Eeek! A Republican at MSNBC?

Trigger warning! Turmoil is being caused!

Honest to God and pray for rain, The Capital Times once printed an editorial cartoon drawn by that bolshevik Mike Konopacki lampooning one of its own newspaper reporters: BLASKA!

By that point in his so-called career, Blaska had abjured objectivity. He had seen too many of his colleagues literally cackling with delight as their keyboards skewered conservatives. A typical news story ended, way inside on the jump page, with Republicans denied the charges.” So the mischievous reporter decided to tilt his reportage ever so slightly towards Republicans, whom he was beginning to find a more convivial sort, anyway. Soon found himself covering barn fires.

Even in August 1988, The Capital Times played the race card

Now it transpires that corporate NBC has hired Ronna McDaniel, late the chairman of the Republican National Committee, as a political commentator. The natives are restless! The self-righteous Chuck Todd actually dissed the hire on live TV Sunday.

Not to worry, because MSNBC’s president said they weren’t going to blot Rachel Maddow’s screen with the image of Ms. McDaniel, whose middle name is Romney and who Trump defenestrated last week. In other words, she’s junior grade, double-secret probation MAGA lite. That contradicts another NBC suit who promised that McDaniel would contribute “across all NBC News platforms.” A pronouncement that caused “turmoil among several of the network’s on-air hosts and staffers, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Some Kaopectate, stat!

Recall the infamous New York Times staff revolt over the 06-03-20 publication of an op ed written by U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton. The Harvard Law graduate and former U.S. Army Ranger made the case for use of the Insurrection Act (“Send In the Troops”) while The Left was burning American cities. (Progressives were all Send In the Troops after January 6, 2021.) Times staffers “didn’t feel safe.” Off with the head of editorial page editor James Bennet! the Times decided. (At least he didn’t lose in the first round of the NCAA basketball tournament!)

Which led to the resignation of Times opinion writer Bari Weiss. Her letter of resignation should be required reading at whatever schools of journalism remain.

I was hired with the goal of bringing in voices that would not otherwise appear in your pages: first-time writers, centrists, conservatives and others who would not naturally think of The Times as their home. The reason for this effort was clear: The paper’s failure to anticipate the outcome of the 2016 election meant that it didn’t have a firm grasp of the country it covers. …

A new consensus has emerged in the press, but perhaps especially at this paper: that truth isn’t a process of collective discovery, but an orthodoxy already known to an enlightened few whose job is to inform everyone else. … Stories are chosen and told in a way to satisfy the narrowest of audiences, rather than to allow a curious public to read about the world and then draw their own conclusions. …

My own forays into Wrongthink have made me the subject of constant bullying by colleagues who disagree with my views. They have called me a Nazi and a racist; I have learned to brush off comments about how I’m “writing about the Jews again.” … other New York Times employees publicly smear me as a liar and a bigot on Twitter with no fear that harassing me will be met with appropriate action. They never are.

Bari Weiss, letter of resignation.

Our favorite Madison WI daily this morning reports that a kitty cat died in a minor house fire in town but refuses to report the arrest — for dealing fentanyl and cocaine — of the mother of supposed civil right martyr (and champion drug abuser) Tony Robinson Jr. Tony T’s mom, celebrated in many a protest rally, was a public figure in her own right.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: No wonder MAGA Nation believes Donald Trump instead of Fake News.

Should Fox News hire John Nichols?

That cartoon doesn’t do you justice. You’re much cuter than that, white boy. Gahd….can they get any stupider or brazen or obfuscating (The Tony Mom)! I sit here in sunny Florida, suffering for you all up there who continue hear that guy’s name. My heart goes out to the poor officer whose career was probably ruined over it. It’s enough to make you vomit! And the State continues to steal from productive American citizens. Let us pray!

MSLSD (sic)? From the bedrock Conservative HuffBLOW

MSNBC Almost Entirely Dominated By Opinion: Pew Study

    News Content: FoxNews 45 % MSLSD 15 %
    Opinion Content: FoxNews 55 % MSLSD 85 %.

    Et tu, HuffBLOW?

Soooo, MSLSD has 55 % more Opinion content and a mere 1/3 the News content of FoxNews?

Why yes…yes…MSLSD DOES have 55 % more Opinion content and a mere 1/3 the News content of FoxNews!

    It gets worse.

Stunned By Trump, The NYT (heh!) Finds Time For Soul Searching

    (bolds/caps/italics mind throughout)

MONEY QUOTE: (Michael Cieply/former NYT editor) “It was a shock […] By and large, talented reporters scrambled to match stories with what internally was often called ‘the narrative.’ WE WERE OCCASIONALLY ASKED TO MAP A NARRATIVE FOR OUR VARIOUS BEATS A_YEAR_IN_ADVANCE, SQUARE THE PLAN WITH EDITORS, THEN GENERATE STORIES THAT FIT THAT PRE-DESIGNATED LINE.”

MONEY QUOTE 2.0: ”The bigger shock came on being told, at least twice, by Times editors who were describing the paper’s daily Page One meeting: ‘WE SET THE AGENDA FOR THE COUNTRY IN THAT ROOM

Having lived at one time or another (in small-towns), I could only think, well, ‘Wow.’ This is a very large country. I couldn’t even find a copy of the Times on a stop in college town Durham, N.C. TO BELIEVE THE NATIONAL AGENDA WAS BEING SET IN A CONFERENCE ROOM IN A HEADQUARTERS ON MANHATTAN’S TIMES SQUARE REQUIRED A VERY SPECIAL MINDSET INDEED.

Me thinks the Wisconsin State Journal needs to change it’s name to The Progressive Times. Call it “truth in publishing” That fits the content better. Their censorship is out of control.

      “Progda”, that might work.

While Bari Weiss is not without her own biases—some of which she admits to—she is a shining beacon in our current partisan lynch mob media hellscape. I still revisit her resignation letter from time to time when I feel that we’re beyond hope.
