Mark Pocan (D-Hamas) and Gwen Moore (D-Milwaukee) attempted to pose for holy pictures with illegals held in the Dodge County jail for I.C.E. Denied their Sen. Van Hollen moment, we don’t know if the two Democrats consoled each other over margaritas afterward.
Wisconsin Democrats, at least, are sticking to the old-time religion: racial grievance, welfare statism, class warfare, open borders, redistributionism (aka “socialism”), Greta Thunberg, and pronouns.
Here in Madison, The Capital Times (“Dane County’s Progressive Voice”) announced the headliner for its Idea Fest this September: Tim Walz, the Minnesota governor who, with Kamala Harris, elected Donald Trump and J.D. Vance.
These five years later, Tim still bends a knee to the patron saint of Black Lives Matter and urban arson: “George Floyd’s murder marked a turning point in our nation and sparked a global movement. Minnesotans raised their voices, calling for justice and real, meaningful change to prevent a murder like this from ever happening again.”
“The irony,” Wall Street Journal columnist Jason Riley counters, “is that black support for law enforcement, even after Floyd’s death, remained above 50 percent, notwithstanding efforts by liberal activists, academics and cable-news commentators to shrink police budgets and curry favor with black voters.”
Crime control isn’t the only matter on which average black voters and left-wing elites diverge. Tim Walz required public schools to provide tampons to students in 4th through 12th grades — in boys’ as well as girls’ lavatories. The edict’s “inclusive language” reflects that “not all people who menstruate are women, and not all women get periods.”
Walz himself admits he’s “probably the last guy” from whom anyone should seek counsel on the way forward. Capital Times publisher Paul Fanlund, to his credit, includes that quote.
Then again, Wisconsin elected a governor who speaks of “inseminated persons” instead of “moms.” And breast-feeding Pete Buttigieg is leading the 2028 Democrat(ic) presidential field. (Read & Weep)

I’ve always thought the Cap Times so-called “Idea Fest” is a misnomer of the first order. The only ideas they’re interested in are ones that would be right at home on the Cap Times Opinion pages. Who but Madison progressive elites would shell out good money to hear the likes of Tampon Tim bloviate on the left’s sacraments, which you aptly describe as racial grievance, welfare statism, class warfare, open borders, wealth redistribution, and pronouns? Or maybe he’ll spend his allotted time expatiating on the finer points of putting tampons in men’s restrooms. I assume they’re right next to that other indispensable item, diaper changing stations. It’s clear that nowhere, even your local sh***er, is immune from the left’s virtue signaling.
Hot off the presses: Middle school students in Eugene, Oregon (where else?) were instructed to dress up as drag queens/kings in celebration of Pride Month and then dress all in black to honor victims of anti-LGBTQAWXYZ violence. The left just keeps shoveling dirt into its own grave.
