Critical race theory on a mural!
We hate this mural. Well, maybe “hate” is too strong a word. …
No, it isn’t. We hate, hate, hate this mural because it teaches grievance, racial enmity, and victimhood. Its message: Blame Whitey for Your Failure.
The damn thing blights the outside wall of a pharmacy at the corner of Monroe and Harrison Streets, the very beating heart of progressive Madison WI. It is a product of something called the Monroe Street Anti-Racism Project. The guilty white woman in charge told Channel 3000:
“The first thing I saw was that very tall white woman standing in the middle amongst all of these black children,” she said. To me, just that visual really made me feel uncomfortable to be honest. It kind of made a sinking feeling in my stomach, like ‘Oh my gosh, this is us. This represents me and white society.’”
Speak for yourself, guilty white woman. A letter to the newspaper editor encapsulates the problem:
It highlights the idea that based on skin color, you’re either destined to thrive or to fail. No matter what. It evokes a sense of futility and pessimism that can be found all too frequently in discussions of race.
The woke progressive vending machine on the left side of the mural offers these choices to kids of color: Poverty, no home ownership, environmental racism (huh?), food desert, prison, police brutality, income gap, poor education, poor health care.
Who is dispensing money for these choices: the lone white person in the mural. Faceless, of course. In other words, your teacher is a racist. Great. And we wonder why only 10% of black kids can read at grade in Madison’s public schools.
The cure for this racial iniquity? “No Cops In Schools” — the beachhead of the Defund the Cops movement. “Restorative Justice” (aka: the revolving door), and “College Attainment.” Is it too churlish to point out that one an attain college and success in life, generally, by the real vending machine choices available right here in Madison WI:
- Go to school, behave, and listen to teacher
- Don’t do drugs or gangs
- Don’t do crime if you don’t want to do time
- Quit eating at Mickie D’s; Eat healthy
- That first job leads to a better job
- Start a savings account
- Report the shooters to police
- Stop playing the victim
- Only in America can you reach your full potential
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Let’s get Prof. John McWhorter’s forthcoming book into the hands of the guilty progressives in the Monroe-Dudgeon neighborhood. Its title: Woke Racism; how a new religion has betrayed black America.
Someone should paint Kamala Harris’s face on the lady in the middle and Al Sharpton leading the children up to Harris.

What you subsidize you get more of.
Racialists get lots of money in Mad Town.
That woman in the center of the mural must be a white supremacist.

The big lie of that mural is throwing the Asian and Indian kids in there. Heck they have been more successful than Caucasians over the last few decades. Nigerian immigrants too. All the problems in that vending machine are endemic only in the lower class African American “community” . It’s a shit mindset that grifters are happy to milk for profit.
A book is not going to fix it. Kaleem Caire’s school might though.

Yes, racist and guilt-ridden sums up the mural (and, at least at some remove for this non-resident, local Madison politics more generally). In that regard, it’s interesting that the self-styled moderate, Mayor Dave, shows his yellow stripes, https://yellowstripsdeadarmadillos.org/2021/10/05/mural-makes-good-trouble-on-monroe-st/, by saying that the mural:
• is “courageous … it makes a spot on criticism of white, affluent liberals”);
• was coincidentally completed the same week the Heg statue was restored, and oh by the way, its destruction at least arguably “ma(d)e a point about liberal Madison being too smug about its political correctness while making little actual progress.”
If Mayor Dave represents the face of the moderate middle in Madison, then it has no future in Madison. He can’t or won’t call out anti-white racism or mindless vandalism. Beyond David Blaska (and possibly Ann Althouse), who in Madison possesses the courage to do so?

I posted the comment below over on that Mural Makes Good Trouble on Monroe St. blog post of Mayor Dave but I can never know if Dave is going to actually post my comments, sometimes he appears to have a black hole of moderation for censoring comments. Here’s the comment I posted at 10:10am today…
As of the time I posted this comment my comment over on Mayor Dave’s blog post was still stuck in the moderation black hole.

What are the “racist flyers” they’re referring to?

If we had actual journalists and reporters in Madison, maybe we could find the answer.

Monroe St.: where Madison liberals live comfortably with We Believe Marxist propaganda signs in the yards of their lovingly restored Craftsman homes built on stolen land.
I’ll believe their progressive cred when they turn over all their possessions, bank accounts, and assets including the title and keys of their homes to a nonwhite marginalized/oppressed person of colour and go live on the streets.

Or even if they just invited one or two of the “marginalized,” whom they claim to champion, to share their spacious, tastefully appointed digs. Not holding my breath.

Oh, can you imagine the reactions? Surely their enlightened progressive neighbors would love that.
Or how about a mini-tent city in the backyard with an open-pit toilet, outdoor shower, and a standing invite to “All Madison/Dane County Persons of Colour Experiencing Houselessness” to move on in?
There is no other choice! This MUST happen NOW to End Houselessness!

ONLY if it is designated as a “Cop Free Zone”, and the yard regularly raked for needles. (So no one gets an UNINTENDED jab)

Is it snowing in hell? Mayor Dave wrote a column, and my petty “inner Facebook/Twitter” didn’t flag him once.
The mural is a clever indictment of “the woke”, whether it is intended as such, or not. The woman is obviously a “woke” liberal, it is, after all, Madison. Mark Lemberger is correct that she is the latest iteration of “white supremacy”. She dispenses money, demonstrating her “virtue”, yet has no expectation that her actions will change the outcomes of “those people”.
Here is an “Easter egg”— Look at the saving delivery of “Justice” , (No Cops, Restorative Justice, College Attainment, etc.). The driver carries a huge stack of boxes, the child carries boxes almost as large as himself. Answer: The boxes are EMPTY.
If I had painted the mural I would have had George Floyd as “Black Jesus”, standing in the background with a tear in his eye. Or is that too much?

Sure would be a pity if someone took a can of spraypaint to this abomination and wrote something like “Hate Art” or “MAGA” across it in big red letters. Just sayin’….

Pretty sure someone will. It’s been over a week since the last race hoax (Willy St. co-op incident)

There is no way to keep track of the race hoaxes. In general, unless a person has unedited, substantial third-party verified audio and video of an incident, I almost always automatically am skeptical of alleged white racist incidents.
That this one would have occurred at Willy Street Coop and the perp is one of their staff is just preposterous. I’m surprised the allegation didn’t include that the “victim” (another Justhea Smollstein?) was sprayed in the face by a Coop employee wearing a MAGA hat and chanting “Trump won, Trump won”.
It’s also telling that the hoax includes fat shaming.

This is the kind of “art” Madison’s progressives love: large-scale cartoons that perfectly express their cartoonish vision of the world: bad guys (white males) vs. good guys (POCs). A variation of socialist realism, which also abandoned the traditional goals of art in service of the state and its officially sanctioned lies.

I grew up right there in the 50’s. I can tell ya, “growing up” was much different then. We didn’t have things we didn’t understand (or experienced) thrown in our faces wherever we looked. We had bicycles to put playing cards thru the spokes, we were grade-schoolers playing baseball, and exploring near & far neighborhoods for new pal. Tho YES, we did get some free stuff occasionally: jerseys from local businesses to advertise their names…
By the time the 60’s came to an end, Equality was well on the way of becoming reality. “Equity” was a CHOICE any American could make because it was earned.
I pity each and every kid in this country being denied the hope & innocence of youth.

I agree with Blaska’s interpretation. Given Madison and the neighborhood, it makes perfect sense. But it’s interesting that some others seem to invert it by imagining the guilty white woman as a “woke” white woman. I admit I found the mural incoherent at first myself. But I think Blaska has it nailed. The white woman may be a white liberal, but the true woke do not see themselves as liberals. They see themselves as transgressive and transformative, and for them a white liberal woman is as much (maybe more) the enemy as a Trumpite right-wing white woman would be.

The fact that she’s faceless and in a position of authority (as well as white) pretty much tells you–and the viewers– who the enemy is. One thing woke art isn’t is subtle.

I am still waiting for the next news outlet if they have the guts to report it. It being the next assault on another kid in the school system caused by the absence of resource officials, (cops) . I’ll be watching for it. Take bets of which local media will stand up to the thugs, or do all of their kids go to private? Hmmmmmm?
