Is Justice Bradley the canary in the coal mine?

While Democrats double down on stupid!

Is Micah Parsons the second coming of Reggie White? Creating almost as many shockwaves as the Packers signing the mega-millions edge rusher away from the Cowboys is the retirement announced Friday 08-29-25 on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Conservative jurist Rebecca Bradley will not seek another term — a gut punch to Republicans. Her fundraising might have been a clue — she had done none. Meanwhile the Madison Democrat running for the job (formerly employed by the abortion industry) has already raised a million $$$.

Given that the court is already 4 to 3 liberal, who can blame Justice Bradley? No fun being in the minority. Problem is, she could have won. Rebecca Bradley had not aged out; she’s only 54. The men the Republican party put up keep losing to women by double digits. And she’s an incumbent.

Most tantalizingly, the jurist took this swipe at her own tribe:

“The conservative movement needs to take stock of its failures, identify the problems, and fix them.”

Her oblique pronouncement (its entirety) has taken on the inscrutability of an oriental koan. Interpretations abound. Theories are expounded. Fingers are pointed. Scapegoats sought.

Is this a poke at party leadership? As if hit by a rock, the wasp nest of Robin Vos haters targeted their stingers at the successful Republican Speaker. One Sol Rosenburg bleated: “Robin Vos merely calls himself a Republican. … Vos says that corrupt elections are fair.”

The Stolen Election myth continues to divide Republicans. (Someday, maybe, President Trump will find actual proof!) FWIW: Justice Bradley voted to uphold challenges to the 2020 election but did not prevail on a close vote.

 Let’s put up signs!

In the last thrilling episode, we made the case that schools should arm well vetted faculty to counter mass shooters. Gun bans do nothing more than assure the crazies it’s open season. Like a sign and a statute are going to deter a nut case!

Along comes Madison progressive Kelda Roys to extend that wishful thinking. She would ban the concealment of firearms on college campuses! Hear that, crazed misfit shooter! (More here.) Without airport-level security, bans on firearms are performative — nothing more. And how many empty-your-pockets checkpoints would be required on a sprawling campus like UW-Madison?

Senate Bill 167, sponsored by Senators Nass and Tomczyk and eight Assembly Republicans, would permit school personnel to bear arms if authorized by the school district. Bill has been languishing in committee since April.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: The Republican legislature could pass SB 167 but the Democrat(ic) governor will veto. Tony Evers would sign Kelda Roys’ bill but stands no chance in Robin Vos’ legislature. BTW: Kelda Roys is (unofficially) running for governor.

By leaving the court, Rebecca Bradley said she is better positioned to “rebuild the conservative movement.”

How would YOU do that?

In saying she can contribute more to the conservative movement by not being a minority member of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Justice Bradley is simply signaling her willingness to take an appointment to the federal bench.

Not after leaving Republicans high and dry.

Why the bombs complaint? The people in Gaza have no food, water, power, homes; nothing. So, you want to give Isreal all this ammo to do what? To bomb what they turned into rubble already? If all you want is to bomb the same thing over and over, then tell them to pay for it. BIBI is just as bad as any Hamas terrorist.

No. YOU are just as bad as any Hamas/Hezbollah/Houthi/Iranian-sponsored terrorist who hides behind and under civilians in order to get the fools of the world to sympathize with their terrible plight, so they can then re-visit Oct 6 terror on a country that accepts Arabs in its midst, government, schools, etc. YOU are the fool they are looking for…..

        Your rant is indecipherable, Steve.

I understood Steve just fine. And he’s right.

Tough to get food and supplies to civilians when the gangster government that they voted in takes most of it for themselves. Tough to feel sorry for that same government after they slaughtered 1200 Israelis in a sneak attack with acts of barbarism reserved for medieval times. Tough to support a gang of backward thugs that wants rule by caliphate and Islamic world domination by conquest. Tough to forget that the Palestinians threw candy and danced in the streets on 9-11 while Israel mourned with us, although I still hope for eventual peace after the jihadists get stomped out.
