No anger allowed this Labor Day

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

What kind of country allows family and friends to embark on a three-day Labor Day weekend smoking up ribs and burgers on the grill, dipping into ice chests packed with beer and soda pop? Zinnias and phlox full flower in the garden, sandhill cranes honking in the distance, the weather is glorious in early autumn. Unemployment is at record lows, even for minority races.

Tell you what kind of country: a great and generous country! Can we hope that even the progressives and socialists in our midst can put aside the vinegar and vitriol for these few days to celebrate America’s goodness? That Bernie, Elizabeth, and Satya can celebrate the wonder of America?

One can hope — but not expect.

Wash away our sins, oh Goddess of Guilt

We’d settle for teaching to read

It is astounding that a reported 5,000 Madison public school teachers (the district claims a total 5,468 “staff members”) celebrated racial discord Monday (08-26-19) at Memorial Coliseum in anticipation of the new school year. It is beyond irony that their teachers union endorsed Ali Muldrow and Ananda Mirilli, who accused school teachers, administrators, and school resource officers (all four of them minority races) of racism most foul.

As if to wash away their sins the 5,000 penitents endured Dr. Bettina Love. According to one eyewitness account from a publication that trades in racial grievance:

Dr. Love warned that nothing triggers rage in white culture more than blackness with ambition, with drive, with purpose, with aspirations. That’s the trigger of white rage according to Dr. Love. The problem is not with black people being here. They brought us here so that’s not the problem, Dr. Love said. It’s blackness with ambition that is the trigger.

“Whiteness does not like black excellence,” Dr. Love said. “So, Madison, you’re calling yourself a city that’s gonna do black excellence? Look out!”

What utter poppycock! How counter-intuitive!

Turning classrooms into angry places

We turn to Our Ms. Vicki McKenna, who broached the subject Thursday on her WIBA 1310 radio program with her frequent guest, Dr. Duke Pesta of UW-Oshkosh. A rough transcription:

It is not black ambition that drives white Americans crazy — it’s not enough ambition … If we could get blacks to be ambitious enough to go to school and finish school, not having children until they are married, to stop killing each other in record numbers like they’re doing in Chicago. …

How did we got to point so many school teachers  … transform little kids’ classrooms into angry places that teach America is responsible for all the world’s evils? It happened because … education departments on college campus have completely swallowed social justice ideology and marxist pedagogy … to teach that that primary purpose of the classroom is not … to teach mastery of a subject … but to transform American to make young people to believe the worst about their country.

On our watch list

Ms. Vicki recommends the Netflix special Sticks & Stones by comedian Dave Chappelle (caution: he works blue).

Dave Chappelle’s Netflix special may be
the most politically incorrect comedy show ever

National Review praises Chappelle for “saying some needful things about the Jussie Smollett hoax in one of the best segments.”

We’re paying for these academic credits

Witnessing Whiteness for
K-12 Teachers, Staff, Parents

Designed to help white people notice and respond to interpersonal, institutional, and cultural racism, this 10-week, sequential series connects the content of the Witnessing Whiteness book with participants’ own experiences of whiteness through dialogue and activities. For teachers looking for continuing eduction credit, MMSD and Edgewood College have approved this workshop for 1 unit of credit.

The more credits district teachers get, the more they get paid. Begins October 7 at Sennett Middle School.

What’s the difference between a Republican and a Democrat?

“[Mia] Love ran for Congress again and was elected on November 4, 2014, defeating Democratic opponent Doug Owens; she fended off Owens a second time to win re-election in 2016.[1] She ran for re-election in 2018, but was defeated by Democrat Ben McAdams, losing by 694 votes out of over 250,000 cast.[4]” (Wikipedia)

Brian Kemp won the 2018 Georgia Gubernatorial election defeating Stacey Abrams by 55,000 votes. Abrams still thinks she was cheated out of her rightful place as the first black female governor of any state in the US.
I guess Hillarity made it okay to be a sore loser.

Limiting one’s praise to “organized labor” would be (to borrow a phrase) gratuitously insulting and a partisan misstatement of facts to the nearly 90 % of the U.S. workforce that’s not Union Proud/Union Strong!

But this The Gotch (and he’s not alone) fully expects.

          You two…
No partisan bickering this holiday weekend, boys, so Gootch, just for clarification: it was organized labor’s efforts that gained all labor the 8 hour day, a 40 hour workweek, paid overtime, no child labor, safety standards and many other current practices of good employment. We honor all labor and the benefits organized labor gained for all. Alleged corruption at the top? Tacky, Gootch, and Ho-hum news. In deference to the host I’ll skip citing any number of GOP examples.
Bats, just do a little research on Kemp and his role is overseeing the election he was running in. She has reason to feel cheated.

I’m in; but it just seems kinda odd to be well-wishing Labor Day on Friday night.

I suspect this is as offensive to most of you as it is to me. I want EVERY American to succeed – we are so much stronger as a nation if everyone is thriving.

Perpetuating racial discord is dangerous business, and sadly, I think it does little to actually promote achievement goals.

I also think those who embrace this ideology are comprised of:

    a) perpetual victims, those who thrive on anger and unrest, and those who don’t want to take personal responsibility for their failures & successes;

    b) race baiters and phony identity politicians, whose embrace of racial unrest is professionally beneficial for them;

    c) white people who have been “woke.” I suspect the white virtue signalers actually harbor these feelings about black people, and are projecting those racist feelings onto the rest of us. Why is it the NIMBYs (based on my experience, at least) tend to live in elitist neighborhoods?

“Dr.

Nothing triggers rage in white, upper-middle-class Madison liberals like the phrase “personal responsibility,” especially when aimed at minorities since liberals cannot countenance the notion that POCs might be able to succeed without their largesse (always funneled through government programs). “Dr.” Love is just one of many well-paid cheerleaders for the education establishment that for decades has made a concerted effort to indoctrinate students with the toxic sludge of identity politics and an array of leftist propaganda designed to perpetuate the myth of victimhood/white guilt. The footage of Madison teachers cheering wildly as they were berated by this woman is surely the left’s version of a good ol’ tent revival. In this case, however, the faithful were being urged not to repent of all sin but only of one sin: RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACISM. Shout it loud, brothers and sisters!

Gary, you captured the essence of elitist mentality. I find it pompous, devoid of reason, and degrading to the people it purports to help.

If 5,000 adults want to be demeaned and feel badly about themselves, that’s their business. The tragic part is that they are also influencing young, impressionable minds – and this should give parents who value their children’s well-being, cause for alarm.

It may seem like it, but this mindset is not just a Madison phenomenon. It’s spreading.

Anywho, from a pure news standpoint (per Pew Research) FoxNews provides 45 % news coverage to MSLSD’s paltry 15 %.

Opinion? FoxNews 55 % to MSLSD’s whopping 85 %. This, The Gotch (who watches neither) strongly suspects, is why Lefties (most, not all) exist in laughably uninformed, O2 bereft bubblse; ALWAYS WRONG, BUT NEVER IN DOUBT.
