So spaketh Doris Day!
We’ve scared off enough Platinum subscribers the last few days with our outrage over … well, You Know the Thing. The faceless bureaucrats at The Werkes regard the last two posts as Culling the Herd. Some can’t handle the truth; we can’t handle popularity. (Anybody left out there? We heard coughing.)

A Facebook friend we wouldn’t know from Boris Epshteyn expresses relief that, since the Inauguration of a former President on January 20, “the last four years of hell are finally over.” Attempting to generate some empathy, we asked our social media correspondent (now that fact checking has been disabled) what kind of hell had he endured these past four years?
Blood in the urine?
Wife took off with her Pilates instructor?
Fired for cause?
IRS wants to talk?
Kid held hostage in a Gaza tunnel?
Named a co-conspirator?
Stash of child porn discovered?
Ineligible for Ozempic?
Presidential pardon hasn’t come through?
If none of the above, you are awarded the Snow Flake (second class) medal. Like Vito told Johnny Fontane: “You can be a man!“
It is what it is
Advising our Biden/Kammy martyr that we’re fresh out of purple hearts for what is likely a simple case of angst over student loan forgiveness, maybe a little intestinal gas courtesy Dr. Rachel Levine. Dr. David prescribes some old-fashioned escapism. (There’s a reboot of Matlock. With a real woman!) As for our liberal/progressive … acquaintances, we suspect they will survive the new guy if we don’t fixate on his crimes, real and imagined. So might us RINOs. (“If you prick us, do we not bleed?”)

Frankly, at our age, the last four years disappear into the mist of the last 40. We endured eight years of Obama-gration with no discernible trauma. We seem to be surviving Tony Evers, while reserving some sympathy for the Republican legislators forced to endure his 56-minute State of the State speech last night. Mr. Excitement he is not. (O.K., he did this!) Tony the slow-talker kept asking to spend more one-time money that the WI Policy Forum warns warns is drying up. Tony is a Democrat.
As for the town we love, we know the Progressive Dane dues-payer now serving as mayor of Madison WI will plow our street from snow — maybe not until March, but still.
Here’s some equity for you!
We take our enjoyment where we can find it — an occasional sip of schadenfreude, with a splash of bitters. Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos forced the Universities of Wisconsin to audit how many valuable resources it wastes on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Lo (and behold!) the System “had enough information to remove LaVar Charleston from the role.” (Read & Weep) That is, we suspect, called Scratching the Surface. We knew DEI was an intellectual scam; not surprised it’s a financial scam, as well. Protection money. (Please don’t call us racist! We’re paying Mr. Charleston a salary (in 2023) of $308,825. That’s annually, before the graft.) The governor makes $165,000!
Blaska’s Bottom Line: If Blaska were back at his old speech-writing desk in the governor’s office (now an EPA Superfund clean-up site), he would toss Tony a line about taking back the Upper Peninsula in a blitzkrieg attack on Munising. Maybe during deer hunting season. At least the guy back in the White House stirs the blood. Like ol’ Dan Burnham said, “Make no little plans.” Just enjoy the show!

Wow, now it sounds like you’re supporting Obama/Biden/Evers because you didn’t suffer anything material directly. Dave I think you need to step back from the keyboard go for a walk and get your compass reoriented!
The point was Have Some Perspective. Can you?
Don’t worry Dave; I’m with you on this. After listening to Dementia Don reading his teleprompter speech today I will raise my membership to Copper Level. It sounded like a 4th grader reading in front of their class about their summer vacation. This day one crap only put money in Dementia Don’s pocket. His crypto is doing well. Granny looking at $8 eggs, drugs going up, gas prices higher; she’s not doing so well. But; as long as the people blindly following Dumb Donny can sit on their tri-decked all-white, all-right big house that their daddy left them; everything will be coming up tomatoes.
Good one Liesak: you question Trump’s intelligence yet supported Biden over the last 4 years. Perhaps you could stick your chin out any further!
I tried to have some perspective after the election but seeing how the Democrats have behaved since Trump won I no longer give them any quarter and Trump should go scorched Earth on them!
Democrats went scorched earth after Trump 1.0. But seem to be more complaisant for Trump 2.0. Confirmed his Secretary of State. How have they misbehaved?
How did your people behave after Biden won? What does questioning Dementia Don and supporting Biden have in common. Nothing. Typical MAGA. Your guy won, but it’s never enough. You want scorched earth; GO FOR IT. Start by using your real name when you post your grievances about how you suffered under Biden. Maybe Dave will send you one of those snowflake medals For everything you have endured.
Still working on that there silk purse, Blaska…?

Love it. Dick is still trying to decipher it.
And ICE is all over Chicago grabbing illegals and any of their children they may have. Oh wait. Homan and Dementia Don chickened out and tried to blame Jessie (can’t hold his) Watters for some leak. C’mon that was funny!!!
Exactly what we voted for, unlike the corpse that just left the white house. Hopefully Madison can lower its crime rate that is through the roof, but, will not see those stats in this city’s media. Hidden very well. I see lots through other venues and Holy crap!!
Now that the Jan 6 rioters/insurgents/insurrectionists/patriots/hostages are roaming free, how about urging them to gather one more time to storm the offices of the UW-Madison administrators in Bascom and Van Hise Halls? Any institution that pays some scam artist/grifter/extortionist/layabout over $300,000 a year to ensure that unqualified minorities get admitted to the UW deserves to be subjected to the the same mayhem they visited on the U.S. Capitol four years ago. As it is, ‘Dr.’ Charleston’s punishment is to return to his tenured professorship in the School of Education (naturally) at a salary that, though reduced, is probably still more than that miserable old scarecrow in the governor’s office makes.
If you like storming buildings why not go there yourself and do it. Bring all your friends too. If you punch enouigh cops maybe Dementia Don will give you some job that you’re unqualified to hold.
Have not lost me at all, I just do not care about that topic anymore. And 77 million people decided they did not either. Peace Out
Throw the man a bone and let him be a martyr if only for a day.
76.5 million of whom expected Trump to pardon only the non-violent. That includes his vice president, J.D. Vance.
Biden set the stage by pardoning real criminals including murderers and rapists.
The two wrongs make a right, theory.
Misbehaved with ongoing rhetoric, continuing the “resistance”, insulting the average American’s intelligence for not understanding the “message”, etc… Heck just read Liesak and Anonymous’ comments for real time examples. Letting bygones be bygones doesn’t work for these people.
Dementia Don let Ulbricht out. A jury gave him double life +40 years. Now he’s your hero. In less than 24 hours he received $111’111 in (donations?). Come over for a visit. Ask your good buddy crotch for my addy; he’s been following me around investigating me for years. He’s also too much of a coward to use his name you.Just another little beeauch hiding behind a keyboard.
Dave couldn’t answer you right now. He was busy running to the post office to get your snowflake medal in the mail.
To truly grasp history, it must be viewed in the context of “zeitgeist”.
I remember Jan. 6th. After months and months of “mostly peaceful riots, I wasn’t surprised that the right would eventually resort to the same tactics at some point. I expected it! I was surprised, but not shocked, when things turned violent. Protests, ALL protests, are fertile ground for agitators. I wish this reality had carried more weight with Mr. Trump in his remarks at that time.
My shock first registered when it became clear the zeal that the government hunted these protesters. After all, EVERYTHING any protester does is a misdemeanor, isn’t it? Burning businesses and government buildings? Misdemeanor! Vandalism and looting? Misdemeanor! Attempted murder of a police officer using bricks, chunks of concrete, frozen water bottles? Misdemeanor! This was the “Gunpowder Plot”, without the “plot”, (or the “gunpowder”). Unlike the “black lives” rioters, these folks had to take off work and find childcare. The “black lives” rioters were somehow viewed as being more justified, yet there was exponentially more evidence of a “stolen election”, than there was of “systemic racism” or of the police “hunting and killing blacks”. Perhaps all of the “stolen election” stuff has been disproved, don’t know- no longer care. The people, on that day, genuinely believed it, though.
One group disrupted the entire country for months on end, and caused billions of dollars in damage, and extorted many millions more from businesses and the general public. The other group swarmed the Capitol, and made news for one day. It happened, it’s done, everyone got pardoned on BOTH sides, we should move on now.
Hear Hear!

Perfect summation and decree. I am so over this, onto hopefully a well funded campaign for Brad S for wi supreme court.
When considering terms like “sedition”, “treason”, etc. applied to Jan 6th, — consider this:
The American Civil War resulted in the deaths of 500,000 combatants, and killed or maimed over 1,000,000 Americans in all, (2% of the population). By the end of 1868 the President (Andrew Johnson) had blanket pardoned the entire South, for the good of the country. It did nothing for his popularity, but was the right choice.
I get your appeal to equivalency, PantiPants. I do not need to link to the scores of fire alarms we pulled in these quarters over the looters, arsonists, and diaper wetters who battled police and prayed to St. George of Floyd for salvation. On that score, I think I have been consistent, not that you must. Andrew Johnson did, indeed, pardon the secessionists, although that is not the perfect precedent you imagine. Lincoln’s vice president pardoned the enemy; Trump pardoned his allies. (To the victor …) We also pardoned Germans and Japanese after WW2 but we hung their leaders.
You don’t have the argument from me that you imagine. Having barely read newspapers, let alone worked at one, I have no idea what “250 words” looks like, so l hesitated to expand my thoughts.
You are absolutely correct about Andrew Johnson, and about Trump pardoning his allies. The over-riding, nonpartisan, “squint your eyes”, big picture result is the same. If the government seeks to treat one side as “merry pranksters”, and the other side as the “epitome of evil”, they just make martyrs of their political prisoners. Pardoning them, (by whomever), removes that martyr status. As to the other side? This was the first year without a Biden led “Jan 6th Memorial Service”, good riddance!! Ready to move on.
I’m sorry, and apologize for commenting yet again.
I had to re-read your article up above to remind myself of the original topic, “having the right perspective”.
“Lincoln’s vice president pardoned the enemy; Trump pardoned his allies”.
If I substitute the words “American citizens” for both “enemy” and “allies”, I can certainly see your point. I think you’re really on to something there.
unconscionable violation of 250 word limit, please delete.

You asked for it, Blaska:
This Is Why DEI_MUST_DIE
““As a result of the [DEI] mandate, Northwestern University School of Law refuses to even consider hiring white male faculty candidates with stellar credentials, while it eagerly hires candidates with mediocre and undistinguished records who check the proper diversity boxes, (NW violates the law by) hiring women and racial minorities with mediocre and undistinguished records over white men who have better credentials, better scholarship, and better teaching ability,”
Three eminently qualified law professors were denied interviews, why? They tested Melanin Negative.
It gets better.
“But then-Dean Dan Rodriguez, during a faculty meeting, THREATENED TO WITHHOLD BONUSES from any faculty member who would vote against> (Destiny) <i>Peery (who graduated near the bottom class) or attempt to thwart her appointment.” . (bolds/caps/italics mine))
And better yet.
The suit claims Professor Eugene Volokh (quantifiably more qualified than any current NW law professors) was unacceptable because he was “neither homosexual nor transgender”…leave alone white.
This case has it all: Conspiracy, extortion, intimidation, federal law violations, and racial, sexual, gender discrimination on steroids…and that pesky Civil Rights thingey.
NW will get the everLUVin’ $#!T sued out of ’em; deep eight figures. Better yet? Didn’t Earn It’s deep…um…dark underbelly will be fully displayed, giving it a very high profile (heh!) bLack eye and a tsunami of similar suits.

Costco just had a shareholder meeting about DEI. 98% of the shareholders voted to tell Dementia Don TO SUCK THE BIG ONE!!!!. He might think he can bully and bs a few spineless appointees and MAGANUTS, but the private sector not so much. You want to save us from red dye; burn your MAGA hat.
“Costco just had a shareholder meeting about DEI. 98% of the shareholders voted to tell Dementia Don TO SUCK THE BIG ONE!!!!.”
A few self-righteous holdouts aside, most companies are shaking off DEI like a bad case of fleas. Target, Walmart, John Deere, Harley Davidson, Amazon, Meta, McDonald’s, Molson Coors, Boeing, Ford, Lowe’s, Brown-Forman, and more. Turns out that DEI policies pissed off so many people during the Biden years that they voted to give DEI opponents control of the White House and both chambers of Congress. Turns out that trying to persuade people through guilt, scolding, and browbeating rarely works. Turns out Democrats didn’t learn a thing from the Dylan Mulvaney – Budweiser debacle. Turns out most professionals loathe having their career paths upended by social justice warriors with Cracker Jack box degrees.
Anyone who thinks these companies actually cared about DEI is naive. They by and large conduct their business according to whichever way the political winds are blowing. Glad they’re now blowing in a better direction.
“A few self-righteous holdouts aside, most companies are shaking off DEI like a bad case of fleas.”
You really don’t expect irredeemably imbecilic cretins to recognize that fact-based observation, do you?
“Anyone who thinks these companies actually cared about DEI is naive.”

Speaking of video escapes, I’ve been bingeing on “The Osbournes Want to Believe”. Clears my mind and makes me laugh.
So, Dementia Don releases 1500 of his brown shirts. The guy who runs SilkRoad. Then pulls all security assigned to government workers that he claimed, over and over, that are his enemies. What could possibly go wrong? Say something donny doesn’t like; you go on a deportation list. Vance gave an interview to a news person not on the MAGA favorites list and the right lit up the internet insulting him. There’s a movement to change the Constitution to placate their fearless leader. ICE detaining veterans. Congrats guys. You now deserve everything coming down the road for you.

Who cares. Nice cherry-picking from faux news though. So, this Saigon princess who made her money when she dumped her billionaire husband likes Dementia Don. What a surprise. Must be about her newfound tax breaks or looking for an appointment. Another grifter looking for a handout.
Until you were sitting blurry-eyed watching faux news for 36 hours straight you never heard of Miss Saigon. A bored divorcee got her 5 min of video and now you are star struck? I’m sure that all the peasants who bought groceries or put gas in their car today were really trilled to hear her opinion. Does this mean that all her servants and staff are now off the deportation list?
I can’t speak for the Platinum subscribers, but being scared off by dissension is more of a progressive thing. Among the thinking class, discussion and discord are the filters that bring the open minded closer to a more accurate picture of reality. That being said, I’m taken aback at your reasoning on the…you know the thing. There are many reasons to throw out, commute, or pardon a conviction. You seem to be focused on the shenanigans of the accused, but you should really be focused on the other side of the bar. I’ve read many a take on the events of the thing and the legal aftermath. This is the one that pushed me over the edge. The court ordered suspension of the defendants’ constitutional rights in these cases not only justifies President Trump’s actions, but demands it. Instead of vomiting vitriol at the victims, save it for the cruel, corrupt, and partisan judiciary that thought prosecutorial misconduct and judicial malfeasance was a good idea.
Brava, nemo; worth the wait!
