‘This is a political case’

it has nothing to do with the law.’

So said Jim Troupis to the news media, backed by 50 or so supporters this Thursday morning at the Dane County Courthouse. Four years after the fact, Wisconsin’s Democrat(ic) attorney general is charging Troupis and two others with felony forgery for submitting an alternate slate of electors in order to preserve Donald Trump’s options while court cases were still pending after the 2020 presidential election.

This morning’s brief court appearance was an initial hearing to establish legal representation into the record and to set a date for a preliminary hearing, the afternoon of January 28.

As this blogge detailed in the last thrilling episode, Troupis repeated today that AG Josh Kaul approved the meeting of the alternate electors and so notified the Wisconsin Election Commission. For 40 years, James Troupis has been a respected Dane County jurist with a national reputation as an expert on election law. He capped off his career with a judgeship in Dane County Circuit Court. This morning, he touched on the personal pain this vendetta has caused his family.

My family and I have endured nonstop vicious and unrelenting attacks on my reputation [and] on my livelihood. My children have been interrogated. My long-held friendships and professional life have been destroyed. Not a day goes by that my wife doesn’t worry that our home will be invaded, that our doors would be smashed down, and that government agents would come through those doors. … Lawfare in all its despicable forms will not end in Wisconsin. The attorney general today has doubled down on a vicious strategy to destroy our faith in the system of justice — to use the courts for his own personal, political gain. … This is a political case; it has nothing to do with the law. … I pray every day that others will not suffer the enormous pain that my family and I have suffered. — retired judge Jim Troupis

‘To call them fake electors is wrong’

Former WI governor Scott McCallum called the case against Troupis “A clear abuse of power. … We need to respect the law, in this case, very clearly, the law was followed. Every that had to be taken under the law was taken to represent his client. The law in Wisconsin requires an alternate slate if you are going to challenge an election in court. To call them ‘fake electors’ is wrong.”

We quoted constitutional law expert Lawrence Lessig back in January: “Given the rules of the Constitution, the decision of the Wisconsin Republican electors to meet and vote was, therefore, completely reasonable.”

Blaska’s Bottom Line: There was a time when even the progressive Left agreed that Trump had the right to take his case through the courts. A court victory would have been meaningless if his electors had missed the deadline (12-14-2020) to cast their ballots. But a lawless January 6 insurrection (for which this blogge blames Trump) radicalized Democrats who, in their hysteria, threw a dragnet around anyone connected with their political enemy. If Jim Troupis did anything illegal, it was not in convening the alternate slate of electors.

Can Jim Troupis get justice in Madison WI?

I am afraid he can’t, the elderly governor of Wisconsin stands behind Josh Kaul on this. It seems all we can do is donate to the challenger to Kaul in the next AG election and hope they make this abuse of power and improper persecution major issues and inform all the voters of Wisconsin. Same goes for the next election for governor. This should be an issue, Judge Troupis home may be invoded as was the Mayor of Wausau invaded by Kaul’s persecution.

We can do better. We can elect Brad Schimel for Supreme Court next April.

That would be the wise and prudent course of action. But while Republicans are playing catchup to the current illegalities foisted by the Left, Democrats are already preparing their newest form of illegal warfare. Combine that with the apathy of the voters in Dane, Milwaukee and Brown counties to understand they are no more than 2 consecutive elections of Liberals away from losing their rights and freedoms as well. Everything the Left does is for power and power alone.

In 2024, Josh Kaul received $124,725 from “organization unavailable” to Open Secrets. Might not sound like much but, it’s more than anybody else this year. His reelection is not until 2026, so somebody is “investing” in him early. I wonder what they’re getting for their money?

It’s become very clear that the power hungry political left is wielding double standards, hypocrisy, and lawfare in their continued efforts to openly persecute Donald Trump or anyone that has supported or voted for Trump. At some point in time, this is going to turn around an bite these people in a very bad way.

    In my opinion…

Based on all the court documents I’ve read, (I just finished reading them all) Josh Kaul is openly bastardizing the law, in a similar manner as Alvin Bragg did in New York, intentionally misrepresenting the law and openly lying to the public. This is clearly not a case of enforcing the law, it’s a case that’s intentionally and falsely fabricated to persecute Troupis for having the audacity to represent a presidential candidate, Donald Trump, in his legal and constitutionally protected right to challenge an election. This is anti-law, anti-American, anti-Constitution, pure totalitarian minded “show me the man and I’ll find you the crime” open lawfare and we the people need to stand firmly against this absolute abuse of power!

I would 100% support and actively take part in any campaign to recall Josh Kaul for this clear and absolute abuse of power.

Someone in the legal profession should file a bar association complaint against Josh Kaul for this anti-law, anti-Constitution, lawfare abuse of power. I think that this is such an obvious abuse of power that he should loose his license to practice law.

    That’s my opinion.

Let the anti Witherspoon trolling mud slinging begin.
