Blaska Policy Werkes

David Blaska, going out of his way to provoke progressives in Madison WI to make America safe for democracy!

A tale of two moralities

Let’s forgive mistakes except when the wrong people apologize for them!

The indentured servants at the Werkes take a blood oath to oppose hyper-partisan, situational ethics wherever they may find it, cross their hearts and hope to die. Regrettably, The Capital Times of Madison WI is a rich source of this hypocrisy.

Jeffrey Copeland

Belatedly and after the fact, “Your progressive voice” this week approved the Madison school board’s reinstatement of middle school principal Jeffrey Copeland after what it admits was “an absurd, months-long controversy” over Copeland supposedly disrespecting a possibly minority job applicant for poor communication skills. Months during which The Capital Times remained absurdly silent and, therefore, complicit.

Dare not risk taking the school disciplinarian’s side when it really mattered, which was before the school board reversed their termination of the principal at Sennett last week 12-02-22. Because the Capital Times invested too much capital in electing those cancel culture board members in the first place.

“Public figures who make honest mistakes and apologize for their errors can and should continue to serve.’

The Capital Times:School board takes a commonsense approach.’

Slide to right to reject the apology; slide to left to accept the apology

Gary Halverson

Too bad the same moral yardstick did not apply to Gary Halverson. He’s the Northeast side alder who mistakenly sent dues money to the Oath Keepers before realizing their on-line pitch papered over their insurrectionist mission.

“I thought I joined an organization that welcomed veterans who cared about our democracy. I was misled and I terminated the membership two months later in August 2020,” Well before Tr•mp’s January 6, 2021 insurrection, which Halverson denounced. Was nowhere near the nation’s capitol that day. Is not chasing Mike Pence with a hangman’s rope.

Mattered not to the holier than thou’s at the CT. Halverson “needed to step down.” After a pro forma denunciation of the resultant vandalism at Halverson’s family home, there was this equivocation: “The fact of Halverson’s past involvement with the Oath Keepers sparked resentment.”

To replace the middle-of-the-road alder, hardline council president Keith Furman appointed fellow progressive Sabrina Madison, who duly voted with the progressives against accepting a federal grant to help police troubled youth (another hot-button issue over which the CT remained silent).

Now if only celebrated actor Fredric March could apologize for his honest mistake as a UW undergrad in 1922!

Out and about

Good chance Fitchburg’s Brian Schimming will become the next chairman of WI Republican Party. Also being considered are Jesse Garza, third vice chairman, and Ben Voelkel, a campaign aide to Ron Johnson. But Schimming virtually drove the RoJo campaign bus and knows every county board member, village trustee and town supervisor in Wisconsin. Schimming is a happy warrior in the mold of Tommy Thompson, a principled conservative, and a messaging mastermind. The big change: Republicans are finally going to pay their chairs, which Democrats have been doing for years. Decision Saturday on who succeeds Paul Farrow, who has his hands full running Waukesha County.

Hats off to Herschel Walker for manfully conceded his loss in Georgia. He floated no conspiracy theories, offered no excuses, and urged Republicans “to continue to believe in the Constitution.”  Would that … Ah, never mind.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Gary Halverson was a public figure who made an honest mistake and apologized but was not allowed to continue to serve.

Why do YOU think Halverson was not forgiven?

And people wonder why people in the middle don’t run for office. Everything you have said or done in previous years will be scrutinized to use against you. You will be demonized by The Capital Times and every left woke organization. Your name will be trashed and your house will be vandalized to the point you won’t want to go shopping at Woodman’s. You will consider moving to get you and your family’s life back to normal.
I hope Dr. Copeland has a long career at MMSD but I think there are people in management that already want to get rid of him. It wouldn’t surprise me if in a year or two he is on his way to a new job somewhere else.

  3. David asked, “Why do YOU think Halverson was not forgiven?”

    The usual “progressive” reasons…
    1. He’s white. (“progressives” are anti-white bigots)
    2. He’s a man. (“progressives” are misandrist bigots)
    3. He’s a Conservative. (“progressives” are partisan bigots)
    4. He was connected, however remotely or obscure it may be and regardless of truth, to Donald Trump and his supporters. (“progressives” are pure TDS bigots)

Oh, did I mention that “progressives” are bigots?

To be honest Walker was a loser from the start. He was nice about it but had a plane ticket in his pocket while he was speaking. The sad part…the repuks are already discussing changes to the voting laws that will make it harder for people to vote. The last changes backfired so now they need to change the rules again.

    1. In other words, the Republicans are not very good at vote suppression — if they are suppressing votes at all. How exactly did Georgia “suppress” voters? By expanding the permanent (non-Covid) window for early voting? By allowing no excuse mail-in voting to continue? Byadding 100 new ballot drop boxes? By issuing free government-issued IDs?

Reid Epstein New York Times 12/8/’22. Raffensperger(R). “There will be a debate next year over potential adjustments to Georgia’s runoff laws and voting procedures after Sen. Warnock’s victory.” 1. open more early voting locations. Early voting hours were the result of a lawsuit. Fewer days to vote. New restrictions on absentee ballots. 2. lower the threshold from 50% to 45% to avoid runoffs. 3. ranked choice instant runoff system that would not require voters to come back. (How that works in a mystery) In ’21 the runoff period was 9 weeks before voting. This time it was 4 weeks which made it impossible for absentee ballots to be mailed out. Those ballots in ’21 accounted for 24% in the runoff. In “22 it was 5%. Georgia has 159 counties and only 28 opened for in-person early voting. Conclusion: did all this screwing around with voting hurt the R’s? By looking at their reaction they must believe it did. PS… you call me a drunk and a liar then speak of gutter talk? Maybe you’re the one who needs to temper your posts.

      1. Interesting reply from Richard. He quotes a bonified Democratic Party hack like Reid Epstein of the left wings most prominent propaganda Pravda like media outlet, the New York Times, as a source for accurate information. Richard clearly doesn’t understand propaganda.

The Republicans are not trying to make it harder for people to vote, it’s a false and unsupportable claim, it’s pure propaganda. What IS happening is the Democrats are trying to strip elections of their true integrity by bastardizing election laws, allowing anyone to vote without proof of who they are, violating state constitutions regarding elections, and trying to federalize election law which happens to be unconstitutional.

It’s become pretty clear that existing Constitutions, both at the State and Federal level, and actual existing laws are the enemy of the Democratic Party pushing their agenda. Democratic Party is morally bankrupt.

Honestly Richard, how the hell would a incorrigible progressive imbecilic troll like yourself know what Fox News says? Heck even I don’t watch Fox News, well at least rarely for direct headline news story comparisons, so your ad hominem smear is nothing but your usual trolling deflection.

The two crimes do not conflate.

Dr. Copeland’s comments were a direct attack on the anglophonically impaired, and did “harm” to that marginalized community. Future studies might show that middle-school students are MUCH more concerned with the race, gender identity, pronouns, and sexual proclivities of their teacher – rather than the ability to communicate and be understood. Dr. Copeland’s skin color is most agreeable, and it is hoped that with proper education he will show contrition, learn the axioms of “wokeness”, and learn to speak its language.

Mr. Halverson, on the other hand, unwittingly contributed to a group called the “Oath Keepers”, the very name of which, would send shivers up the hypothetical spine of someone who self-identifies as being “woke”. How this example of “privilege” was allowed to seek, (and attain) office is “not who Madison is”. All owe a debt of thanks to the council president Mx. Keith Furmxn, (Furperson?, I don’t know their pronouns). THEY were able to correct this injustice, and courageously strike a blow for diversity and equity by rightly appointing a Black Woman to the position.

Madison progressives can claim a direct line of descent from the Pharisees, whose hypocrisy and self-righteousness Christ delighted in exposing–not that it made any of them change their ways. “Whitened sepulchers” indeed.

How is it that we can absorb thousands of people every month who come across our boarder from Mexico, some who are drug dealers who spread dangerous drugs that kill our people, some who sell children to either work or be sex slaves in the U.S. when we are now shipping people from Cuba who came here years ago to other country’s?

Children from Mexico being sold for as little as $85.00. Can you say slavery?

This according to the left is just business as usual.

This to me is the new left. Ignore the obvious, and embrace the idea that slavery for some is acceptable for some while any support of a far right organization, even though it was in error, is unacceptable.

Disgraceful, but not surprising. The Capital Times has proven for years that, when it comes to pushing progressive narratives, they do not care about traditional journalistic values like objectivity, fairness, or even truth. Why any reasonable person would expect otherwise from them is beyond me. That would be like expecting Jim Morrison to deliver a performance stone cold sober.

Jim Morrison is, of course, stone cold dead, having long ago been laid to rest among the late and great in Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris.

Favorite Doors creation: “When the Music’s Over”.

Yes, Morrison is dead indeed (unfortunately), he was just the first person that came to mind when thinking about defiance of sobriety.

Val Kilmer sounded eerily similar to the real guy in The Doors movie. Riders On The Storm may not be their best creation, but it evokes the most memories for me.
