His honeymoon is over before it started.
Wisconsin just elected a dishonest double dealer as its governor. David Crowley put up a Milwaukee County budget with a $4.56 million shortfall, knew about it two weeks before his election last week, and didn’t disclose the sleight of hand to his own county supervisors — or voters statewide — until the day after his election as governor.
“Disturbing. Inappropriate. A loss of trust.” That’s the lead sentence of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel quoting county supervisor outrage. His budget director said “Crowley’s office” was informed of the discrepancy on October 20.
“This budget error is a major problem but the loss of trust here is much worse.” — County Supervisor Shawn Rolland, who said he only learned about the error through the news media.
Crowley hired his budget director out of the Milwaukee public school district. That’s like casting for walleyes out of an EPA Superfund site. Just last winter, Milwaukee schools over-spent its budget by $46 million. Two summers ago, Milwaukee’s school district superintendent quit after missing financial reporting deadlines. When he did get around to it, he submitted bad numbers. The state penalized the district by withholding $42 million in state aid.

The irony is that governor-elect Crowley vaulted into his party’s nomination after Sarah Rodriguez, the sitting lieutenant governor and the favorite of Democrat convention delegates, revealed that her campaign finance reports were more fraudulent than a Nigerian prince’s e-mail.
Did we say Republicans would find their spines? RoJo accuses Trump of corruption! Now HE tells us!
More public school dysfunction
Can’t Sun Prairie’s school district wean itself off Woke? Its latest district superintendent, Antoine Reed, we now learn, lacked the statutorily required license when he was hired in May 2026, didn’t have one when he began the job on July 1, and was denied certification after his belated application October 7.
This latest face plant fortifies those who argue that DEI informs the SP district’s incompetent affirmative action hires.
A year ago, criminal charges were brought against the dean of students at SP West high school for sexually exploiting an under-age student and 13 counts of possession of child pornography — all felonies. He didn’t even have a teachers’s license when he was named dean. Robert Gilkey-Meisegeier was sentenced to 18 years in prison. The Principal of SP West lost her job and copped a plea in exchange for a deferred prosecution deal. The sitting district superintendent went back to his old job in a smaller district.
On top of previous Woke follies.
During an August 2024 staff convocation, the principal of Sun Prairie’s other high school, SP East, “mocked students, referring to some as “b**ch” and “a r**ard.” (“Woke is what broke SP schools.“) Coleman was also accused of repeatedly misgendering a teacher. (Shudder!) A Milwaukee law firm hired by the district to investigate found that `Principal Coleman stated that “she could not be fired because she is black.”
Goodbye yellow brick road
The New York Times reports that Democrats in the WI state legislature will re-introduce legislation forcing Wisconsin to cast the state’s electoral votes in a presidential election for the winner of the national popular vote regardless of who wins the statewide vote. Sens. Robert Wirch (D-Kenosha) and Kelda Roys (D-Madison) are among them. It’s called the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. Already, 18 states accounting for 222 electoral votes have signed on. Needs 270 to become law. (Wisconsin has 10.)
Blaska’s Bottom Lines: Francesca Hong’s Democratic Socialists want to abolish the Electoral College. This would do the same thing. It means Wisconsin voters could choose Marco Rubio for President but the state would cast its electoral votes for A.O.C. if that’s what New York and California wanted. Maybe Wisconsin Democrats are tired of presidential candidates visiting our county fairs.
As for David Crowley, who will audit the new governor? Not the Democrat(ic) legislature, not the Democrat(ic) treasurer, not the Democrat(ic) attorney general, not the Democrat-leaning state supreme court.
We predicted Democrats would foul their own nest given time. Never guessed this soon!
