Former mayor Dave Cieslewicz:“There is very little diversity of experience and almost none in perspective on this [Madison school] board. There is, for example, not one school board member who is an employer and who might be concerned about the quality of the work force. There is no school board member who is an advocate for taxpayers or who might be considered a fiscal watch dog. There is no proponent of personal responsibility and not one who would dare question the latest fad coming out of schools of education. … Why shouldn’t at least a couple of the seven members take a different point of view?”Three of the seven school board members’s seat are up for election next April: Ali Muldrow, Ananda Mirilli, and Cris Carusi.

The Waunakee WI school board is dissolving its diversity, equity and inclusion committee amid concerns that the 25-member group lacked “diversity of thought” and adequate oversight by elected officials. (More here.)

David Shor started modeling elections in 2008, when he was a 20-something blogger, and he proved good at it. … Now he’s scared. … “We’re screwed in the Senate,” he told me. Only he didn’t use the word screwed. … Shor’s model suggests they’ll lose a seat, and so the Senate. But it’s 2024 where things get very grim for them. … Shor’s model predicts they’ll lose seven seats.
