Unlettered Field Hand: Whachoo pissed off about today, oh noble Head Groundskeeper?
Blaska: An editorial in the Wisconsin State Journal this morning.
Field Hand: But isn’t the WSJ your favorite morning newspaper published daily in Madison WI?
Blaska: It is, indeed!
Field Hand: And aren’t you most always P.O’d?
Blaska: I am, indeed! Because most journalists today just want to be accepted by their betters and so they hop on the happy bus and signal their Woke virtues at every turn! As evidence, let’s parse the pandering editorial the WSJ lifted from the Kansas City Star headlined (in the print version) “Super Bowl gunfire must lead to change.”
Field Hand: Is that the one whose subhead in the print version reads: “Half of the shooting victims at parade were kids, yet the GOP could seem to care less.”
Blaska: It is, although it should read “could NOT seem to care less” — but that mistake was made in Madison, not KC. Hey! Unlettered field hand, I thought you couldn’t read!
Field Hand: Um, well, what’s wrong with the editorial?
Blaska: Two things. First, it plays the race card. Apparently the governor of Missouri used the word “thugs” to describe the stupid, selfish, and amoral shooters at the Chiefs’ victory celebration. UPDATE: Two adults are now being charged with murder in addition to two teenagers charged with gun-related offenses. Both men were injured in the shooting. These feral kids and two adults are apparently settling scores amidst what should be happy times for young and old. Heedless of their fellow man.
Field Hand: Sexist!
Blaska: … a community brought together by its shared pride in the local football team. But not these THUGS! So KC Star newspaper jumps all over that description: “Dog whistle? You bet!” What should these Yoots be called, “Altar boys”?
In the rest of the world, Nikki Haley and others are calling Vladimir Putin the same word: “Thug!” Dog whistle? Hardly! The kids UPDATE: and the two arrested adults in KC sprayed gunfire indiscriminately, killing one and injuring 22 others. If that is not thuggish behavior, what is? Mafia hitmen are more circumspect. But we must genuflect at the altar of political correctness because, apparently, the thugs are not as white as Wonder Bread?
Thug: /THəɡ/ a violent, aggressive person, especially one who is a criminal. “He was attacked by a gang of thugs.”
Field Hand: What’s the other example of dumbassery curdling your Coffeemate this morning?
Blaska: The Kansas City Star blames gun laws. “No permit is necessary for anyone over the age of 18 to carry a concealed weapon,” the newspaper whines. The two accused THUGS are under-age; they’re in juvenile court, which is why we don’t know their names! UPDATE: Not known if the two adults, whose ages were not provided, had illegal guns.
Missouri law already bars anyone under age 18 from possessing guns, from concealing that weapon! Missouri law already bars all ages from wantonly shooting people!
Field Hand: I feel smarter already.
Blaska: Don’t interrupt me — I’m on a roll! These kids did not obey existing laws precisely because they are THUGS! And part of the reason they are THUGS is because of misplaced hand-wringing from progressives like the KC Star that eschews personal responsibility and refuses to demand accountability in favor of blaming gun laws, poverty, Covid-19, failure to pass the Voting Rights Act, our great-great grandfathers, implicit this and institutional that — “society” in general. (Blaska pauses to inhale.) I’m not leaving my favorite WI State Journal off the hook; it chose to run that horse wallow instead of thinking outside the kitty litter box!
Instead, both publications blame Republicans — who generally do not shoot up Super Bowl celebrations.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: So, yeah, Super Bowl gunfire should lead to change, but not the bumper sticker change the daily newspapers in Kansas City and Madison WI prescribe.

Amen, brother. Amen! It’s like what you see on local “news”casts: if they report on some THUG who’s charged with a crime and they don’t show his mug shot, you can be 100% guaranteed he’s black (please note lower-case ‘b’). What’s more despicable than their weasley reporting is their assumption that we’re incapable of figuring out their little PC code.
Just think of what we would be hearing if the shooters had an AR or AK. The calls for assault weapons(?) ban would be loudest. Since the politicians and their press allies only want to report their agenda, that is only what is reported. Amazing there is a picture of the person arrested in Colorado Springs murder of two people since this doesn’t fit the agenda either.
Looks like Sven and Ole are off the hook.
There is never a lack of weapon violations reported on Chief Barnes’ Blog.
And the Mayor of Chicago complains that Shot Spotter is racist because all the shots reported are from black and brown (tan?) neighborhoods.
