Capital Times doubles down on Wokery!
We doubt Wisconsin Democrats are so thirsty as to drink The Capital Times’ Kool Aid. But who knows? Madison’s progressive voice demands (they use the word “must”) the party’s next nominee “must embody progressive values.” Must if they want to lose.
Their poster child is State Rep. Francesca Hong, who represents the Madison Isthmus, which is not exactly downtown Mosinee. She’s likely the nuttiest state rep. since that guy who thought he was Elvis. Opposed auditing the UW’s corrupt and spendthrift DEI bureaucracy, for starters.
Democrats can unite Wisconsin voters, The Capital Times fantasizes, around “economic, social, and racial justice.” After Biden/Harris, do those code words fool anyone any more? They’re Woke buzz words that translate to “socialism, diversity, equity, and inclusion.”
Sanctuary City killed those kids
Dane County Sheriff Kalvin Barrett won’t help ICE deport the intoxicated illegal immigrant whose wrong-way driving killed two young adults near Deforest 7-20-25. Says the woman should get justice in a Wisconsin prison. But deportation back to third-world Honduras is justice of a different kind. Why should WI taxpayers pay her room and board at a minimum security prison?
Consider that Noelia A. Martinez, age 30, was nabbed for drunk driving once before but was released into the community when she should be been deported.
She doesn’t like Wisconsin?
Hong wants to “reimagine what kind of state we want to be.” There’s that nebulous verb again! Remember “reimagining public safety.” (Here, here, here, and here!) That’s progressive speak for “Defund the Police.”

“We must start by acknowledging that our police and criminal justice system are directly tied to the legacy of slavery and slave patrols in our country. It was state-sanctioned violence against black people then, and it is certainly state-sanctioned violence against black people now.” — Nada Elmikashfi, chief of staff to State Rep. Francesca Hong
Most notoriously, The Capital Times demanded — and got — the Madison school board to defund school resource police officers from our increasingly troubled public high schools.
Sure enough, The Capital Times lights a votive candle at the altar of Zohran Mamdani, “who ran on a bold vision built on grassroots power and grounded in care.” Whatever that means. Progressives have learned never to say what they mean because it pisses people off. Or to say they didn’t really mean it after they’ve said it.
After a gunman killed four people in a Manhattan high-rise office building this week, Mamdani is back pedaling from his history of reimagining policing.
“We don’t need an investigation to know that the NYPD is racist, anti-queer & a major threat to public safety. What we need is to #DefundTheNYPD.” — Zohran Mamdani 2020
Blaska’s Bottom Line thanks The Capital Times for ignoring that Wisconsin is a purple state with no appetite for fringe candidates. Same goes for my Republican party.

I can see a reality show with Francesca Hong being dropped off at an ice-fishing hut up near Eagle River in January, where we see if she can hang with some conservative locals for more than 2 hours. Ratings gold.
HONG INVADES GUYS ON ICE! PRICELESS! 🤣
Reimagine what kind of state we want to be? How about a state without the likes of the lunatic Francesca Hong and her allies.
She couldn’t figure out how to boil noodles well enough to make a living, so she had to turn to woke politics instead. She and Nada are a freak show.
