Mayor Satya or the police monitor?
What does it tell you that applicants aspiring for appointment to the vacant District One aldermanic seat here in Madison WI must prove their Woke bonafides before they can join the club?
Five candidates are vying to fill out the term of the departed John Duncan. They get 5 minutes to answer each of four questions. Here is Question #2:
Please describe the ways you practice and demonstrate equity and inclusion and how you would model these practices in this interim appointment. Please provide an example of measures you have taken to further your knowledge of equity, inclusion, and racial justice.
Blaska would have gibbered in tongues while brandishing a Christian cross and a sprig of garlic. But you do you.
Just another way the City of Madison enforces the progressive groupthink that deifies a chronic criminal resisting arrest. Again. Francesca Hong could pass the Council’s final exam; we doubt Paul Soglin could, these days.
Which is one reason Madison is in the mess we’re in. The anarchists were at it again yesterday and early this morning, confronting police on the State Street side of Capitol Square and on E. Washington Avenue, opposite. MPD pepper prayed protesters and arrested three. Freedom Inc. claims two of its leaders were among them: Zon Moua and Hope Vang. We call that “a start.”
Once again, the City cannot secure its own city hall. The Council is meeting virtuially Monday 08-24-26 at 5 p.m. to determine what the hell happened when the City cleared out the Corey Ruiz squatters village at the intersection of Willy and Baldwin Streets 08-04-26. It’s being called “a briefing.” We have to wonder whether the probe will degrade into a Stalinist show trial — verdict first, testimony later. Much sloganeering and posing for holy pictures with the Reverend Al.
In any event, there will be no public comment. (It’s live-streamed on the Madison City Channel, on YouTube, and Spectrum cable 994.)
→ We think Francesca Hong runs for mayor, even though the state rep. stood behind Mayor Satya at her re-election announcement.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Take a knee, confess your privilege, blame the cops — there is no way to placate Freedom Inc., BLM, and Hong’s socialists and still run an actual working city (as opposed to an autonomous zone). We’re guessing at least half the alders will condemn Mayor Satya for restoring order while exonerating the independent police monitor who vowed to “Burn Down This F-ing City.”
