Everyone Brandi Grayson doesn’t like is a racist
Who knew? Madison’s Tenant Resource Center, founded by Brenda Konkle, the doyenne of Progressive Dane, is racist!? So says, anyway, Brandi Grayson, candidate for alder on the April 6 ballot.
Ms. Grayson is the lady who blockades Madison rush hour traffic and runs the social justice boutique Urban Triage, a beneficiary of taxpayer largesse.
She was after the $7.5 million the federal government is showering on the City of Madison to prevent home eviction. But the city devolved 90% of the money on Tenant Resource Center (TRC) and 10% to other agencies, including some unspecified portion to her Urban Triage and others. So Brandi Grayson rallied her social justice warriors.
“The city chose their favorite white organization to serve Black people,” Brandi Grayson stormed on-line. … It is white supremacy in ACTION. … It is paternalism in action.”
Urban Triage Facebook friend Megan Berge had the temerity to seek clarification (while itemizing her woke bonafides):
“TRC is a unique resource in our community. I am happy to go to bat for you and follow your direction, but the last time I interacted with TRC, I worked with Alix Shabazz. Brenda Konkel works closely with black activists. And their current director is a POC [person of color].
I’m not asking you to explain a concept or historical moment I can easily Google, such as generational wealth or white privilege or Tuskegee experiment; we are asking you to help us understand the why so we can be better informed. … I was under the impression that they were an organization of allies.”
Grayson answered (in effect) ‘cuz I said so!:
“Trust Black people & Black women. Everything that we don’t have time to explain or educate when we are out here doin the work & organising right now? when I say that their anti Black I mean it…its not made up. And whether I give you exact moments of their anti Blackness should matter not based on the fact alone.”
Still puzzled, Megan pressed:
“I am happy to register in opposition, but are you opposing TRC getting and distributing the money? If so, I guess I did not realize this was a white-centered org. Do you have anymore information to share to help us understand?”
Whereupon Alix Shabazz stepped to the keyboard to pile on Megan Berge “Don’t tokenize me. I left the TRC years ago.”
Properly shamed, Ms. Berge abased herself: “I was wrong. I apologize.”
Whereupon one Michael Yaker contributed this: “The City County Building is A S [* * *] Stain on the Fabric of Democracy.”
Apparently taken aback, Megan asked “What???”
Yaker (listed as a “Top Fan” of Urban Triage”) explained: “The City of Madison is based out of that building The fascist she refers too who make these decisions have there offices in the City County Building.”
Blaska’s Bottom Line: A Progressive Dane mayor, nine PD alders and more who vote with them, a Progressive Dane service provider. Not Good Enough. Just like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, not good enough for Portland. It never will be.
Blaska, you need to play this. Brandi Grayson knows PDs woke narrative is that, a narrative. PD and it’s NGOs, in this case TRC, aren’t really conceding enough accounting power. Despite being a beneficiary of NGO largesse, Grayson seems to believe she can pick off more, by pointing out PD isn’t really in the game of helping the less fortunate, they’re mostly about controlling public money cash flows to their own NGOs. Easy sinecures, whats not to like? Talk to her, give her a platform. I think the real left (as opposed to the umc woke) and conservatives have mutual interests here. Mainly slowing cash flows to the umc through nonsense NGOs masquerading as helping pocs.

Somewhere I heard there are more than 2,000 nonprofits in Madison. I’m sure some of them do good work and help people who need it….but…. 2,000???? This really is not that large of a city. How much money is funneled through 2,000 nonprofits — and for what??
Add all that to the “resources” of the City, County, and State and one wonders why there is endless howling about “unmet needs” and “suffering” and “we need to do better”….
Has anyone ever for one moment stopped to ask a few questions about where all these resources are going and the whether all of it is effective and efficient?
Your number is wrong. As of 1-3-21 the number of non-profits and 501c in Dane County was 7040. In the entire state…37,093. Your welcome.
Not far off if we are talking Madison vs. all of Dane County which has twice the population of the city. In any event with thousands of nonprofits plus all the “resources” of multiple levels of government, the real question isn’t whether there are 2,000, 3,500, or 7,000 but where the hell are the results of all this frenzied activity with thousands of agencies stepping all over each other?
You’re barking up the RIGHT TREE, AC!

It’s an industry at this point. Some are true to their mission statements and help those in need. Most are auxiliary and just unnecessary administration. They’re mostly offices full of people e-mailing one another superfluous info. I’ve attended a few of their “work” parties through the years. It’s not what most people would imagine what “helping” looks like in practice.
Really makes one wonder. If the 1/3/21 number posted above is accurate that’s 1 NGO agency for every 70 people in Dane County. I have heard other states being ripped for nonprofit agency bloat for having 1 agency per 400-500 people!
I know there is real need but here it’s cartoonist overkill…. an apparently endless gravy train.
All these non-profits need to be investigated and regulated. Look at the NRA. Millions of dollars. Corruption. Now; chapter 13 and a boatload of lawsuits. 501c, political campaigns, they all need to be looked at.
Just bought my house in a lily white, blissfully conservative part of FL. Hopefully we can stave off the liberalcrats at least until I’m senile. So long, suckers!
