Brother Mike calls to say the Werkes’ election predictions are goofier than Kamala Harris at a town hall. (He was more diplomatic, but we get his gist.) Mike is more often right than not. He suggests we trade in Ol’ Sparky, our Eisenhower-era mainframe computer, for something more up to date. (We do have our eye on a Kaypro II, slightly used.) We admit some of our election picks are meant to buck prevailing wisdom, ignore voter polls, and defy common sense. Like Eric Hovde AND Kamala Harris both could win Wisconsin! Well, they could!
Kamala is working Wisconsin’s once bright-red WOW counties ringing Milwaukee. Just this week she toured with Liz Cheney, the RINO queen.
The visit was part of the campaign’s strategy to win over more white college-educated voters, particularly women, who have historically voted Republican but don’t like Trump. … While the suburbs are becoming more diverse, many, including those around Milwaukee, are still heavily white. The WSJ poll showed Harris leading Trump 52% to 43% among white voters with college degrees in the seven battleground states. — Wall Street Journal

Our reasoning for picking Hovde but not Trump here in Wisconsin is that four years ago, the sitting Republican President trailed each and every one of our eight Republican congressional candidates. Take the most populous of the three WOW counties, alone. Trump took 59.6% of the vote in Waukesha county but the two Republican congressmen who share the county (Bryan Steil and Scott Fitzgerald) claimed 78.1% in 2020. That’s some serious under-performance, Donald!
It says lifelong Republicans in prosperous Waukesha County can’t get to Trump. Because Steil and Fitzgerald are about as rock-ribbed as Republicans get. Any more conservative and they would be chucking spears and wearing loin cloths. Maybe this time around Kamala will seem more threatening than Biden in the Basement. Give this to Trump, he does bring in new voters unaffiliated with any party.
So it is not happenstance that the mayor of Waukesha, the most populous city in the three WOW counties, announced for Kamala this week. “Originally a Republican, Shawn Reilly became an independent in 2021 following the January 6 United States Capitol attack.” Wikipedia also reveals the guy — mayor for 10 years — is a “competitive barbecuer.” So he’s got that going for him.

We find it instructive that MAGA world blames the feckless voter, not the flawed candidate for not winning them over. As state’s evidence, witness the promiscuous — and constitutionally illiterate — misuse of the word “traitor.” As with this goof:
Blaska’s Bottom Line: The Werkes has no doubt lists are being compiled, that plans are being drafted, and that careers (If not worse) will be ended. Would not be the first purge in history, if you get our drift. Contrary to Capitol and DC police regs, the gallows was permitted to remain in place all day, and the inevitable security videos of that episode were never made public.
