the great R. Crumb

Now even Derrick Van Orden is a RINO!

Takes aim at the nut-case Freedom Caucus!

First of all, happy Easter! We’ll post the Lovely Lisa’s traditional Easter brunch in a subsequent post. Know you can’t wait!

But we’re overjoyed over the news this morning that U.S. Rep. Derrick Van Orden, Republican from Wisconsin’s La Crosse/Eau Claire Third District, is going after the dysfunctional Freedom Caucus — the whack jobs that have whittled the Republican majority in Congress down to the nub.

These are the likes of Lauren Boebert, Matt Gaetz, Andy Biggs, and Chip Roy — purists attempting to purge their way to minority status. A crew more intolerant of debate than the old Soviet Politburo.

Which makes Derrick Van Orden — you guessed it! — a RINO in their view! Which is absurd on top of ridiculous. Van Orden is a former Navy Seal (he likes to remind you), tough as nails. If he was any more conservative, he’d be wearing a loin cloth and carrying a spear. V.O. is campaigning against the leader of the Freedom Caucus, Bob (the un) Good in the June 18 Virginia Republican primary.

“Bob Good didn’t come here to govern. He came here to be famous
. … If you look at what we have not been able to accomplish in this Congress, it’s predominantly because of Bob Good and his ilk.” — U.S. Rep. Derrick Van Orden told CNN.

Van Orden

The misnomered Freedom Caucus drove out Kevin McCarthy as Speaker and is hounding his replacement, Mike Johnson. Disgusted with these malcontents, the brightest light in Washington D.C., Green Bay’s Mike Gallagher, is quitting in disgust. But not until April 19 — just so he cannot be replaced, thereby leaving the seat vacant until January 2025! Gallagher joins Ken Buck of Colorado, a former member of the Freedom Caucus, who has also left town.

The dysfunctionalists are of the same ilk as Adam Steen, Adrienne Melby  and N.c. “Bill” Gillette, who keep trying to recall Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos — with the support of the ultimate purger, Donald Trump.

Van Orden and other sensible Republicans are campaigning on behalf of Good’s primary opponent, John McGuire, also a former Navy Seal who, it must be said, has endorsed Trump.

“I believe that my opponent wants to burn it all down, no solutions kind of guy,” McGuire said. “I think that we need leaders that want to grow the party and unite our country.”

Blaska’s Bottom Line: “RINO” is an acronym that stands for, “I don’t agree with you but I can’t debate you with anything like fact or reason.”

Who CAN unite the country?

Easter? The President proclaimed today as “Transgender Day Of Visibility”, perhaps Christianity should have rescheduled. People need to determine their priorities!

Transgender Day falls on 3/31 each year. Easter fell on the same day this year. Unless Biden has control over when holy days are celebrated you will just have to wait this next year. Get over it.

National debt is 34 trillion and an additional trillion every 100 days.

Trying to do something about it = “dysfunctional”.

    That’s where we are.
