The result: their President — a modern-day Millard Fillmore — will be neutered.
At CCN, Van Jones laments, “The fact that it is this close, hurts.” Poor Jamelle Bouie of the NY Times “waited in vain for a repudiation [of Trump, of course] that never came.” Here in Madison, liberal blogger Greg Humphrey blames America for failing some “moral test” in Tuesday’s election 11-03-20. Blaming the voters is a loser’s lament. But there are lots of losers in America today 11-05-20.

Campaign finance reform (aka McCain-Feingold) — Democrats outspent Republicans in 14 of 15 marquee Senate races but won only two of them (some remain uncalled but — except for Michigan — likely Republican), including $108 million against Lindsay Graham to his $70 million
National groups raised at least $88 million to take over state legislatures, support that cause, compared with more than $60 million for Republicans. Too bad. Republicans will control both legislative chambers in 24 of the 36 states in which legislatures draw district lines. Lesson: money does not buy electoral happiness.

The six (6) figure vote dump was due to an erroneous data error FROM_THE_STATE_OF_MICHIGAN. The guy that posted it took it down after it was discovered.

Thanks for the link, Gotch. I read it and down at the bottom it says this WI tally was just a “clerical error.” Or at least according to The Annenberg Public Policy Center. So then click on that link and you get factcheck.org Now, read the factcheck explanation about this “clerical error.” But does that mean that if the numbers were not so in-your-face, that “clerical error” wouldn’t have gone through as an actual vote tally?
Richard, what do you think after reading that explanation? I’m not clear on this, and am interested in your, Gotch or any one else’s interpretation of that explanation. Thanks

Amos. Read through this stuff. Problem…there is NO statewide system for reporting unofficial results. There is NOTY a central official website where results are reported. “The most reliable and accessible source of state and district totals is the AP. They gather info from from 72 counties and provide unofficial results to their members.” This chain of info gathering looks ripe for errors in reporting. They said it was an error which could well be from the AP. Bottom line; error found and fixed. Carry on.

Richard, so your interpretation is that this “clerical error” just impacts the REPORTING of the vote totals but not the ACTUAL FINAL totals, which would subsequently be revealed?
And if so, when would those ACTUAL FINAL totals be reported? Only after a vote recount is demanded and accepted? Still not clear here on the process at all.

It gets worse… Remember the court case Republicans won earlier this year to have over 200k invalid voters removed from the voter rolls? The case that was overturned by the State Supreme Court. So, take the 3.6 million registered voters, subtract 200k invalid = 3.4 million valid registered. 3.25 million votes cast, which equals 95.5% turnout.
How is it that the most candidate with the most unenthusiastic support in decades managed to get over 200K more votes than Clinton????

Thanks David for being a voice of reason. Even if Biden wins the Presidency, the Senate & SCOTUS is still in the hands of conservatives. Maybe that’s the most important takeaway from this stressful election.
I thought it funny that AOC was scolding Latinos for voting for Trump; voting in the United States means you get to vote your choice, lady. Obviously she doesn’t speak for every person in her ethnic group.
I will always respect the office of the President even if I don’t like who is in the office. I plan on being a better person than those harpies on the left.

I predicted this summer that we are seeing the death of Progressivism and I think that prediction is mostly correct with this election result. Granted, Trump probably wont win, but 3 supreme court justices, reversal of some bad policies and shining the light of day into morally corrupt media and Democratic Party, I’d say “job well done, Sir!”. Whats the (new) famous saying: “cry more, Lib!”

Gotch, I still think that we are all works in progress, including myself for sure. It’s just how much patience you have, and that’s always been one of my own areas to work on the most. So just consider this a self-improvement effort, if nothing else.
I do think that Richard seems like a decent guy, so it makes it doable to keep trying, since it doesn’t take much time. There are so many people suffering from TDS and most of them aren’t evil by a long shot. And besides, if Richard ever left, it would leave a hole in your own heart. Sometimes you guys seriously sound like brothers with all your bickering. I really think you should have accepted his invitation to the Dells. 🙂

How do you know it would be a “waste of (your) time” to do this? This is an open thread and others are reading as well as the person you are responding to. You present factual and reasonable statements to support what you are saying and people start respecting what you have to say. You just resort to hurling opinions backed up by insults and they don’t.

BTW, I think your comment about using pseudonyms is a very important one. While I’ve decided to use my real name here, which I’ve never done before online, I certainly wouldn’t ever begrudge those who don’t for all kinds of reasons. I remember Robert Fisk, one of the most courageous journalists in the world, once pushing the idea that anonymity should be banned when it comes to comments. He was constantly receiving death threats for his reporting and I’m assuming that was where his position was coming from. But, as other posters pointed out to him, not everyone has a major news organization to help keep them alive. For those other people, posting with your real name could easily get yourself killed in within days. I think he may have modified his position on this after receiving such feedback from other readers, but for someone with his intelligence to not understand this was pretty amazing to me and why I’ve never forgotten that.
Of course, it usually is not any life or death issue; it just allows people to speak their true thoughts in a safe environment, given this world of doxing and more. I think this more often than not encourages much more honestly and a deeper level of conversation for everyone. I used to listen to WPR talk programs (and sometimes WORT) for hrs a day, and when WPR switched over from “caller you’re on the air” to asking for a first name, I noticed a real change in the nature of calls. So yes, “anonymity” can often offer a much better exchange of thoughts and feelings. I think it’s just a personal decision which, so long it doesn’t encourage the worst in people to come to the surface, is often times even better for the purpose of good dialogue. Personally, I don’t think that Batman is abusing his anonymity. Ditto, obviously, for Liberty and a host of others. Just so long as there isn’t an attempt to post under different names – which is the essence of a true troll IMO – I see no problem with it. Quite the contrary.
Of course, I would never underrate your own decision to post with your own name. That’s exactly why I have more respect for you than people like Voice in the Wind, JM and a few others I can’t remember off-hand.

Found that he just died less than a week ago at age 73 from a suspected stroke.

I am a seasonal resident of the Madison area (Mt. Horeb) from May-September. I spend the other seven months in Maricopa, a small community of 50,000 just south of Phoenix. A friend introduced me to the BPW over the summer and I have been a subscriber ever since.
The Progressives in Madison are taking an All-American city down the sewer. I grew up in Madison and spent forty-some years working and raising a family there. Madison used to be such a wholesome and peaceful city. It is difficult to watch the downward spiral of lawlessness, political correctness and pandering to those who complain the loudest about others, but who do little to help themselves.
Thank you for keeping an eye on the store and speaking boldly and candidly about the state of affairs in the Four Lakes area.

just employing a strategy to somehow survive a four year term surrounded by sharks on all sides? Then, once he won his 2nd term, he could take the bull by his horns in a more direct and forceful manner. Everything I’ve seen from Trump, pretty much without exception (I attribute his 1st debate performance to the fact that he was coming down with Covid,) indicates to me that he is a perceptive and extremely strategic thinker. It’s not just TV Reality shows when it comes to how he operates, for sure!

What happened to my ballot when instead of going into the machine they put it in the box directly below the machine? Same thing an hour before when a relative voted. So, what happened to my vote? Did it count to who I voted for?
