Sunday’s fish wrap kvetches (inexplicably two years into a six-year term) that Ron Johnson was re-elected senator despite their fusillade of blue ink. Blaska loves him if for that alone! Last time around, our favorite Madison morning daily endorsed for school board a critical race theorist who said “Our schools are the products of white supremacy.” Refused to report that martyred Tony Robinson Jr.’s grieving mother was arrested for dealing deadly fentanyl. Silent on restoring Fredric March’s good name.
It’s not man bites dog that the nation’s news media is more progressive than drag queen story hour. The self-selected arbiters of what we should know were laser-focused on climate change, the occasional rogue cop, and phantom voter supresssion. So the the Werkes has to ask:
Did the news media’s relentless progressive bias (What the MAGA-ites call “fake news”) push America to Trump?
Even the New York Times — unabashed source of Republican bashing — reports that Trump beats Biden 48 to 43% in its own nationwide survey. (Our Nikki would win 45 to 35%, if anyone is still listening.) Worse for Democrats, 61% of Joe Biden’s own 2020 voters think today he’s too damned old for the job, compared to 15% who think Trump too old. Quick, Jamaal Bowman, pull the fire alarm! More evidence that Democrats will host a surprise retirement party and invite Uncle Joe as the guest of honor. (Kamala will jump out of a cake.)

Problem for Democrats is that throwing billions of dollars at new bridges isn’t moving the needle. The deficit is a bigger concern. Global climate change (nice weather we’re having here in Wisconsin this early March) is a big yawn. Sadly, the insurrection of January 6 bothers Democrats and a few dyspeptic RINOs. (Blaska clears throat.)
What is topmost in mind of likely voters? The chaos at the border! For 3½ years, only Fox News reported it. Only when the governor of Texas bused immigrants north to safe sanctuary cities did the Left pay attention. Now Uncle Joe is scurrying to the border himself, issuing executive orders, demanding legislation, and blaming Republicans!
Those executive actions could have been signed into law on Day One. He could have called for the legislation he now blames Republicans for not enacting. Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer ran Congress then. But Joe chose to listen to AOC and Mark Pocan. He began tearing down Trump’s wall and sued Texas for trying to enforce the border on its own.
Will Joe console Laken Riley’s family?
A GOP issue squared to the 10th power: border + crime. A Venezuelan (seeking a better life?) — is charged with the apparently random murder of that nursing student jogging on the University of Georgia campus. He immigrated illegally in 2022 but was immediately released — “a practice the administration used when officials were overwhelmed with high numbers of crossings,” the New York Times excuses.
The Left’s amen corner now encourages Joe to keep Thursday’s State of the Union Address short. Less opportunity to wander off script, do the Mitch McConnell stare.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: The intractable partisan slant of most of our news media is as responsible for MAGA nation as anything. The point is, the mainstream media covered for Democrats, rather than objectively serving their readers. For that, thank Rachel Maddow, Anderson Cooper, John Nichols & Co. for giving Republicans an unbeatable issue. Only now is the news media turning on Joe — only because they realize he can’t defeat even a criminally indicted, psychotic narcissist like Donald Trump.
When will Joe announce that he will go?

SIDE NOTE: I’ve been paying very close attention to Biden when he speaks to the public lately and it honestly seems to me like he is over medicated or drunk, age does NOT explain what I’m seeing. The way he moves, the way he speaks, his overall slow mental and physical response to his surroundings, etc, etc all lead me to think that he’s over medicated with something. I’m seriously wondering if Biden is being over medicated with something like Xanax, that’s one of the medications that’s used to treat stuttering.
