Poor fellow is in terminal stage progressivism!
If you want to know who elected Donald Trump, look no further than the publisher of The Capital Times here in the progressive, college town bubble of Madison WI. Paul Fanlund panders to the angry Democrat(ic) base, which is in denial of its complicity in electing Donald Trump — the complete repudiation of their Woke worldview.
That lack of introspection explains Fanlund’s tic of ascribing every progressive defeat to the twin boogey … persons of racism and sexism — and not to idiocies like Defund the Police (“The three dumbest words in the English language.” — James Carville), which Fanlund championed.
Paul once wrote about a UW-Madison professor who went into the hinterlands of rural Wisconsin to spelunk the natives, like Margaret Mead in pith helmet to Borneo, “to better understand these non-college white Trump voters and start to better position Democratic candidates to speak to their issues and concerns” — of which Mr. Fanlund sees no need:
“Speak to what? Speak to their racism, their sexism or their selfishness? You tell me.”

Call us first, Paul
We would tell — if only he had asked before committing such ignorance to print! The publisher waxes nostalgic for the factory workers of his youth in Rockford IL, WW2 veterans who:
may not have thought much about feminism and civil rights, but seemed content to run their machines all day and then head off to their six packs and cigarettes. — Paul Fanlund, The Capital Times
And voted Democrat until that party left them for the faculty lounge. Read the highlighted quote again. (We’ll wait.) Is it possible to be any more condescending? Those worker drones, Fanlund writes, were too unenlightened to throw a wrench into the machinery in the struggle for feminism and civil rights — unlike Paul Fanlund! No, the lumpen proletariat were content to run their machines, drink beer, and screw Mabel rather than correct their pronouns and pay slave reparations.
Paul, ever wonder how those factory jobs got hollowed out?
More victim mongering
Among the iniquities of Trump voters is a supposed willingness “to tell young women and people of color they should continue to know their place as second-class citizens.” Women and hispanics voted FOR Trump. Maybe Paul is just mansplaining.
“Trump voters are willing to tell immigrants who — like their own northern European ancestors — are simply seeking the American dream, that that door is now closed.” — Paul Fanlund, The Capital Times
No, Paul. The door is wide open! Go through it as your ancestors did, not around it! Even Kamala got religion, albeit too late. More Woke Paul:
Trump voters are saying that if they cannot get everything they want out of life, they don’t want people who strive through education and ingenuity and hard work to get what they want, either.
Platinum subscribers, did your heads just go BOING! Paul, is that why Biden/Harris are making truck drivers pay off the college loans incurred by grievance studies majors?
Blaska’s Bottom Line: And Paul wonders why Democrats lost the blue collar vote! Does he have a mirror?

He’s so thirsty. The good progressives kicked him out of their dinner clubs due to his NIMBYism and now he’s trying to weasel his way back in.
Pathetic.
Fanland should thank you for posting his unhinged slobbering, Blaska; most people will never see it because it’s in an unreadable rag they can’t even give away.
The Gotch
NEWS FLASH!
I think Paul Fanlund is showing us that he’s an arrogant partisan bigot.
I’m shocked, SHOCKED I say.
On the other hand…
After the last 15+ years of observation, I think that Fanlund’s kind of blatant partisan bigotry is not isolated within the political left, in fact I think it’s generally representative for most of the political left, so they’ve got that going for them.
Great post, Dave. Fanlund is the epitome of projection: an arrogant, racist turd. Sadly, as predicted, the Regressives will now double down on their ridiculous rhetoric because to do otherwise would be admitting they’re wrong– and that will never happen.
I love the blog of our police chief. It is basically the obits of the very elderly and the updates of rides to Winnebago to get evaluated for 6 weeks then walk out of the revolving door. Entertaining. But, worthless according to other info sites.
You left out the part of Paul’s screed where he finds comfort amid the wreckage of the Democrats’ rout by contemplating the wonderfulness of Madison, where, safe within their elitist bubble, he and his ilk will continue to live with their snoots poised firmly in the air while the rest of the country suffers under the lash of the fascist they chose to rule over them. Of course, this is the same Madison where working class folk, from whom Paul claims to have sprung, can’t afford to buy a house–or even rent a decent apartment. Where identity politics will continue unabated despite being soundly rejected by the rest of the country. Where rich white liberals predictably vote for higher taxes without a thought for those who can’t afford to subsidize their largesse. Where citizens crow and preen over their commitment to inclusion and diversity, except, of course, for anyone who doesn’t think like them.
Which is why progressives want to choke off school choice.
Funny how the gap between the rich and the poor is growing in Madison as it has in SF, Manhattan, Berkeley, Santa Monica etc. Wonder what else they have in common with Madison? Your thoughts Mr. Fanlund?
Their new mantra is calling voters stupid and garbage. That went over well. Did Paul tell the DNC to adapt that slogan?
Paul “NIMBY” Fanlund stood with Dick Cheney.
I hate Dick Cheney Nazis.
Great article. Something tells me that Fanboy isn’t going to be a fan of yours.
