Trump strikes a blow against identity politics, life blood of the Left

Plus Denmark goes all-Trump and
Madison teachers pay a pittance for their health insurance

What have we been saying? The Left’s obsession with identity politics is killing American education.

So, good news today. The Trump administration is lifting the Obama policy that that called on universities to consider race as a factor in diversifying their campuses, the New York Times reports.

rachel-dolezal

Identify my identity!

“The Supreme Court has steadily narrowed the ways that schools can consider race when trying to diversify their student bodies. But it has not banned the practice.”

A highly anticipated case is pitting Harvard against Asian-American students who say one of the nation’s most prestigious institutions has systematically excluded some Asian-American applicants to maintain slots for students of other races. That case is clearly aimed at the Supreme Court.

This will drive our liberal-progressive-socialist acquaintances barking mad. It is one more deliverable from Donald Trump. The President and Betsy DeVos need to go the full nine yards and cease asking for and refuse to accept race-based data in education, crime, and other fields — including the next census. Wisconsin should do the same.

You are now in Denmark, not Raqqa

Add Germany to the growing list of European countries going all Trump on immigration. Angela Merkel is being forced to take a hard line to save her ruling coalition. Even Denmark, valhalla to Bernie Sanders’ socialists, is introducing laws to regulate life in 25 low-income and heavily Muslim areas, saying that if families don’t willingly adapt to Danish culture, they should be compelled to.

Children from neighborhoods that the government describes as “ghettos” will receive mandatory instruction in “Danish values,” including the traditions of Christmas and Easter, and in the Danish language. Noncompliance could result in an end to welfare payments.

Back in the day at Sun Prairie high school,  we called it “Civics.”

Madison teachers get special treatment

Statewide, public school teachers pay an average 12% of their health insurance premiums, as suggested by Act 10. Not in Madison, where teachers pay only 3%. Tells you what you need to know about all those referenda on blowing the doors off state spending restraints.

Sun Prairie teachers pay 18%, Edgerton 17%, Deerfield 16%, New Glarus & Waunakee 15% and virtually everyone else 12% except Stoughton, Waterloo, and Belleville 10%. Oh, and Jeff Simpson’s Monona Grove, 5%.

Put in real dollars, the average Madison teacher pays $41.35 a month for the family plan compared to $181.10 for teachers in the Middleton-Cross Plains school district, who pay 12%. On an annual basis: $496 for the Madison teacher; $2,173 for the Middleton teacher.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Real diversity is not race or even ethnicity but in the flowering of competing ideas. Under Obama, the racial divide grew worse, not better.

Europe seems to be awakening to the folly of their immigration policies and to the sad fact that simply re-imagining your country as some kind of multi-cultural theme park (think Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood but for adults) doesn’t mean reality will oblige. Some years ago, Prince Charles got into hot water by claiming that modern architecture had done what the Blitz hadn’t been able to do: destroy London. (Having seen some of the modernist monstrosities that currently blight the skyline of that city, it’s clear he was right.) Today the stakes are much higher. Thanks to policies promulgated by the effete globalists in Brussels, hordes of illegal aliens flood in from countries that do not recognize or are, in many cases, overtly hostile to European values and traditions. It’s these same values and traditions that have shaped our own culture socially, politically, artistically, culturally. Yes, aggravating as it is to some, the US owes a huge debt to white European culture and will continue to do so despite the desperate flailings from the far left who seek to use identity politics to promote their toxic brew of socialist-totalitarian ideology. There’s still plenty of time before the mid-term elections for the left to keep alienating voters (and, one hopes, tear itself to pieces); if they maintain their current pace, supporters of the President can be assured of another victory–one that might even surpass that of 2016.

If they want sympathy. it can be found between sh!t and syphilis in the dictionary.Glad I moved out of the emerald city. The value of my house there has stayed relatively flat for the last 5yrs while the property taxes have gone up 600.00 a yr not including the 82.00 increase from this yrs school board budget and whatever hizzoner tacks on. Meanwhile my new place has stayed relatively flat in value and my taxes are up less than 50.00 a year for the same time period. Huh!

Identity politics? Ask @AnonyBob is our resident expert; real minorities in the ‘Murica he wants to push have brown skin.

Asians? Welp, they just got too much goin’ for them to worry ’bout their skin being the wrong color, am I right?

And as an self-employed Independent Contractor, I’m…um…allowed to pay 100% of my health insurance…and my disability coverage.

Oddly enough, that same % applies to funding my retirement.

Mercifully, I get a break on the Social Security/Medicare tax; I only have to pay twice as much as employed people.

Hey; think that’s reason enough for me to head on down to the Capitol for a nooner of singalonging with the aptly dubbed Rotundas in the Key of Me (H/T @Norwood44)?

Remember when Asian-Americans used to be called the “model minority”? They still are though I haven’t seen that phrase for a while. (The lefties must have declared it RAY-CIST! despite the fact that it’s obviously complimentary.) They don’t constantly whine about being oppressed by the white patriarchy, they don’t demand special privileges, they don’t commit crimes far out of proportion to their percentage of the population, they overcome obstacles of language and economic deprivation by hard work, they value education and see to it that their children do too, they don’t point to historical events as scapegoats for bad behavior, and above all they don’t portray themselves as victims at every turn. No wonder the left is conflicted about them; they demonstrate that ANY minority can succeed in this country if they adopt certain values and obey certain rules–an inconvenient truth that undermines the very foundation of identity politics.

Self employed independent contractor. Funny. That means a load of BS. Your a self-employed pud puller who is trying to write off every plastic glove and jug of pud grease you buy. You can’t be contracting much; your online all the time. “Asians? am I right”? NO Your wrong. Don’t like my answer? Prove me wrong. State some facts. You don’t like funding your healthcare, disability retirement? Then get a job like the rest of us. trump is having a gop job-fair in DC. You keep telling us how smart you are; go there and apply. If your losing your ass as an “independent contractor” then find a better accountant. But; I’m sure someone as smart as you doesn’t need one.

Asians don’t play the Victimhoodie card and thus can’t/won’t be manipulated by Lefty INC.

And I don’t need a job, contrast that with the fact that you don’t want one. Good thing, the employers I know generally don’t want gelatinous slugs like youse stealing a paycheck every two weeks.

I made the conscious choice early on that I’d determine how much I’m worth, not someone else. That experience has forged an ability to determine how much youse are worth as well:

If racial groups ARE, in fact, equal, then Affirmative Discrimination is not needed. However, if racial groups are NOT equal, a host of troubling questions arise.

For civic purposes, the 14th Amenment’s application should be color-blind and race-blind. It certainly is for college BBall and FBall………as it is for teams in the NFL and NBA. There is NO necessary or rational assumption that validates equal representation of anything/everything. College admission and financial aid should be based on merit, not gender, race, nationality, blood quantum, geography, or tribal association. Any other system is institutionalized BIGOTRY.

On this issue, Trump’s Administration has taken a stand for fairness and justice.

Deep down being subsidized is personally shameful but quite difficult to escape, not unlike an addiction. These folks understand a subsidized life is humiliating but also allows for a continuation of a drug addicted life style which is a huge component of free money. A self-defeating cycle that is tough to escape especially considering a lot of these people are drug addicts. Not something very many people have the courage to address publicly.
Another broken Federal/State policy with good intentions but instead does quite the opposite. Taxpayer money is better spent assisting the rehabilitation of broken cultures that begins with an emphasis on incentives to restore the nuclear family.
