After 69 years, aren’t we due?
Don’t know how much more of this we can take. (Who is this “We” you keep referencing, Blaska?) (“We” is the indentured servants at the Stately Manor.) Trying to will Milwaukee’s baseball team to victory for our first World Series victory since 1957 so why are our carnival barkers of despair (as son Max writes) ambushing us?
The Greek gods tantalized fans with young Cooper Pratt’s solo home run to put our Milwaukee Brewers up 3 to 2 in the top of the 12th inning. To protect the fragile lead in the bottom of the inning, the indentured servants chanted “Misiorowski.” Go for the kill shot! Instead, we got a bottom feeder who couldn’t get an out in a jail break. Why save your ace for another game when you need only one clean inning to win it all? (Coach Murphy responds by sighing.)
Somewhere in the archives is our Uecker’s Pukers T-shirt. (Should have been spelled “Pueckers.”) Won the puke-green/yellow vestment after chugging a bucket of beer at old County Stadium, as challenged by a bunch of rowdies nearby. Could buy beer in a cardboard container the size of a jumbo movie theater popcorn bucket in those days. Caught a foul ball in one such bucket; the remaining beer cushioned the impact. Nearby patrons enjoyed the splash.
Tagline on the T-shirt: “We’re not leavin’ till we’re heavin’.”

Break the mold!
Who are these anonymous educrats the University of Wisconsin is entertaining for its next systemwide president? Why not someone with some Wisconsin heft like Paul Ryan, the former Speaker of the House? Or Mike Gallagher? Two of the greater university presidents of recent memory were former U.S. Sen. Ben Sasse at the University of Florida and former Indiana governor Mitch Daniels at Purdue. Tommy Thompson is right; halt the selection process until Wisconsin elects a governor.
Do not tell me the university is not political. The next president should restore Chamberlin Rock and Fredric March and fire Shiva Bidar Sielaff. In the Dan Quayle Reading Room: The Breakdown of Higher Education, by professor John M. Ellis.
“Having watched the deterioration of academia up close for the past fifty years, Ellis locates the core of the problem in a change in the composition of the faculty during this time, from mildly left-leaning to almost exclusively leftist.”
Madison school board is jacking up its annual budget by a healthy 7 percent. Expect to pay an additional $335 on your property taxes. Teachers are getting a 4.63% pay hike. Some contrast: Social Security COLA increase is 3.6%. WI Retirement System annuity increased 2.1%. Why do Democrats want the state to pick up K-12 costs? To better disguise the profligacy of our K-12 school system. Spending is the problem, not funding.
Donald Trump is absolutely correct. Eliminate all questions about race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation from the next Census. Only way to achieve a truly color-blind nation.
Is the Ray’s ballpark the most depressing place to play the game since the deflated Hubert Humphrey dome in Minneapolis? No wonder the Rays ranked 28th of 30 teams in major league attendance — despite the best record in the American League. World Series tickets at Tropicana Field were $500 compared to $2,500 in Milwaukee, which is why as many as 15,000 Brewer fans could expense air fare and hotel to back their team on the road. Another 31,000 fans watched the big screen at American Family Field.
Listen to a Republican?
Who should be the next independent police monitor? We would say None of the Above. Freedom Inc. advertises it is holding a listening session, 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday 10-29-26. At their place, 2110 Luann Lane, Madison. As if Freedom Inc. ever listens to anything they don’t want to hear. These taxpayer-subsidized social justice warriors F-bomb your family home and shout you down at public meetings. But, under city ordinance, they are entitled to nominate members to the monitor’s oversight board, the PCOB.

Good afternoon Mr. Blaska,
This is to let you know that your PCOB application has been received. I also wanted to clarify that the Republican Party of Dane County is not one of the nominating organizations for the PCOB. As such, your application has been added to the general pool from which both the Mayor and the Common Council may nominate either their full member or their alternate.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best,
Chioma Njoku, City of Madison| Office of the Independent Monitor
