It’s the cover of The Capital Times, Madison WI’s progressive proponent of grievance politics, open borders, Defund the Police, and big gummint socialism: “Corey Ruiz: A City in Mourning.”
FAKE NEWS! Madison is not in mourning for Corey Ruiz! Madison mourned for JFK after Dallas. Madison mourned for the astronauts who went down with the Challenger space shuttle. Madison mourned for the victims of the school shooting at Abundant Life school.
But very few Madisonians are actually mourning the predictable demise of Corey Ruiz, career criminal. Certainly not bullhorn-chasing attorney Ben Crump, smacking his lips over the hefty settlement the city’s insurer will pay rather than take its chances with a Madison jury, just as it bought another “martyr’s” mother an exotic Italian sports car.
No, the Woke denizens of Willy Street called police to protect them from Corey Ruiz and the others attracted to the street by the lure of more free stuff at Brenda Konkel’s Community Justice Center. Better that police feel Corey’s sharp blade than “The Community” confront his thievery themselves. Let police do the dirty work and blame them when they defend themselves against mortal harm.
Blaska has this cockamamie plan to rent an electronic billboard in town that would flash these words:”Madison Supports Our Police.” But he needs $4,300 to put it up for a week. As the black Jesus once told downtown restaurateurs, Venmo me the money!
The bullhorn of bull✱✱✱✱
Attention, cop haters! The police did not sign up for permanent disability; that’s the occupational hazard of the line of work chosen by Corey Ruiz. Police don’t do fair fights; they intend to go home to their families when shift ends. (Guys! Don’t fight people wearing guns!)
The vanguard of Madison progressives are not mourning. The news is reporting the carnival-like atmosphere at their no-fly autonomous zone. When they’re not blocking traffic, harassing bystanders, and shutting down music concerts. It’s so glorious, the Revolution, until its nihilism claims its own victims, like those in Seattle and Portland. The agitators are using Corey’s death, which resulted from resisting lawful arrest, to further their agenda, which, not so coincidentally, is that of The Capital Times. These are Francesca Hong’s people. And those of Brandi Grayson, Freedom Inc., Mark Pocan, Paul Fanlund, John Nichols, and (increasingly) the Democrat(ic) party.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: The barricaded occupied zone at the intersection of Baldwin and Williamson Streets is NOT what democracy looks like. It is what today’s Democratic Party of Wisconsin looks like. Their five candidates for governor “debated” Tuesday night 07-28-26. Not a one of them criticized the socialist among them, Francesca Hong, for calling Ruiz’s death “an execution” when they had every opportunity to do so. Their silence is complicity.
