Call him ‘unelectable’ AND unfit
By calling him “unelectable,” Mr. DeSantis and others are drawing attention to Mr. Trump’s core weakness without actually calling it out. What they really mean is Mr. Trump is “unelectable” in the way that Lizzie Borden and Al Capone would have been unelectable—morally unfit, characterologically so flawed that his election would represent a threat to the stability of the republic.
If that’s what you mean, say it: Mr. Trump may or may not be electable. He has proved himself unfit. — Gerard Baker, editor at large, Wall Street Journal.

So much for tolerance
From National Review:
Former University of Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines testified before Congress on Tuesday about her frightening experience at San Francisco State University last month, when transgender-rights activists held her against her will for three hours and demanded a ransom for her release.
The incident occurred when Gaines visited SFSU on April 6 at the invitation of Turning Point USA and the Leadership Institute to speak about the right of women to compete on a level playing field. She testified that the school administration knew she as coming and she was told she would meet with campus police to discuss a security plan ahead of her talk. But then the campus police never showed up.
Gaines, who tied for fifth with transgender University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas in the 200-meter NCAA championship last year, gave her speech as protesters outside the room chanted, “We fight back.”

“The ‘Chaos’ at the border is by design”
“As a presidential candidate in 2020, Biden criticized Trump for “drastically” restricting access to asylum. Now he’s doing the very same thing.”

Question of the Day
What ‘Deep State’?
Rachael Rollins, the US attorney for Massachusetts, leaked sensitive Justice Department information to a journalist in an effort to influence a local election, lied to investigators and improperly attended a fundraiser with Jill Biden, according to two critical federal reports released Wednesday. (More here.)
How can anyone take them seriously?
Charles C.W. Cooke asks at National Review.
“Rachel Maddow made a career out of spreading lunatic conspiracy theories on MSNBC, as did Chris Hayes and Nicolle Wallace (who is still, today, rejecting all evidence that contradicts her fever dream). Adam Schiff lied relentlessly from his official perch on the United States House Committee on Foreign Affairs, and is now gearing up to run for the Senate.”

Taking the Republican purity test

Dave Zweifel wants to defund Republicans
