That’s Schimel’s task in Dane County!
The faceless bureaucrats, masked to elude Musk’s Musketeers, took the tarp off Ol’ Sparky, our Eisenhower-era mainframe computer, to crunch a few numbers pending the outcome of today’s Wisconsin spring election, which is non-partisan. Yeah, and Susan Crawford is tuff on crime. And dishwasher safe!
A helluva lot is riding on Judge Brad Schimel v. “that crazy woman” (as Trump calls her), namely:
• An early, by-election referendum on the Trump presidency and the future of MAGA.
• Act 10.
• Partisan make-up of the state’s congressional delegation.
• Rise or fall of the careers of a few political operatives.
We take as our lodestar the 2023 state supreme court race when Janet (spell it with us) Protasiewicz racked up huge numbers here in Madison and Dane County, the second-most populous county in the state. The lady jurist snowed her conservative opponent, Dan Kelly, 82% to a pitiful 18% of the vote here. With numbers so huge they accounted for 19.3% of her statewide vote total, to flip the state court to 4 to 3 progressive. Schimel’s job is to flip it back.

Why we fight!
Rep. Francesca Hong, D-Madison, spells it out for progressive voters
Dane County’s voter participation two years ago was an off the charts 62.3% for a Spring election. Statewide, only 39% of voters turned out — and that’s with Dane County factored in. The county’s 197,029 votes for Spell It With Us exceeded her 170,540-vote haul in Milwaukee County, the state’s most populous and normally Democrats’ biggest bonanza. Enthusiasm for the conservative candidate, meanwhile, was so lackluster statewide that he lost two Republican congressional districts, those of Bryan Steil in the southern First District and of Derrick Van Orden in SW WI’s Third District. Kelly‘s 55.4% to 44.4% defeat qualifies as a landslide here in purple Wisconsin

While deeply blue Dane County accounted for 13.1% of the statewide total vote for supreme court two years ago, the county’s share receded to 10.7% in the 2024 presidential race, reflecting the low temperature toward the Democrat(ic) nominee and Trump enthusiasm among low-propensity voters out-state. At the same time, Dane County burped up 23.4% of its votes for Donald Trump — a marginal improvement over his 22.9% share when he lost the state (he really did!) to Joe Biden four years earlier. Dane County helped Trump turn Wisconsin red by 29,397 votes — 49.6% to 48.7% — his narrowest winning margin of the 50 states.
And you were told there would be no math!
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Ol’ Sparky thinks enthusiasm for Schimel out-state, driven by Musk magic, will hold Dane County’s percentage of the statewide vote under the 13% it recorded in Kelly v Prota-something. But Schimel needs to match Trump’s 23% share of Dane County’s vote.
Ol’ Sparky also picks the UW Badgers to go all the way in this year’s men’s NCAA basketball tournament.

Progressives are so ridiculously immature I just don’t understand how anyone can vote for them
Ol’ Sparky did not predict which year or the sport the uw badgers would win. They did win ncaa womens hockey tournament. Hahaha.
Francesca Hong is proof that Madison progressives have no standards and no shame. They elected a crude belligerent loudmouth that failed at boiling noodles to public office.
and you have Dementia Don, a loudmouth, no standards, no shame, corrupt, crude, belligerent, stupid fool who is a convicted felon with more business failures than you can count. Go Crawford.
More business successes than Hong by a light year, which stupid fools cannot achieve. And the felonies are legally questionable. The rest has merit.
Deflect much?
turn out the lights the bleeding is over. Can you say Crawford? Brads’ campaign looks like a burned out tesler.
“Musk magic”?
It has now been proven that the asshole with the chainsaw is pure political poison.
