Eliminate UW diversity, equity, inclusion funding

Speaker Vos proposes reallocating DEI’s $16 million
to in-demand professions!

A statement from Republican WI Assembly Speaker Robin Vos:

Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and Senate majority leader Devin LeMahieu

“Currently, the University of Wisconsin System spends about $16 million annually on 226 positions related to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), with 74 of the positions concentrated at UW-Madison. UW-Eau Claire and UW-Whitewater are both second with 34 positions each.

I’ve called for eliminating funding for these positions as our universities have gone from being institutions of higher learning to institutions of indoctrination. The offices are teaching students to view the world entirely through the lens of race, which only grows the racial divide.

Universities have gone from teaching to indoctrination.

→ “It’s DEI or die for campus free speech.”

“Anecdotally I have heard from people who have had to fill out DEI statements to apply for a UW job and graduate students who have had to admit to their white privilege. This is preposterous!

If the UW System wants more funding, they need to show they can prioritize their basic functions of educating our students, especially those in high-demand fields like nursing and engineering. They can show they’re serious by reallocating the DEI funding to these places.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: This reform will eventually improve our kids’ schools by breaking education’s obsession with race and identity. Tell Speaker Vos you support defunding DEI!

Will wonders never cease?

What do all those DEI staffers do? Going to the UW Madison DEI web pages lists some graduates or programs, but are there any metrics? Do they do anything that the other zillion administrators aren’t already doing?

The percentage of employees that are designated as “administrators” has been ballooning for decades even as woke lunacy flourishes and free speech withers at colleges and universities across the country. DEI staffers provide an excellent option for minorities who can’t handle a job that actually requires talent and experience, and universities can point proudly to them as evidence of their commitment to hire members of “marginalized” communities. A win-win for everyone … except students and the poor saps (aka parents) who foot the bill.

Anyone else find it interesting it’s equity then inclusion? Otherwise the acronym would be truthful: DIE.

On a side note, why does the DEI crowd more diversity in sports? i.e. short people in basketball, tall people as jockeys, one armed hockey players, etc….

Today’s military is doing the same thing. Got a friend with a daughter that’s been in the Navy for 3 years, she bailing out. Military suicides are going through the roof.
One carrier that she was on (George Washington) had four suicides in a short period. It’s not what the recruiters sold them when they enlisted. Too much wokeness. BS. I belong to some FB Navy/Military groups. I can’t believe the non-military training they require. “Operational Readiness” is secondary. If we get in a war with Russia/China, it’ll be a real S show. FUBAR! CF!

Anyone else notice that the deterioration of race relations in our nation is directly proportional to the implementation of DEI and the insinuation of DEI professionals in to all institutions private and public?

      Heh!

That said, your Intersectionalized Institutionally Systemic Fragility toward Traditionally Marginalized Protected Class/Privileged Groups is showing…

“ deterioration of race relations in our nation” means White people feeling uncomfortable. Come on snowflakes, you can’t take a different perspective? If customers want to study these subjects and pay good money to do so why not let them? Thought police in full display….

If only the “pay good money” part was that easy. Not a fan of watching people go into ruinous debt and also not a fan of bailing them out.

Universities need to have more skin in the game.

Ruinous debt? Talk to the bankers then. I agree with not bailing borrowers out, but if they weren’t by and large paying those loans back they wouldn’t be getting issued.

Let them pay the full amount then, including all faculty and administrative costs that go with it. Don’t expect the taxpayers to fund worthless degrees and then pay more when the recipients can’t find meaningful employment. If I’m going to be forced to invest in public and higher education, I want a return on my investment.

Vos’s proposal is a great start–but only a start. The Legislature should withhold funding–all funding–from UW Madison and only UW Madison–until it agrees to 1) eliminate all DEI positions, 2) eliminate all programs with the word “Studies” in them, e.g., Gender Studies, Black Studies, Latinx Studies, Queer Studies, etc., 3) reduce administrative staff across the board by one-third, 4) implement a student complaint process whereby students could report attempts by professors, administrators, or staff to indoctrinate and/or intimidate students and would be free from any type of legal repercussions for reporting them, 5) eliminate any so-called “safe spaces” currently designated for minorities, 6) implement a color-blind admissions and hiring process approved by the Legislature. Once the other UW campuses see what happens to UW-Madison if it fails to comply, they’ll quickly fall in line.

DEI is an MLM scheme similar to Herbalife. The people at the bottom are taken advantage of and the only very awful people make their way to the top.

I,m betting that 16 million will be swallowed up in some secret meeting filled with “pocket vetos” and will never be used for the taxpayers. What say you Dave? Is there a story there or not?
