It’s official. Wisconsin Democrats are more Woke than the governor of California, Gavin Newsom.
Every Democrat but one in the WI State Assembly voted to keep biological boys on the girls’ swim team (AB 100) and men in the women’s locker room (AB 102). Democrats voted in favor of sex change operations for kids (AB 104). Democrats have been busy.
Democrats voted against requiring sheriffs to report dangerous criminals already in their jails to Immigration. Also voted against Voter I.D. and against accurately reporting K-12 school achievement. (Recounted here.)
Wisconsin Democrats are being played by Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos like a fidget spinner. Wisconsin progressives refuse to follow California Gov. Newsom off the crazy train. They’d rather trash Teslas.
Newsom agreed that the most politically destructive attack ads from Trump’s campaign featured Kamala Harris’ support for providing taxpayer-funded, gender transition-related medical care for detained immigrants and federal prisoners. — as reported in Politico

When even Gavin Newsom breaks camp, you’re pretty much alone in the political wilderness. A national Marquette U. Law School poll released in February found that 63% of respondents recognize only two sexes, male and female. Asked about deporting illegal immigrants, 60% favored, 40% opposed.
Marquette‘s March poll found 77% support Voter ID in general and 73% support the constitutional amendment here in Wisconsin. No, Voter I.D. does not discourage voting. “Despite a national decline in voter turnout in 2024, it grew in Wisconsin to 72.8% of adults [from 69.6% in 2012). Turnout was probably highest in Wisconsin out of all 50 states, whether measured as a share of all adults or voting-eligible adults,” says Marquette Law School’s John Johnson.
“Some commentators have insisted the Democrats’ defeat had nothing to do with ‘wokeness.’ That is a fatal misreading,” political analyst John Judis observes.
The Democratic makeover must start with the panoply of cultural and socio-economic stands that Republicans were able to use in 2024 to discredit Democratic candidates. These include the Democrats’ positions on immigration, sex and gender, affirmative action, criminal justice, and climate change. …

How do you manage to keep your sanity in the maelstrom of crazy that is the political landscape in WI? You are definitely made of sturdier stuff than I! I have been watching Gavin, (hard to do without wanting to scratch my eyes out). He sees the writing on the wall, and is inching toward jumping ship a little. (Not that I’m convinced he is in any way sincere.). But no matter how hard I try to put my brain through gymnastics (with or without some 6 foot bloke in my locker room), I cannot fathom why this is a hill so many would choose to die on.
Let’s hope that WI Dems keep drinking the woke Kool-Aid. The more out of step with mainstream voters they continue to be, the greater their likelihood of defeat. A note of dissent, or maybe just adding a little historical “context” (fraught term) to the statistics that show 63% of Wisconsinites recognize two sexes and 60% favor the deportation of illegal aliens: I don’t think you’d have to go too far back in the mists of time to find that the margin was much closer to 100% in both cases. That those statistics have eroded as far as they have is testimony to the cultural rot for which Democrats deserve credit.
Hell hath no fury like Progressives made scared and angry enough to be this self righteous. Every day for ten years now they have set their hair on fire over the outrage du jour.

The food bank where I volunteer gives them out for free, though there’s a limit of one dozen per client. Some of them are even the very pricey organic, free range variety.
