Madison police brace for more cuts

More shootings, riots, looting?
Would cutting the police help?

The more cynical among the gray lab coats here at the Werkes suggest a civic improvement for our beloved Madison WI: receptacles for spent firearm shell casings. Now seen only at the better shooting ranges, they would be positioned on street corners where once the U.S. Postal Service blue metal boxes stood ready to accept your essential mail.

Our favorite morning daily newspaper based in Madison alerted the Werkes to this need:

‘Shell casings pile up in Madison as city,
activists try to contain spike in gun violence’

Since June 30, the city has seen two fatal shootings, at least 18 incidents of shots fired, nine residences and nine vehicles struck by gunfire, and about 160 shell casings recovered, police said. That doesn’t include incidents in neighboring communities. Madison police and community activists are struggling to contain the “unprecedented” level of gun violence in recent weeks.

War on Cops bookcoverPolice are the problem???

Rioting, a breakdown in social order, will do that to a town. Toppling statues of abolitionists in the name of racial justice and beat downs of gay Democrats have opened the sewer grates to the likes of career criminals like Yeshua Musa and other street aliases.

As it is, our Progressive Dane mayor is asking the cops to budget 5% less, along with the other city departments.State Street from the UW Memorial Library to the State Capitol is boarded up. Downtown Madison is not safe after 4:30. Sheriff says so.

Our elected city leaders have placed the blame solely on Mame, boys. We mean, the police. The betting window at the Werkes is open for which alder will move to Defund the Police. Odds favor any of the eight Progressive Dane contingent.

As it is, our Progressive Dane mayor is asking the cops to budget 5% less, along with the other city departments.

Acting Chief Vic Wahl responds that “This proposal for MPD’s 2021 budget is being prepared and delivered in the midst of an unprecedented period. The COVID-19 pandemic, increased gun violence, and weeks of civil unrest/protests have put immense strain on the department.”

What would a 5% cut mean to MPD?:

• Eliminating 26 sworn officers, 9 full-time civilian positions, and 5) hourly positions.

 Diminishing MPD’s racial “equity” goals.

•  No more school crossing guards

Add to that, Ald. Max Prestigiacomo (Progressive Dane) proposes prohibiting MPD from obtaining any property from the Defense Logistics Agency, including face masks and first aid kits.

Peanuts, compared to what very well may be coming. Ald. Skidmore predicts “here are alders who will be demanding that the MPD budget must be cut by a minimum of $20 million.” That is almost one-quarter of MPD’s $86 million budget.

A case study in police de-escalation

Police Chief Vic Wahl details “the potential real-world consequences of political/budget decisions” on a police call to a “suicide by cop” incident on Friday morning 07-10-2020.

The individual walked out of the residence, holding a large butcher knife. He was shouting that the officers were going to have to shoot him and waving the knife. Officers maintained distance and did not engage the individual. He entered his vehicle, and drove at the officers’ staging area at a high rate of speed. They took cover behind trees and vehicles, and the subject’s vehicle stopped just prior to hitting a squad. The family was still present at the staging area, and the individual was less than 10 feet away from them where he stopped. He opened the door – while holding the large knife – and started to exit. …

Officers deployed less lethal tools — a Taser and a 40 mm launcher firing a sponge impact round, forcing the individual to drop the knife.
He was then taken into custody (uninjured) and conveyed to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. This was about the best possible outcome under the circumstances … a product of training, culture, policy, hiring, and having the right equipment in the right place at the right time.

… one of the squads being used in the pilot program happened to be one who responded to the scene. That stroke of luck may have saved this man’s life. … The current budget will not allow us to equip every squad with a 40mm launcher.

Tragic, but then again, the cops (not to mention most of the citizenry) not only sit back and accept the lunacy, some even surrender to it.

I lost respect for Mahoney a long time ago, and have few good things to say about Wahl (someone I used to hold in high regards) ever since the demonstrations started.

At a time of national unrest, WE NEED LEADERS, NOT KNEELERS who don’t seem to realize that no matter how often they surrender, the mobs will only demand and take more and more and more.

Cops have been demoralized. Morale at MPD and at PDs across the country has plummeted yet again and cops have “checked out.” Retirement requests in places like NYC have skyrocketed. Can’t imagine what recruitment efforts will look like.

The situation is much worse than many think. Make no mistake, we, the public ARE less safe than we were.

Want to add that this is no longer just a “crazy Madison thing.” This lunacy IS spreading like a virus across the country, INCLUDING to the suburbs and rural areas.

The Silent Majority is fortunately starting to push back. They finally understand what’s at stake if they don’t.

Well I can’t vote with my feet just yet. I guess writing in Koval for D.A. Is a symbolic gesture for a protest vote. Otherwise, Mark Millers replacement better hope I’m not home if they stop by to pander for my vote. If Sargent or McKinney do show up I’m going to tell them about the recently foreclosed on crack house next door. I’ll tell them that I’ve had the Sheriffs dept. in my backyard with M16s drawn on several occasions. I’m going to tell them that some of the most dangerous criminals in the county have passed through that crummy bungalow and I’ve lost count as to how many times the cops have been there. My personal favorite is a pistol-whipping and beating and robbery that I could feel through the ground and walls while I’m having dinner in my living room. The assailants took the guys Air Jordan’s and threw them in my backyard. I
found them next spring, they were my size! We called the cops but they were a little late btw. But yeah I’ll tell them I don’t think defunding police is such a good idea. I might tell them some other things too, I’m voting for neither…

There is an excellent article with an interview with former NYC Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik.
    https://www.kusi.com/retired-nypd-commissioner-bernard-kerik-warns-public-black-lives-matter-fundraising-is-run-by-a-terrorist/

This article and the interview is an expose on BLM and it’s desire to see our Police Departments defunded or having their funding cut.

All I can say is that it looks like BLM and Antifa are both aiming to have a marxist overthrow of the United States.

BTW- Has anyone noticed that there is a distinct similarity between the BLM raised arm with a clenched fist and another similar salute with a raised arm and an open hand that was adopted back in the 1930’s to signify an allegiance to a rather odd man with a funny little mustache?

    Just saying!

Leftists – “We need to defund the the police, empty the jails, and enact restorative justice.”
Also Leftists – “Oopsie! It seems our ghetto pets are shooting the place up. Clearly we need to attack the rights of the average citizen”

At first glance, this may seem like simple idiocy. However, it’s actually somewhat clever. They reframe the problem so that it’s not the result of their policies allowing violent morons to roam free, but of average citizens having too many liberties. This shifts the cost of crime from a client group (minority criminals) and places it on an adversary (conservative gun owners).

This also works to maximize social disorder and undermine society. Remember, these people think America is fascist and evil. Enabling the criminals and disempowering the citizenry is one part of tearing it all down. They want people demoralized, powerless, and dependent on the state.

Awww, did they hurt his widdle feelings? He may have some pull in Madison (small fish in small pond) but our beautiful Constitution guarantees every American the right to speak freely. So if Tag Evers doesn’t like what we have to say, that’s on HIM, not us.

Liberals claim to be fighting intolerance and fascism but in my experience are the most intolerant and the biggest fascists.

DEFUND?! YES, It is time to DEFUND Public “Schools”
SUE the schools, unions & teachers for FRAUD and taking money under false pretences.
We are getting a full on display of the Liberal Educator concept of “DIVERSITY, INCLUSION, and TOLERANCE” Burning cities are their vision of the future.
For decades the Nation’s teachers have been infusing false concepts of entitlement, oppression, as we see in Minneapolis, Seattle and Portland today. Teachers have been attacking the self-image, self-esteem of their White pupils with the Racist Hate message of mythical White privilege”. Teachers have rabidly attacked the foundations of the Nation to sooth their “Daddy issues”.
Gov. Gretchen Whitless has agreed to a settlement in a case, which sought a historic court order ruling students have a constitutional right to literacy. You do NOT have a “right” to literacy. That is S-T-U-P-I-D. You have to LEARN to read and write ….. you RETARDS.
Well these teacher’s unions have been quietly stuffing their pockets with overly LIBERAL pensions and benefits at the expense of the oppressed People of Color. Therefore in the spirit of Equality and Reparations which the teachers haveLIBERALLY preached for so long it is only proper that 75% of those FAT pensions be LIBERALLY distributed to the Elderly People of Color who were denied the opportunities the privileged teachers milked for all they could.
Stop the RACISM? Equalize the retirements.
The “Graduates” of American education should be suing their teachers and school administrators for fraud and MISeducation.
They DEMAND raises for their FINE work:
    https://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/terence-p-jeffrey/65-public-school-8th-graders-not-proficient-reading-67-not-proficient
Amazing— they choose Communist RED as their color — A wave of red-clad teachers …
The end result of their Great Teaching was on parade this weekend across America . ….. Monuments torn down and cities aflame as EXTREMIST VIOLENCE is everywhere.
They Really deserve raises — ‘I was a teacher for 17 years, but I couldn’t read or write’ http://www.bbc.com/news/stories-43700153 and the teachers just “moved him on”
Teacher pay raises HELL! Give the Taxpayers a REFUND. The little idiots cannot read or write, and have NO concept of the Constitution, Law, History. ………..The Teacher Unions should be paying DAMAGES to the Kids and America —- A Third Of Millennials Aren’t Sure The Earth Is Round, Survey Finds http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2018/04/05/…-flat-earth-survey/
take their HUGE pensions and use it to actually educate the kids.
The same “teachers” who taught nothing about economics taught nothing about history or the Constitution …. what they DO teach is “Be PROUD of being stupid and knowing squat …… history is BOOOORING” So the Kids learn nothing about the Bolshevik Holodomor and 66 Million dead Christians.
Teachers whine about how “hard” they work but FAKEucators taught the children nothing about Economics, History, or the US Constitution. But they DO teach SOCIALISM so they should LIVE it.

Put the money in the hands of the parents and let them decide where to send their children. Opening schools vs. not opening. Masks vs. no-masks would be a non-issue in such a system. Parents would send their kids to the schools whose health policy matches their own wishes. Some would opt for distance learning. Others would go with schools providing in-class instruction.
