… pro-crime, anti-school reform, pro-DEI, anti-Voter I.D.!
(But show I.D. for admission to their own events)
Madison’s bubble boy never met a conservative he’s never met. The publisher of The Capital Times trashes Republicans for doing what a good newspaper should do, which is to hold the powerful accountable. Who wields more power in Madison WI than the University of Wisconsin, the Democrat(ic) party, and the teachers union? (Throw in the bicycle lobby for good measure.)

Publisher Paul Fanlund manages to blame Donald Trump and Republican state legislators for the University’s abject mismanagement:
The absolute control of the Legislature led to years of the GOP caricaturing UW as poorly run and infested with liberals.
But the UW is poorly run. It IS infested with liberals. In 960 words, Fanlund devotes not one to the UW’s diversity, equity, and inclusion scandal. The DEI vice chancellor’s $364,207 salary, the taxpayer-paid junkets to Hawaii, the beanie caps for favored students. Democrats fought the audit that exposed their Woke scam.
Publisher Fanlund writes “UW-Madison voices seem muted in the Trump era.” That’s what happens when you’ve been found out, and we found out.
Crooked and dangerous
Same with state schools superintendent Jill Underly. Cooked the books to hide the cratering student test scores under her watch and that of her predecessor, Tony Evers. Republican legislators want to return accountability so that our student achievement can be tracked to national standards. Every single Democrat voted against it (the Senate vote here); their governor, Tony Evers, vows to veto. Jill Underly is backed by the teachers union and the Democrat(ic) party. Opposed to honest accounting; opposed to alternatives to failing public schools.
Republican legislators want sheriffs to report dangerous criminals — and only the dangerous ones — already in their county jails to federal Immigration authorities. (Assembly Bill 24) Democrats are opposed, says State Rep. Greta Neubauer, D-Racine, because “Republicans … are not serious about addressing the kitchen-table issues affecting Wisconsin families.” Only a Democrat could argue that safe neighborhoods are not a kitchen-table issue. Gov. “Inseminated Person” promises to veto.

Democrats want voters to reject a state constitutional amendment to require Voter I.D. Every one of them voted against it on the floor of the Assembly.
Ask a Democrat why they require an I.D. to attend their so-called “Peoples’ Town Hall” with their veep candidate Tim Walz and party chairman Ben Wikler up in Eau Claire this May. Yeah, Voter I.D. is already law, but a liberal supreme court can overturn statute (as Susan Crawford has pledged to do). Can’t overturn the constitution. And the governor cannot veto a constitutional amendment.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Democrats want to weed out unWoke Republicans to their invitation-only “town halls” because Democrats organized the disruption of real congressional town halls here in Wisconsin and elsewhere. They don’t want payback — even at the price of hypocrisy.

Fanlund’s priorities are out of whack.
He should be spending every waking minute on keeping the poors out of his neighborhood.
C’mon Paul you got this!
Great article….
Somehow the Wisconsin State Journal political cartoon on the opinion page today was about the UW’s DEI head throwing money around . I’ll give them a little credit for publishing that.
Cartoonist Phil Hands has some bite to him. Rest of editorial page afraid of its own shadow.
Both newspapers are very much dead now. Circulation is at record lows. State journal decided to say same anti mega like the Capital Times trash weekly. They did it to themselves.
Between the newspapers and online media I now read the bylines first. Anything written by the AP is always questioned if it is worth my time reading.
Fanlund is the perfect stooge/apologist for UW-Madison, and his blinkered assessment of how it’s run is typical of all Madison liberals. I hope Elon & Co. turns the full force of its anti-woke fury on UW-Madison and every other public university where wokeism has ruled from even before the term was coined. If UW-Madison wants to make up for the funds it’s bound to lose under the Trump regime, I suggest it cancel all its Grievance Studies programs and fire the overpaid profs and administrators whose sole job it is to keep them going. If they did, they’d be rolling in dough.
You want to see Musk, for whom nobody voted and is someone who has no real authority over states, control the UW system, Gary?
But if Brad Schimel wins a seat on the WI Supreme Court, you might see Elon Musk gain influence over the whole state of Wisconsin.
Careful what you wish for. I want Musk and his armed DOGE thugs to stay the hell out of our state.
I want Musk to control my tax dollars. He’s a helluva better steward than the crew at UW (who I didn’t vote for).
You have Dementia Don and the Muskavite in charge and now you can’t get a weather report or sign up for a campsite at a national park. And you all think this is all great. maybe you can learn to land your own planes too. Am I right?
Mr Anonymous, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent comment were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this chat is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
I guess Anonymous failed to listen to my advice and step out of their progressive bubble. That’s ok, though, they symbolize why Progressivism is dying.
Let us not interfere while the Progressives are screwing up by the numbers. A year ago they were mandating electric vehicles now they torch them. If Tampon Tim Walz is there draw…
Once Dementia Don closes the Dept of ED and cuts all funding You won’t have to worry about the UW. It will be a shadow of itself. You will be sitting around rubbing your pet rock wondering where all the people went with their money. Look at the bright side. you won’t have a problem getting parking at Camp Randel.
[…] Every Democrat but one in the WI State Assembly voted to keep biological boys on the girls’ swim team (AB 100) and men in the women’s locker room (AB 102). Democrats voted in favor of sex change operations for kids (AB 104). This is after Democrats voted against requiring sheriffs to report dangerous criminals already in their jails to Immigration. Democrats have been busy! Also voted against Voter I.D. and against accurately reporting K-12 school achievement. (Recounted here.) […]
