Democrats do NOT want fair maps

Memo to Madison progressives: Don’t toss those yard signs just yet! The ones reading “This Time, Fair Maps.”

Wisconsin Republicans did the math and it came out to 4 to 3 against them on the state supreme court. So the majority party bowed to that great hoary beast called The Inevitable and passed the legislative district lines drawn under the whip hand (we exaggerate!) of Tony Evers. Democrats, however, refuse to take yes for an answer. Only one Democrat in each house voted in favor of their governor’s own maps!

They are pressing Jah Tony to veto his own maps! We await the good gummint goo goos at the WI State Journal to editorially demand his signature on the redraw. (We’ve given up on the hyper-partisan Capital Times.) “The governor’s maps are pretty darn good,” judges Jay Heck, executive director of Common Cause Wisconsin.

This map proposed to the Supreme court would gerrymander Madison to give Democrats a majority.

Hold your tongue, Heck! Senate Democrat minority leader Dianne Hesselbein doubled down on partisanship. “Republicans hold an illegitimate majority and should not influence the state’s new maps. Their motives today, like their actions of the past decade, are ill-intentioned and self-serving.” Good thing her’s are not!

Paranoid Sen. Chris Larson, D-Milwaukee, hyperventilated: “I am voting no because I do not trust what you guys are up to.” You guys!

→ Tony Evers says his maps are purple, not red or blue.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Democrats want the Janet (spell it with me) Protasiewicz court to draw maps that will give them a fool-proof (but not Chris Larson-proof) majority — and an ambitious gerrymander is the only path to that (un)Promised Land.

Annette (spell it) Ziegler is the Chief Justice and can refuse the case because the legislator has already voted on and accepted Evers maps. Saves time and money. Plus; people need to know their districts and who is running in them. A couple of loudmouths will not derail this plan. The fallout will be Rump screaming at the gop for caving into the Dems. Rump just got drilled for 355M so he ain’t goina’ be in a good mood anyway.
