‘If I said you had a beautiful body would you hold it against me?’*

Progressives are eating their own!

Has #MeToo become the new McCarthyism?

* the Bellamy Brothers

Good for the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints. They’ll baptize you even if you’re dead, proving that it is never too late for redemption.

Would that the apostles of the Church of Cancel Culture were so generous. These reverse missionaries condemn to the fires of everlasting censure those who may have shuffled off this mortal coil in a state of grace before their misdeeds could be properly condemned by later, more enlightened generations.

Such is one Colleen D. Ball who would remove the bust of Edward G. Ryan from the Supreme Court chambers in Wisconsin’s Capitol, “given that March is Women’s History Month and 2020 is Women’s Suffrage Centennial.”

This is how the Left commemorates achievement in Year Three of the Trump Interregnum — not with soaring oratory and commemorative medals but by erasing from history successive crops of nonpersons for ever more trivial transgressions. Stalin would be so proud.

capitol-vandalism-10pkg_frame_426Bash an old White Male for the ultimate feminist feel-good! If you don’t know Edward G. Ryan you haven’t been reading your John Nichols. It is a verbal tic of Comrade Nichols to quote the white male State Supreme Court justice perorating “Who shall rule, money or man?” The old proto-Progressive inspired a young Robert M. La Follette and we’ve had to live with that self-satisfied high-mindedness ever since.

Ryan may have written the state Constitution as well as the judicial decision so beloved by our Progressive acquaintances establishing the state’s hegemony over private corporations. But the guy wasn’t perfect: old Ryan, born during the reign of George III, believed a woman’s place was in the home — a fact he had in common with virtually everyone else during his 1810-80 lifetime, including not a few women.

Lot of statues being torn down these days. Honest Abe, I’d be looking over your shoulder on Bascom Hill. Freed the slaves but was pretty slow in coming around. That Liberia thing, doncha know. The old misogynist never did let Mary Todd vote.

To the fainting couch!

Which brings us to Chris Matthews. The MSNBC political commentator quit his show a week ago Monday (03-02-2020). Seems someone named Laura Bassett accused the liberal host of “making multiple inappropriate comments about her appearance,” as the New York Times described it.

Bassett writing in GQ magazine (of all places) contends that Matthews, off air, said “Why haven’t I fallen in love with you yet?” among other comments “that had made her uncomfortable.”

Consider, dear reader, that among these multiple inappropriate comments were no “horse face.” No “Who hit you with the ugly stick?” Instead, things like (to MSNBC host Erin Burnett): “You’re a knockout … it’s all right getting bad news from you.” Well, dammit, the lady IS easy to look at.

Dang me, dang me!
Ought to take a rope and hang me!
High from the highest tree!
Woman would you wait for me!

Post hoc ergo propter hoc

More risably, judging by the ink Bassett devotes to the incident, is Matthews doing what a good journalist should do and pursuing then-candidate Elizabeth Warren’s assertion that Michael Bloomberg urged a woman to abort her baby. Bassett, in full prosecutorial mode, writes:

“I just wanna make sure you’re clear about this,” Matthews said.

Right there on America’s purportedly liberal network, the anchor spoke to a 70-year-old United States senator who is running for president — and a renowned Harvard Law professor, no less — like she couldn’t possibly understand her own words, as if she were a child choosing between a snack now or dessert later.

“You believe he’s lying?” Matthews asked Warren of Bloomberg’s denial.

“I believe the woman, which means he’s not telling the truth,” said Warren.

Julie Swetnik, anyone?

“This ‘cancel culture’ is a cancer on progressivism... Liberals always have to fight a two-front war. Republicans only have to fight the Democrats; Democrats have to fight the Republicans, and each other.” — Bill Maher, quoted in the Daily Mail.

Matthews nurtured a center-left outlook, but his liberalism—rooted in patriotism and Kennedy-era idealism—didn’t always jell with MSNBC’s increasingly progressive agenda. … Matthews’s downfall at MSNBC partly stems from a media culture that no longer allows for absolution; sins go unforgiven. — Charles F. McElwee, City Journal.

It’s possible Matthews did worse things than we know about so far, but as of today, it looks like he’s been unfairly thrown into the same cultural ditch with actual predators like Harvey Weinstein. He has been forever smeared as a sex abuser when what really cost him his job was being rude to Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, and Elizabeth Warren.  New York Post.

The business he had chosen

Matthew closed off his final monologue on the Trump Resistance channel by confessing: “Compliments on a woman’s appearance that some men, including me, might have once incorrectly thought were OK are never OK,” he said. “Not then, and certainly not today.”

Blaska’s Bottom Line: So Chris Matthews, who had been doing the show 25 years, has now disappears down the memory hole, joining such other clear and present dangers to liberated womanhood as Al Franken and Garrison Keillor. But not before doing the ritual public confession and rending of garments.

What do YOU think?

“Honest Abe, I’d be looking over your shoulder on Bascom Hill.” Not surprisingly, there have been efforts by the usual tiny faction of the perpetually aggrieved to remove him, mainly because he approved of the hanging of Native Americans in Minnesota who had attacked and killed innocent settlers. When the UW administration, in a rare display of backbone, said no, they demanded a plaque be placed nearby explaining Abe’s shameful role in this miscarriage of justice. Granted. But don’t think this will placate the fanatics for long–nothing ever does. These are the same people who successfully demanded the removed of Porter Butts’ name from the Union art gallery despite his 40 years of devoted service to the UW. His sin: joining a group as a freshman called the Ku Klux Klan, which despite its name had NO CONNECTION with the terrorist organization of the same name. These people operate on the flawed principle that one indiscretion automatically negates a lifetime of virtuous action and have apparently never heard of the old line “Let him among you who is without sin cast the first stone.” Of course when you believe you alone are without sin, the stones are bound to fly.

Some history one hopes will be kept off’n the Lefty Sharpshooter’s radar:

“The Old Squire was gobsmacked by Fiona Hill’s star turn on Thursday’s installment of the Schiff Story Hour. (Insert the Roy Orbison GROWL from “Pretty Woman” here.)

“Ms. Hill is a striking-looking woman. Strong, intelligent, with a fair sense of humor. Should be cast as James Bond’s femme fatale undercover nemesis in the next movie. Or should BE James Bond, in a Woke nod to #MeToo and the alphabet people.”

Unfortunately caught a News 3 editorial with Neil Heinen last night – it must be sexism because there are no women remaining on the Presidential ballot (er…Tulsi doesn’t count, I guess). Unlike Matthews, he has truly been whipped and shouldn’t be near an editorial chair anymore unless they have Blaska on alternate nights.

I have never liked the ol’ shivering leg (via Obama) Chris M,(https://www.huffpost.com/entry/chris-matthews-i-felt-thi_n_86449) but this is, once again ludicrous. Blaska you are a star…always pointing out interesting stuff. I would love to see you up there with the likes of Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro etal. Here’s another great group doing good stuff with the truth: Bret Weinstein’s DarkHorse Facebook Group. The week is young. Looking forward to more of your word press offerings piercing the darkness.

Nothing says strong woman like pettiness and whining. Neither does faux outrage and pearl clutching when challenged in any manner, “How dare you oppose me! I have a vagina. Which naturally imbues me with a panoply of virtuous and wonderful character traits.” Some women in the public sphere seem to have decided that merely being female is suitable substitute for competence.

      Do tell!

SanFranNan: ‘I usually always cast my vote for a woman

Soooo, when the L-Dopa-addled Pelosi casts her vote, screw fitness for the position; all she needs to know is that the candidate has ovaries.

      But wouldn’t that exclude transgenders?

Were it not for Identity Politics, Lefty’d have no politics at all!

“Usually always”? One more indication of the addle-brained, botox-riddled thinking that passes for “leadership” in DemWorld.
