Whenever that was.
Like Paul Revere’s midnight ride, a friend called late last night to spread the news that Elon Musk was warning that the next presidential election is the most important of our lifetimes. Yawn.
It’s like my golf instructor said. (Blaska took lessons?) Q. What’s the most important shot in golf? A. The next one.
Having survived well past his sell-by date, the Head Groundskeeper remembers elections dating back to JFK’s, lo these 64 years ago. Every one of them promised to determine the future of not only of the Republic, or even of the Free World, but of humankind. In one sense, they’re right — at least, in the sense of the barely perceptible breeze created by that butterfly in India. Conjuring armageddon is an election-year tradition, like attack ads and robocalls, to gin up the vote — whether for the presidency or your local sewerage district commissioner. That’s why Blaska is unmoved when Good Gummint Goo Goos fret that only 75% of eligible voters bestirred themselves in the last presidential contest here in Wisconsin — a battleground state, after all. Good for the 25%!
“The most important election you have ever been called to attend,” a Philadelphia newspaper thundered in a full-page editorial. The anti-federalist Aurora urged the election of Thomas McKean as governor, in 1805. (And so he was, to America’s ever-lasting gratitude.)

We do subscribe to the Great Man Theory of history but how many of our Presidents are Caesars, Napoleons, or Churchills?
Certainly Washington and fershure Lincoln. Even his re-election in 1864 was seismic. McClellan would have allowed the southern states to secede, but one suspects they would have rejoined at some point. (O.K., maybe not Texas.) Had Herbert Hoover won re-election in 1932 the economic Depression might well have ended sooner, not later. Wendell Wilkie would have prosecuted the war in 1941. It didn’t take Ronald Reagan to beat Jimmy Carter — that guy on the Gong Show could have defeated him. Truth be told, Bill Clinton wasn’t the disaster we Republicans were promised. (Trump makes Bubba look like a monk.) It took Barack Obama to nail Osama bin Laden. Bush 2 couldn’t do it.
Belgium, for two years, had no government at all and it’s still Belgium. (On the other hand, that’s all it is.) Same with most governors. Did anyone notice that Jim Doyle was governor? (He was, for eight years!)
As lamentable as is the choice between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, we’re in trouble if one man (or woman) makes that much difference! Today’s inspirational message: It doesn’t!
xxx xxx
Trump has convinced MAGA nation that they are “losing their country.” That an invisible but all-powerful Deep State is pulling our strings. (A charge with some justification.) Biden, for his part, poses November 5 as the Waterloo of democracy, almost suggesting that Trump will return Alaska to the Russkies for a concession at the Sevastopol Airport. To all of which the faceless bureaucrats at the Policy Werkes retort: How ’bout them Badgers!
→ “Americans agree the 2024 election will be pivotal for democracy.”
The 2024 election is being over-hyped more than Al Capone’s secret vault. The lamentable result is bloodbath either way and for no good purpose. If Trump wins, Antifa will reassemble like iron filings under a magnet, the pussy hats will come out of mothballs, and garments will be rent — or has 2016 been forgotten? If it’s Biden (again), Nancy Pelosi would be well advised to take up any offer of National Guard and to hide her cache of cabernet sauvignon.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: We have our druthers (Bobby Junior!) but fear no outcome. Our basement larder is stocked high with imperishable foodstuffs. Precious metal is locked away in the gun safe. Fresh ammo. Not even N.c. Gillette and his moronic anti-Vos, Blaska-defaming posse puckers our posteriors.
Like that disco song from 1979, we will survive but it might help to turn down the volume.

Congrats Tony for vetoing the two repub election bills. Great job.
“If Trump wins, Antifa will reassemble like iron filings under a MAGGOT (sic)”
ANTIFA ARE AN EMBARRASSMENT TO STREET GANGS. Unless they outnumber you by at least 100 to 1, they are comically non-threatening. One thing Blacks, Whites, women, men, Muslims, atheists, and Christians all have in common? There are YouTube videos of them BEATING THE DOG $#!T OUT OF ANTIFA.
The average Antifa is a pasty, doughy low-testosterone college-aged male who has never done manual labor or been in a fight, but feels confident that maybe he can at least sucker-punch a girl from behind or hit a senior citizen with a bike lock or something, as long as he’s wearing a mask and in a crowd of at least 50 like-minded dorks.
Yell “boo” and they scatter like cockroaches when the lights come on. They don’t vote and literally don’t know what a ‘fascist’ is or what the words from which “Nazi” derives.
These gutless morons have officially passed the pu$$ies from Power Rangers to claim the title of Least Threatening ‘Nadless Beta Males in Ninja Outfits

Oscar Wilde also said “I can resist anything except temptation” over 125 years ago. Some Europeans still cannot resist the temptation to deride America.

Who is the guy with the glasses smoking a cigarette saying, ”You think I don’t know that?” Are you trying to tell us something, Gotch?
“Who is the guy with the glasses smoking a cigarette“
Are you serious? It’s SNL’s highfreakin’larious Martin Short as Nathan Thurm
The Gotch
I know who Martin Short is. I just don’t watch SNL anymore. Shocked?
“I just don’t watch SNL anymore. Shocked?“
The Gotch doesn’t either, and he’s not shocked. Short’s Thurm was mid-80s; SNL was still funny, then.

What’s the most important shot in golf? Besides the Mulligan? RITOS would love a do-over for 2020.
“How much snow we gonna get here in Madison WI Friday?“
Less than we were led to believe; ~3″/7.6cms here, ~1.2 miles/1.9 kms NNE of Blaska.

Farewell Mike Gallager. Besides resigning he picked a date to leave that kicked the Goobers On Parade right in the nads. Any more of these bozos jump the fence the rebums won’t have enough members to form a 4th of July celebration committee. Well; you still have Gaetz, Greene and Blowbert.
Farewell is EXACTLY what Black and Hispanic voters are saying to despicable Lefty; to wit:
