Blaska strikes again!

Donald Segretti would be proud!

Blaska is such a scamp! We left behind a Brad Schimel campaign flyer at a coffee shop on Madison’s near-westside this morning. HA! What a merry prankster are we! We revel in imagining the existential horror registered by the proper Madison progressive who happened upon this piece of contraband. The righteous fury as she (as we imagine this Karen) shredded the subversive document with her bare, cat-lady fingers — to the ululating approbation of her caffeinated, morning yoga sisters.

The stricken coffee shop in question is situated in a neighborhood chockablock with Susan Crawford for Supreme Court yard signs. Also one opposing the F-35 fighter jet recently deployed in the defense of freedom at Truax Field. Sign shows a cowering child being comforted by another Karen. (Hunker down under your classroom desk, kids! We’re taking Greenland!)

Our small act of subterfuge, we believe, is protected political speech. First Amendment littering. Blaska’s stately manor fields what might be the only Schimel yard sign in town. We shall report these developments to a friend who calls every night in despair that Schimel is going down to defeat after watching another misleading Crawford TV spot claiming her opponent hid the rape kits. Our friend correctly observes that Crawford’s election would maintain the 4 to 3 progressive majority, spelling the end of Act 10, gerrymandering the state for Democrats, and making abortion available via mail order.

Blaska sleeps better knowing he did his part to stave off nuclear winter. Despite repeated beatdowns, we remain cock-eyed optimists. The New York Times reports that Elon Musk fielded 500 canvassers throughout Wisconsin — 70 in the Madison area alone. One of them rapped on our barricaded door to ask how the Head Groundskeeper is voting in the nation’s most-watched off-year election.

That would explain why the Schimel campaign cards are addressed to Blaska and not “Occupant.” They’re identifying their voters and reminding them to do the deed. Now THAT is a ground game.

 Taking one for the team

Speaking of games, what a white knuckle job was the Badgers basketball game against BYU Saturday 03-22-25! According to that New York Times amazing interactive graphic, Wisconsin had a 58% chance of beating BYU and a 1% chance of winning it all but that was before they lost Saturday night’s slugfest, 91 to 89. We do mean slugfest. Max Klesmit took one in the family jewels to gain Wisconsin two free throws and a possession off a technical foul to help Wisconsin close what had been a 14-point gap. But it was not to be.

Has any player put a whole team on his shoulders like John Tonje did against the Mormons? Not one of his 37 points came easy; he earned every free throw.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Like the Badgers, we play to win. But we’re good losers, too. Maybe because we’ve had so much practice.

It always puzzles me why Madison liberals put out yard signs for Democrats. Do they really think there’s a chance that a non-Democrat will stroll by, see it, and instantly join the lemming herd? My favorite sign of the times (they seem mostly to have disappeared along with the BLM BS) was the one beginning “In this house we believe …. [fill in the blanks with the pious platitudes that constitute the secularist version of the Apostle’s Creed: Love is love; No human is illegal; Science is real; blah, blah, blah]. One I’ve noticed lately in my neighborhood scolds people who put salt on their sidewalks in winter; nothing is too trivial to call down their righteous wrath. A win for Schimel would be the cherry on the sundae–the sundae being the last election. How would Madison’s progressive elites survive such a blow while still dealing with severe PTSD from November?

I’m sure “progressive elites” will do more than survive. They’re fighting back. Town halls are showing voter remorse, probably by Repubs and Dems…all stripes…regarding changes with Social Security, Medicaid, possible privatization of the USPS, Musk’s unfettered access to the White House. The pendulum has started to swing the other way.

The mid-term elections will be interesting.

If disrupting town halls held by Republicans is the most lethal weapon in their arsenal, Democrats are worse off than I thought.

Dems are not disrupting town halls. They are making their voices heard. I notice that several Republican members of Congress are too chicken-shit to show up for these gatherings. My sense is that in future they will be virtual, or will not be scheduled.

“Dems are not disrupting town halls. They are making their voices heard.”

‘Making their voices heard’ is leftist speak for shouting down and suppressing speech they don’t like, as was seen by a Palestine sympathizer in a town hall in Illinois, others who disrupted a congresswoman in Wyoming, and another who was taken away by police in North Carolina.

“My sense is that in future they will be virtual, or will not be scheduled.”

Your prediction on the last part is already true, as Chuck Schumer is now cancelling public appearances because he’s scared of his own base. And the media portrays conservatives as the violent unhinged ones—what a crock.

Don’t overestimate your influence. Why would anyone with a life be shocked by a silly political flyer?

“Karens”? “Cat ladies”? Those epithets are past their shelf lives.

I plan to vote for Crawford. That is one thing I’ll be doing for democracy.

They’ll bring in the HAZMAT team to fumigate the entire coffee shop. Think Bill Murray in the deep end of the pool in Caddyshack.

Crawford ads drive me to be more convinced we need a Brad Schimmel victory.

Badger game was tough– mostly cuz we watched it live and had to suffer through all the Crawford ads. You got to wonder the return on the investment of playing hose ads in the Dane County area.
Never fear we have pundits like AOC, Bernie, Rollie and Anonymous assuring us that the Democratic party is dying.

Hey Dave, I have a Schimel sign in my yard! (Maybe the only one in Meadowood, but still…) I am encouraged that there seems to be less Crawford signs out than Biden/Harris signs in November.
I have been getting mailings from the ACLU, of all people, encouraging me to vote. In these mailers, they are not supporting a candidate, but I did see an online ad today from them which, of course, said we should vote for Crawford. Once upon a time, I sent money to the ACLU, but then I grew up. Just like the League of Women Voters, the ACLU went far left.
I’ve only seen two Jill Underwhelmingly signs, which also is encouraging.

Party of One: Gee. Nice reporting about the yard signs in your neighborhood. Got any other observations to reveal about life beyond your bubble?

Don’t knock ACLU. You may need them someday.

The ACLU once was doing the work that Judicial Watch and WILL are doing now. The ACLU would be of no help to me now.

I remember when the ACLU actually supported the 1st and 2nd Amendment. Both cases I think were in IL. How things have changed.
