Republicans are beginning to wean themselves from Trump
I’m back in the U.S.S.R.
You don’t know how lucky you are, boy
… That Georgia’s always on
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my mind
Kamala Harris is going to be very busy the next two years. The two Republican senators in Georgia were lackluster candidates. Kelly Loeffler had this vacant, Stepford wives stare. David Perdue skipped a debate? What kind of candidate skips a debate? Both were ethically challenged but they were crippled by a spectral wraith — Donald Trump.
The Republic will survive. Democrats will over-reach. In the Squad and Bernie (add Warnock and Ossof) they carry seeds of their own destruction. In the meantime, America will not go communist, we’ll keep our guns, we won’t be speaking Chinese — contrary to the choir of bulging neck veins.
The Georgia results broke the back of Trumpism. His phone call to Brad Raffensperger was hunker-in-the-bunker bonkers. The President’s coattails are toxic. He under-performed all five Republican congressmen in Wisconsin, who won election without difficulty. Had he matched their performance, he would have won the state.
Georgia, we should note, elected a Republican legislature in November and until today had two Republican U.S. senators. Republicans in November flipped two Democratic seats to take 10 of its 14 House seats even as Trump lost the state for the first Republican defeat in 28 years. Two years ago Georgia elected a Republican governor and secretary of state. As for the crazies who would suspend the Constitution in order to install Donald Trump for four more years, they are our version of the Squad and their social justice warriors. Tuesday 2021 is on Donald Trump. (Worth noting that Stacey Abrams said Georgia elections were crooked two years ago. The Democrat STILL has not conceded to Gov. Brian Kemp.)

Trump pulled the temple down on his own head
The Morning Dispatch nails it:
The GOP was hamstrung from fully making its best case — a Republican Senate as a check on the Biden administration — because acknowledging the reality of a Biden administration would likely provoke a vengeful Trump tweet. This weekend’s leaked call between the president and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger almost assuredly kept some suburban Biden voters from coming home and voting Republican.
We’ll watch the fun and games this afternoon as Congress certifies the Electoral College vote. Not surprised if a handful of Republican legislators blast Trump and his -isms. As for Trump’s Bitter Enders, they will not trust the fingers on their own hands unless Trump bestows his blessing. They will beclown themselves in the streets of Washington for the entertainment of WOW county suburbanites. At least, they will break no windows.
Some time late today (01-06-21), after all the palaver, Mike Pence will declare Biden/Harris the winner and go home to Indiana and say no more.
‘Trump threw it away’
“Elections are unfair. Unfairness is part of the fitness test … If Mr. Trump didn’t find a way to prevail in the world we actually live in, the blame starts with him. … He lost the pivotal electoral votes of Georgia, Arizona, and Wisconsin by fewer than 43,000 votes. … He absurdly over-supplied those voters with reasons to vote against him and he still almost won.” — Holman Jenkins in the Wall Street Journal.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: It will take some time for the Republican party to detoxify itself from Trump’s paranoid narcissism. But the man did show the way to a worker-oriented, traditional values political movement. The party’s task is to find someone with the common touch who isn’t batty. So far, Sen. Tom Cotton looks good. Maybe Ben Sasse or Nikki Haley. Like they say after hurricanes, we will rebuild.
As for the crazies who would suspend the Constitution in order to install Donald Trump for four more years, they are Republicans In Name Only.

“The MAGA-hatted rally mob will scare regular people.”
Well, that all sure went south quicker than I feared it would. Nice work, Trump, Mob-Inflamer-in-Chief. Pence and that gutless cabinet need to invoke the 25th Amendment ASAP.
What on earth else did you expect from Trump’s rhetoric (“It’s gonna be wild!) and his slack-jawed cult supporters? Good thing they’re not Black; most would be shot by now.
Slow yer roll there Reverend Sharpton, Lefty’s going to need your hysterical slobbering to explain away how GA elected a wife beatin’ child abuser.
#MeToo #It’sForTheChildren!
Ah Lefty; so MUCH crushing hypocrisy, so little time!
The Gotch
“Good thing they’re not black; most would be shot by now.” Really? Before or after cops took a knee?
Heh! 2.0
The Gotch
Looks like the Capitol cops are the ones who took a knee today. Major security fail.
A nervous congress is fine with me. It cheers me up but good to see ABob standing for law and order.
bobo,
Why only come out of hibernation to comment now?
Where were you during all the violence and destruction being committed by Antifa, BLM, and other violent thug anarchists these past months? What a guy…
To be honest Batty, I couldn’t stand interacting with no-brain, fascist-lovin’ Trump supporters any longer. Still can’t, but at least the voters have clearly spoken and that fool is headed to the dustbin of history. Hope you’re all proud of your boy’s incitement of the violent knuckle-draggers…excuse me, “Trump supporters”…in DC yesterday.
No bobo, you’re avoiding the question and *not* being honest.
Big surprise coming from a “good German.”
Ooooomph! That’ll leave a mark!
ABob, The Gotch is glad you’re out of this most recent ReHab stint & back-at-it, though the timing is decidedly questionable….and questionable.
That said, he must confess the conspicuous absence, and COMPLETE lack of admonishing Lefty’s despicably destructive summer-n-fall of discontent begs askance.
Honestly answering the Caped Crusader’s query (a suffocating ignorance of all the violence and destruction being committed by Antifa, BLM, other violent, thug anarchists during the last nine months) might send you into a tailspin.
Your pal hopes that’s not the case…
The Gotch
“Good German?” Now WTF are you talking about?
As to your question: where was I during blah, blah…?
I did not support the violence or destruction during the (otherwise justified) BLM protests or throwing Heg in the lake or the beating of Sen. Carpenter (a friend of mine).
What’s your excuse for supporting America’s Hitler and his Q-booted thugs trying to overthrow democracy yesterday? You unAmerican bootlickers turn my stomach.
Blaska, do you know what “coattails” mean? All five WI Reps WON, in fact the GOP didn’t lose a house seat and picked up 12! That’s not “toxic” Dave. It’s the opposite.
And how did Trump underperform the GOPers in WI? Results for Trump by Congressional district are hard to find, but I did see that both he and Brian Stell in D-1 got 56% of the vote. I’m guessing you compared each of the Congressional races against Trumps sttae wide total…RIGHT? That’s sad if you did.
“Coat tails” are a winning candidate pulling others down ballot along with him. Trump under-performed. You mentioned Brian Steil (correct spelling) in District 1. Steil got 59.3% of the vote in WI District #1, Trump got 54%. Steil pulled Trump through. Yes stated, Georgia picked up two Republican congressmen even as Trump lost the state.
I don’t usually agree with you Dave, but again; a good catch. Hit them with the facts. The one thing I like about your posts is not letting blatant BS pass. ( Your; not you’re)
Four, count ’em, four congressional seats flipped in California. Whose coat tails?
Trump lost California big-time. He did not pull anyone with him. That is the definition of coat tails. Look it up.
So it begins; BLEXIT baby steps from of all places, the State of Georgia:
FORMER democrat State Representative Vernon Jones:
I Am Officially Joining THE REPUBLICAN PARTY
Now more than ever, the Republican Party is in desperate need of leaders that know how to fight. I Know How To Fight!
Welcome aboard Mr. Jones!
The Gotch
Jones? A FORMER representative? Now unemployed. Who the F cares what he says.
Honestly; how monumentally ignorant must someone be that they’re unable to unpack that Jones’ status as “former” is because he RESIGNED before his term expired because he was viscerally sick (like SO many of the rest of us!) of the democrat Party of WAR, DEATH, HATRED and RAYCISM?
Taking a stand like Jones requires having a spine, that part of the anatomy incuriously absent from your garden variety career Lefty.
Anywho, it gets worse.
The talented Mr. Jones: “A generation of African American families have been devastated by draconian policies that Joe Biden supported and voted for when he served in the U.S. Senate.
A CHANGE WAS NEEDED AND PRESIDENT TRUMP TOOK ACTION. (bolds/caps/italics mine)
Ah Lefty; so much blatant support of Systemic RAYcism, so little time.
The Gotch
I guess we all see what side of law and order you are on gotch. I said former; I didn’t qualify why. And how did you make the jump to RAYcism. Your just an old fool gotch.
I”m old enough to remember way, way, long ago in 2011 when Progressives occupied the Wisconsin statehouse for about two months. Maybe some here are too young to remember such ancient history, but it did happen. There are even articles about it on the web!
But I don’t recall any objections by Progressives waaaaay back then in the long ago time of 2011 to such Occupy tactics, even though some of the union people were downright menacing to government folks just trying to do their jobs. Back then it was all “understandable frustration” and “listen to the people”, remember?
It was foolish and dangerous then, and it’s foolish and dangerous now. The difference, of course, comes down to that old Leftist trope: “Who? Whom?”; it’s different when the Left does something.
Progressives might want to reassess their objectives and methods, because this whole “threaten and intimidate everyone we don’t like” approach to politics seems to be causing a kind of reaction. Unfortunately history teaches me the Left will just double down. So I guess we’ll be seeing the Antifa goons unleashed again, maybe starting in Kenosha? I hope not, but it’s entirely possible.
Ah yes, who could forget the ill-kempt, aptly named Rotundas screeching in The Key Of ME!
The most deliciously ironic part about it?
The slobberers having their paychecks justifiably docked for their time off; a small taste of the fact-based reality in which most of us dwell, but a taste nevertheless!
The Gotch
Are the slobbering trumpsters going to have their paychecks docked for what they did today? Are they going to pay to bury the woman who died today? YOU are full of crap gotch. A two-faced blowhard. A fool who has a handful of people that love to hang on your every post because they don’t have a mind of their own.
As usual you have selective memory, ACT 10 protesters did indeed occupy the State Capitol, but the difference is most were allowed in and didn’t assault LE or tear down barricades put in place to keep them out. Totally different.
didn’t assault LE or tear down barricades put in place to keep them out.
Oh, come on. Remember the State Street side doors? The police were ordered not to resist. In fact, they were ordered to unlock doors. Let me help you with your memory.
https://madison.com/wsj/news/local/govt-and-politics/article_260247e0-4ac4-11e0-bfa9-001cc4c03286.html
You have one set of rules for people you like, and different set of rules for all the rest of us. Very Progressive! But rather hypocritical.
Totally different, I don’t recall seeing any barricades set up around our state capitol to keep protestors away from the unprecedented action taken by Slime-dog Walker and his henchmen. Storming through barricades to stop the most sacred tradition of our democracy solely because you believe in lies, falsehoods and a fake narrative is sedition. Did State Capitol occupiers threaten security and chase after them like the rabid followers of trump? NO.
The Gop had better pidk up the pace on weaning real soon. Trump is both toxic and atal to GOp
prospects in the future. An. AND THEN WE HAD THE INVASTION TODAY AT THE NATION’S
CAPITOL, WHICH CLEARLY WAS THE FAULT OF Donald tRUMP AND HIS ENABLERS, LIKE
RON JOHNSON.
Richard May-I-Call-Ya-Dick… Be careful about what ya wish for. Then again ya seem to like getting yer head pulled off and handed back. Again, and again, and again by The Gotch….
georgessgirl May I Call You Peck$rhe#d. What am I wishing for? Gotch has nothing on me. What the hell are you talking about anyway? Are you becoming an old fool like gotch. You seem to be another spineless deck like Pence.
Richard AKA Dick, I was commenting specifically to your post about… Wait a minute, my comment actually applies to ALL yer specious disgorgements. By all means, please carry on, we all love a good laugh at yer expense. And regularly gettin’ yer head handed back to ya by Cornelius Gotchberg.
“ALL yer specious disgorgements”
Bravo Indigo November Golf Oscar!

When confronted with blinding cluelessness, epic Talleyrand comes to mind:
Alas, what a sad old age you are preparing for yourself!
For angry, bitter 75 year olds with the terminal sadz, and who post nothing but unintelligible, horrendously off-topic drivel, that sad old age is HERE!!
#PitiablyPathetic!!

Were the Defund The Police Congressional Lefties cowering like frightened rodents while they awaited the arrival of counselors…?
Seems like they all have a lot of energy-n-outrage to spare.
Funniest thing; this “energy-n-outrage to spare” was incuriously missing while Portland, Seattle, Milwaukee, Philly, NYC, Freattle, Minneapolis, Kenosha, Miami, Louisville, Cleveland, Dallas, Atlanta, Raleigh, AND D.C., all burned from the FIERY But Mostly Peaceful Protests.
But then again, per DementiaJoe (whom The Gotch quotes): “Antifa is an idea, not an organization” and Jerry ‘Nadless (also quoted): “Antifa’s a myth”.
Despicable Lefties!!!
The Gotch
Dave, just the right touch here all the way.
After all that happened today Ron Johnson is STILL voting to overturn Biden’s win. Sedition. Leave now Ron. Resign Today.
I (send money) Ron Johnson (send money) swear that I (send money) will vote (send money) against (send money) Joe Biden (send money) being president (send money.)
Steve-O-in-NJ (fromanotherblogsite) and edited for space says:
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t shocked at the assault on the Capitol today, which ended up taking a life. I’d also be lying if I said I was all that shocked. Maybe it’s the lawyer in me, but I happen to believe that context matters, and I also happen to believe that the totality of the circumstances matters when judging something. The totality of the circumstances is that what happened today did not happen in a vacuum. I haven’t forgotten what happened this summer, featuring such highlights as the burning down of most of downtown Minneapolis, 100 nights of rioting and assaults in Portland, the attempt to secede from the United States and warlordism in Seattle, assaults by Molotov cocktail on police in New York and the assault on the White House, together with the destruction of a good chunk of this nation’s public art. Neither should anyone else have.
I also haven’t forgotten that the recent election cycle, despite the mainstream media’s attempt to blow past it, was rife with problems, mostly due to capitalization on the current pandemic to introduce loose and unsecure mail-in balloting to benefit almost exclusively one party. Finally, I haven’t forgotten that those who want to examine these problems thoroughly have been denied the ability to make their case, as court after court dismisses them on procedural grounds before a record can be developed, or even to discuss them, as Big Tech appends discrediting labels or silences them outright.
I seem to remember a few phrases getting thrown around this past summer, and one of them was “riots are the language of the unheard.” It means that if you feel disenfranchised, or unfairly treated, or like you are not being heard, then violence and destruction are justified. Congratulations on undermining every parent in the world, but, putting that aside, it’s both foolish and unfair to think that reasoning is reserved for only one side or one set of issues. If you didn’t think that reasoning and phraseology would leak across the aisle, then you don’t understand human nature. Leak across it did, and those who assembled today in Washington and decided to make a “mostly peaceful” demonstration no doubt had exactly that phrase and many others on their mind, together with the idea that turnabout is fair play, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander, and so on.
The president sure as the devil doesn’t get a pass on this. When you know the forest is bone dry, you make damn sure you don’t create any sparks and you sure as hell don’t throw a match into it. The president threw a torch into it. That said, he’s really no different than the same people who whipped up all these other disturbances, just on a larger scale.
That said, there is also only so much anger, frustration, and helplessness that people can feel before they throw all that to the side. That goes double if there is a perception, right or wrong, that the rules are being enforced unfairly, and the other side is getting away with things they should not be. It doubles again if there is a perception, right or wrong, that your side is being muzzled and your views do not matter. It doubles yet again if the other side mocks you, and we all know there is a lot of outright mockery out there.
So, this is just one more symptom of the illness that has plagued this nation for about five years, since one side decided the other had no legitimacy and nothing to say because it said so. I don’t like that it came to this, but it did, and it’s likely to keep coming to this if that side keeps up the same attitude. I warned several times earlier this year if we didn’t stop this we were going to be headed for a point when the right was going to get fed up and strike back. Well, here we are.
Oh, and if you didn’t speak up last summer when cities were getting burned and trashed, don’t speak up now.
NO. Trump isn’t like everyone else. He’s the friggin’ president. Why condemn what happened this summer and then repeat it yourself in the same way. The country was lied to for 4 years. Covid is fake, Fauci is a fake, the news is fake, I won by hundreds of thousands of votes. Trump and the right wingers have lied to us over and over. Mexico will pay, China will pay, on and on. All BS. 60 court cases lost. Three recounts in Georgia. Why were “cities getting burned and trashed”? It was because black men were choked to death on video in the middle of a street. A black woman was shot in her bed. Trump’s ego and lies started this one today.
The VP chief of staff Marc Short has been banned from the WH grounds by trump. This is your stable genius??????
So, I know you’re all wondering what will Rinoceros Moronicus Blaska will write about in the moroning? He’ll write about how the smelly Walmart shopping liberal blog readers he has are complicit with the POTUS in his clear instructions to invade the capital mall and disrupt everything. Everyone should belong to the Unisex Blaska Ultra Liberal Globalist America-Hating Neocon Anti-Trump Backstabbing Republican Douchebag Party! Gfys Blaska you are a worthless POS.
Got em! TWICE as many people died in Kenosha as in DC so get some perspective traitor!
Holy nuts Dave; usually that kind of post is reserved for me. Hang in there buddy.
