Our progressive … acquaintances respond by ululating the specter of jack boots on cobblestones, broken glass, and Deutschland Krankenwagen Sirenes.

John Nichols’ Nation magazine dog whistles (verb transitive) the Reichstag fire, spells clan with a “K,” then falls back on the Epstein theory — Trump is just trying to change the subject! In a city where two young Jewish embassy workers were shot dead.
She’s not quite Walter Cronkite, but when you’ve lost Maureen Dowd, liberals, you’ve lost the argument. In today’s New York Times, the born-and-raised resident of Washington D.C. — no MAGA-ite, she — writes, “Many D.C. residents are secretly glad to see more uniforms. No matter what statistics say, they don’t feel safe.” While Ms. Dowd was scribbling this, she reports, her sister Peggy was filing reports at the police station.
We had dinner in Georgetown recently and when we came back to my house, where her car was parked, she was short a Buick.

But … but … but crime is down in D.C., CNN sputters. Yet the capital of this great nation still ranks 4th in homicides/population (behind Memphis, St. Louis, and Baltimore. Milwaukee is 15th). D.C. kills at six times the rate suffered in New York City. Democrats were mayors of 19 of the 20 cities over 100,000 with the worst homicide rates, according to Axios.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: That’s the real rub, isn’t it my progressive … acquaintances! Trump is shaming every Democrat(ic) mayor of every crime-ridden big city — Karen Bass in L.A., Brandon Johnson in Chicago, and (especially) Muriel Bowser in Washington D.C., who once created a “Black Lives Matter” plaza near the White House. As for Milwaukee, Mayor Cavalier Johnson has allowed contract negotiations with its police drag into year three.
Like Maureen Dowd says, “Even if Trump is being diabolical, Democrats should not pretend everything is fine here. Because it’s not.”

Democrat mayors worst nightmare is that President Trump might actually reduce crime and eliminate homelessness.
What if there are actual solutions to no cash bail, Soros elected prosecutors, abandoned folks with mental illnesses, bloated NGO’s and drug addled cartel consumers and woefully understaffed, demoralized cops.

Gotta ask: why are Democrat-run cities soft on crime? I harken back to the Covid lockdowns: control. If citizens are terrified to be out and about running their independent lives, they’re dependent upon the State and more easily controlled. Democrats are the biggest threats to our democracy!
