Again, Big Gummint picks winners and losers!
The platform of the Democrat(ic) Party can be summarized in three words: More Free Stuff. While we were distracted by the partial eclipse of the sun Monday, the President of the United States dropped out of the sky to reinforce that single truth here in Madison WI. The irony is that the President chose Madison (Technical) College, not the University of Wisconsin campus, to unveil his latest scheme to cancel $146 Billion in student loans.
His tech school audience is learning a blue collar trade — work skills in high demand. They are paying off their loans. No, Uncle Joe’s latest giveaway scheme — to hell with the U.S. Supreme Court — is a big middle finger to the people you see driving at 7 in the morning to the job site with lettering on the sides of their vans and trucks. They are the ones stuck with paying the bills of our delinquent Grievance Studies graduates!
Breeding class resentment
Democrats’ justify their redistribution of other people’s money because VICTIMS! More Free Stuff has been the raison d’être for the party since FDR. But the New Deal strove to keep widows from having to sell pencils on street corners. (It also paid farmers to slaughter hogs.) Back then — and until Donald Trump — Democrats were the party of Joe and Jane Lunch Pail.
Ninety years later, the gyring circle of victimhood has widened to encompass critical race theorists throwing corn hole bags on Library Mall.

Federal subsidies distort the market place
No incentive for the higher education industrial complex to achieve economies of scale, no reason to respond to supply and demand. Why make that tenured professor, you know, actually teach? So sad for Richland Center and the other four towns that are losing their UW System two-year campuses. Sears is shutting down, too, thanks to Amazon. It’s called (whisper it with us) “the free market.”
Remember Government Cheese? Jimmy Carter guaranteed milk prices, which encouraged dairy farmers to over-produce. The floor under prices became a ceiling and thousands of dairy farmers went under.
Blaska’s Bottom Line Econ 101 lesson plan: Student debt has not been forgiven — just transferred! Once again we say: progressives created Donald Trump! Snap quiz: Why did Joe Biden avoid the University of Wisconsin campus — the ones most likely to benefit from debt forgiveness? Answer: Because the noisiest students would disrupt his speech to demand Hamas be left off the hook in Gaza.
That’s the ultimate irony: Bad enough Biden’s giveaway won’t pay off economically or educationally — it won’t pay off even politically.

It’s a redistribution of wealth from the working class to the elite. Ruy Teixeira, on the broader context, https://www.spiked-online.com/2024/04/08/democrats-see-ordinary-americans-as-the-great-unwashed/: “These days, you could reasonably argue that the Democrats are actually anti-working-class. Of course, the party will always argue that it still pursues policies in the economic interests of the working classes. But in a lot of ways, Democrats really don’t like working people. They treat ordinary Americans as the great unwashed. In books like White Rural Rage, which are popular in Democratic circles, rural Americans are painted as xenophobic, authoritarian troglodytes opposed to everything that decent people stand for. The Democrats are meant to be the party of the working classes, and yet its members outright resent them.”
That Biden is buying votes on the backs of the working class isn’t exactly a subtle ploy. Everyone’s favorite Yellow Dog Democrat, Mayor Dave, gets it, https://yellowstripsdeadarmadillos.org/2024/04/09/biden-shows-up-to-push-me-away/:

“Pres. Joe Biden campaigned in Madison yesterday. He showed up in my town to give me reason to want to vote against him. …
And therefore, Mayor Dave is going to strike a blow for working stiffs and vote against the Panderer-in-Chief, right? Nah. Once a Yellow Dog Dem, always a Yellow Dog Dem. …”In fact, I feel so strongly about this that this one issue could force a personal realignment. If the Republicans had someone more palatable on offer, say Nikki Haley, I might well vote for her because of her opposition to student debt forgiveness alone, never mind all of the other things that I disagree with her about. This runs that deep with me.
This loan forgiveness thing really angers me. Despite the Supreme Court’s ruling nonetheless. And people acuse Trump of being a criminal!
Just buy Thomas a new RV and you get whatever you want.
I love it when Uncle Joe or whoever is running the White House gives the middle finger to Th U.S. Supreme Court and all the Americans that paid off their student loans or didn’t take student loans. And they call Trump a dictator. Lets Go Brandon!
