old white guys sitting on their back porch awaiting the second coming.
6) Jordan Peterson groupies.
Because pregnant teenagers and Ibram X Kendi groupies are working out SO well.
Really hoping you can get past your racist hatred of white men at some point. It doesn’t bring us any closer to the dream of Dr. King and it holds us back as a community.
Blair street closed until June 1st, why doe it take years and years for Madison to repair it’s roads? Not from lack of money.
The blog title reads, “Madison schools should study root cause of stupidity”
But wouldn’t stupid people in leadership positions trying to study the root cause of stupidity in those they lead be rather stupid? 😉
