‘You wanted this, liberals … you got it. Good and hard.’

Karen Vieth
About the fallout at troubled Sherman Middle School, the irony is that whistle blower Karen Vieth is a Madison teachers union rep. A liberal in good standing in the Peoples Republic. Member of the Madison Teachers Inc. team that picks which Democrats to endorse for elective office.
But she is reaping the bitter fruit of liberal policies. Criticize the teaching environment in a school for 12 to 14-year-olds where the “positive behavior support coach” is hospitalized breaking up student fights? Blame the principal for disappearing into her office even after three years of coaching? The school district hierarchy race-shames you.
The greater irony is that it was President Barack Obama’s administration that forced districts to set what amounts to racial quotas in school discipline. Thankfully, a Wisconsin-based conservative action group is moving to restore order in the classroom so that children of all colors can succeed.
‘You blame the principal; I blame your politics’
Ms. Vieth’s seismic cri du coeur, “Closing the Door on the Madison Metropolitan School District,” had attracted 96 comments as of 9:30 this morning (06-16-18), with few repeaters and only two dissenters. Most are deeply sympathetic but some are pointing fingers at Madison’s guilty-liberal culture. A commenter named “The Barber” posts:
As a Union teacher rep I imagine that you likely voted for the liberal policies you have now had the opportunity to experience. … Your silly notions about punishment and corrective action are part and parcel of why the school has turned into a free-for-all. You blame the principal for all of this insanity. I blame your politics and those of your colleagues. You wanted this, you got it. Good and hard.
Another named “Mike” piles on:
I have sympathy for the children but none for the teachers involved in this. You have voted and lobbied for a consequence-free environment for decades and now you have it. You have voted and lobbied for race to be the deciding factor in employment and now you have it.
‘The race card will be played’
Presumably signing his real name, Ed Olson demands:
People … need to ask themselves why this type of stupidity can possibly happen. Who can put someone like this in charge and continue to ignore incompetence? You can go up the ladder in administration and eventually land at [Superintendent Jennifer] Cheatham. Who hired and appointed Cheatham? Who continues to enable this?
The answer of course is the school board. The board is completely populated by “progressives” endorsed (ironically) by the teacher’s union. … If anyone runs for the school board with a message of accountability and discipline, they will immediately run into the same problem as Ms. Vieth. The race card will be played.
Ed, Mike, and The Barber are correct. The school district’s race-based Behavior Education Plan is the bitter fruit of the Obama administration’s “Dear Colleague” directive giving school administrators “guidance” on how to comply with federal law in maintaining school discipline.
Tell the Madison school board that discipline is Life’s Lesson #1.
Obama forced racial quotas in school discipline
National Review magazine elucidates:
Threatening lawsuits if the administrators didn’t comply with the “guidance,” the January 2014 letter coerced many school systems into adopting illegal racial quotas in their disciplinary decision-making.
The Obama letter utilized the “disparate impact” approach to civil-rights enforcement, whereby a policy that does not discriminate on its face, in its intent, or in its application is nonetheless deemed illegal if it has “disproportionate” statistical effects among different racial and ethnic groups.
… There is overwhelming evidence that Obama-era policies culminating in this “Dear Colleague” letter pushed schools to avoid disciplining students who needed to be disciplined. It made avoiding politically incorrect numbers more important than maintaining school safety.
MMSD is trying to make the numbers work by reducing school suspensions of students of color. Improving behavior and … you know, actually teaching, is secondary. Even so, the racial disparity continues virtually unchanged. African-Americans are 19% of enrollment but continue to be 62% of all suspensions. More here.
Who suffers? The kids
National Review continues:
The victims of this unfair and unlawful policy are most likely to be well-behaving, minority students — and their teachers — whose classrooms become disrupted and dangerous. And it doesn’t do misbehaving students any favors either, since a lack of early corrective action may only encourage even more disruptive and potentially dangerous behavior. This is what some refer to as the school-to-prison pipeline.
Fortuitously, the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL), this week urged the secretary of education to toss the Obama administration’s “Dear Colleague” letter into the circular file. We close with one more comment from Karen Vieth’s blog:
Todd Kasper says: “All in favor of voting for Karen for school board say yes.”
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Notice something, Dave Zweifel? Act 10 is not the issue here. Meanwhile, the school board’s Cops Out of Our Schools committee meets next Wednesday, June 20, at 4 p.m. in the MMSD admin bldg at 545 W. Dayton Street. Priorities, people!
The incredible pretzel twist of flawed non logic, mixed with racism, ignorance and desperation to tap into the right wing echo chamber money is incredible to watch….

The talented Dr. Grossman, her life’s work consumed with making this a better world for at least half of us (as an EVIL male, I’m part of the “other half”), received an epiphany that would be politely described as “poetic justice.”
Her own little bundle of joy was ensnared by the world she helped to create.
“But that was before my son, a senior at a small liberal-arts college in New England, was charged—by an ex-girlfriend—with alleged acts of ‘nonconsensual sex’ that supposedly occurred during the course of their relationship A FEW YEARS EARLIER. (bolds mine).
“What followed was a nightmare—a fall through Alice’s looking-glass into a world that I could not possibly have believed existed, least of all behind the ivy-covered walls thought to protect an ostensible dedication to enlightenment and intellectual betterment.”
She was positively aghast that Sonny would NOT be afforded the presumption of innocence.

Wrong. Born and raised on Madison’s Eastside. Or daughter went to the same Highschool both her parents did. She graduated in 2007. Well known fact even back then unless your grades qualified you to take the TAG classes your days in school were pretty much wasted. The teachers spent a good share of class time reprimanding the same students who day after day disrupted the class and disrespected the teacher. Lucky for us our daughter qualified for those classes. From friends whose grandchildren attend those very same schools it has gotten much worse. We as parents brought this up to the school board back then and as far as I know it has been an issue every year since then. Perhaps try asking some students who attend our Madison Middle or High Schools what they think. Then ask yourself why nothing has been done to make it better for those students who want to learn. This issue has nothing to do with Dave chumming the waters. Those waters were chummed by us parents going back to the mid 80’s. They ignored us back then and it continues this day. What a shame.

Good lord Jeff Simpson. My whole point was to point out you were a member of a school board. To verify this I mentioned you were interviewed by the Cap Times. Interview or an op-ed what difference does it make? Again the whole point was the piece mentioned you were a member of a school board. Which I felt was important since the discussion was about the actions or lack of by a school board. Your response has the same tone as does our favorite history teacher/Madison Alder Matt Phair when someone disagrees with him or questions him. Turning it back on me…”which is about all you got right”. Not sure what the purpose of that snarcky comment was. But like Matt I’m sure it makes you feel like you got one up on me. Not even close. Absolutely! But it all started with that uppity Vieth. She (does being being a teacher trump being an EVIL White X-Chromosomal Unit?) invoked raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaacism with nary a mere mention that the Sherman Middle School principal was Black.
THAT was a career Lefty after-market add-on. But you’s will never hear from them; they’re otherwise occupied, pearls perilously clutched as they swoon, with predictably smothering horror, onto their fainting couches.
It’s what the talented John Leo called Stealth Racism, a raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaacism so steadfastly insidious that (and this is where it gets good) It_Doesn’t_Even_Exist.

A particularly insightful post. I had no idea Obama’s fingerprints were on this mess, though it makes perfect sense. Who better to tell you how to run your schools than the federal government? And of course Madison liberals were (and I stress the past tense) never happier than when they were obeying to the letter any dictate that came down from the lofty heights of the Obama regime. Yet another example of the simplistic moral calculus that animates liberals. Too many students of color being punished for bad behavior? Impose quotas. Demand that teachers give free passes to minorities. Cook the numbers so they agree with the outcome you desire. Problem solved. I was especially taken with that image of the Sherman School principal literally closing the door (of her office) to shut out the chaos in the hallways of the institution she ostensibly leads. The perfect metaphor for Madison schools in particular and the city in general. Problems? What problems? We can’t have problems here–the liberals are in charge.

I’m guessing you’re thinking I’m referring those that don’t want to learn are students of color. The student disruptors come in all ages, shapes and colors. Perhaps you should pay a visit to LaFollette High School and take a stroll down those hallways while class is supposed to be in session and get back to us and let us know what you think. The only ignorance comes from you for turning a blind eye to what’s really going on in our schools. Please stop pulling up that race card to those that disagree with you. Something struck me last night about Jeff Simpson’s blog, the title.
He titled his blog space “Cognitive Dissonance”, I asked my self why did Jeff title his blog that way.
“Cognitive Dissonance, the mental conflict that occurs when beliefs or assumptions are contradicted by new information. The unease or tension that the conflict arouses in people is relieved by one of several defensive maneuvers: they reject, explain away, or avoid the new information; persuade themselves that no conflict really exists; reconcile the differences; or resort to any other defensive means of preserving stability or order in their conceptions of the world and of themselves.”
SOURCE: https://www.britannica.com/science/cognitive-dissonance
After reading that definition of Cognitive Dissonance I can fully understand why the author chose that particular title; his writing clearly shows us that he’s often confronted with such conflicts due to his terribly biased opinions, his constant baseless accusations, his complete lack of logic, and his obvious disconnect with reality.
The subtitle of his blog “a blog of the people, for the people, by the people” is laughable nonsense. It’s really obvious that his blog is there for one purpose and one purpose only, it’s to fully employ the Progressive Rhetorical ABC’s against Conservatives and to feed his own narcissistic tendencies.
I think I could safely bet the family farm that Jeff Simpson publicly and privately smears President Trump for his unprofessional and sometimes hateful rhetoric but rationalizes his own completely unprofessional and constant hateful rhetoric. So much ignorance and hypocrisy coming from the political left, so little time.

What’s really sad is that it’s so damned easy to tell when a “Progressive” hack doesn’t have anything intelligent to say outside of their Progressive Rhetorical ABC’s because as soon as they open their ignorant mouths nothing but spewings of chunky bunk with occasional unsubstantiated drooling of lies are presented as arguments; it’s actually all regressive totalitarian bull shit not progressive ideological thinking. Progressives can’t sell their own idiotic ideology to anyone who isn’t a blithering idiot (that’s why public schools and college campus are dumbing down their students) so the only thing left in their playbook is to try and demonize any thinking behind opinions that oppose them. It’s anti-Constitutional and morally bankrupt.

as the possibility of racism in our schools — Our schools and all of society are full of institutional racism. Yet no one wants to get down and dirty and fix that, we just want to make sure the kids who we arent reaching and cause some disruption in the classroom pay with a pound of flesh.”
First, show us where Blaska writes about a lack of corporal punishment.
Second, you state that no one wants to get down and dirty to fix societal institutional racism.
