Expel the clowns!
God Bless and hold in his heart police chief Shon Barnes! Madison’s public schools should, indeed, reinstate school resource police officers in its four troubled high schools! We’ve argued they should go a step further and assign SROs to the middle schools, at least part-time.
Chief Barnes sounded the alarm after officers in Georgia acted swiftly to minimize casualties in a school shooting.
Don’t get excited. It’s not going to happen. There is zero political will to buck the crazies in a town that exiled a 42-ton boulder accused of racism. Bullies enabled by taxpayer-funded Freedom Inc. disrupted school board meetings in the lead-up to expel police resource officers with their organized chants and banners. They doxed political opponents. (Yes, Blaska summoned the police.) They F-bombed the front lawns of elected officials late at night. They vandalized school buildings with obscene graffiti. We do not recall a single arrest other than that of a large woman who smashed a citizen’s smart phone at one meeting. The perp never paid the fine from an ordinance violation, much less compensated the citizen for her damaged property.

The district fought police
Towards the close of the last school year, police arrested an 18-year-old student (a frequent flier) carrying a Glock 9 mm handgun, two magazines with rounds in them, a scale, and an empty marijuana bag at La Follette high school. School employees designated as “safety officers” tried to shield this menace from the police! As police led the perp away after his 05-07-24 arrest, the (in)security assistants whined to the beleaguered principal, “We’re supposed to protect kids here.” From the police, they meant. (Yes, race is involved on both ends.) (Read & Weep)
Never occurs to this city’s Kamala Harris voters that the kids most in need of school resource police officers, themselves mostly women and/or minority race, are disadvantaged minorities — both as regulators and as role models.

Surrender, Dorothy!
The Chamber of Commerce disappeared off the radar screen long ago. The Dane County Democrat(ic) party is complicit. The mayor is silent. Our daily newspaper endorses for election whomever is most Woke-ier. Endorsed the candidate who said “Our schools are products of white supremacy.” Which is why the Werkes puts its dwindling faith into parental school choice. Like Eric Burdon sang, “We gotta get out of this place.”
Which parents are doing. How else does a school district in the fastest-growing city (by absolute numbers) lose students?
Blaska’s Bottom Line: It is possible that voters will rebuke the Madison Board of Education for its follies by turning down its referenda for a combined $607 million in additional spending on November 5. But cop hatred is baked into the DNA of this school board. The teachers union, Progressive Dane, most of the alders, and The Capital Times are Defund the Police. Mark this well: No common sense candidate — much less one of high profile — will challenge the dysfunctional status quo in next Spring’s school board elections. We’d love to be wrong but experience is a cruel teacher.

REAP WHAT YOU SOW LIB SH$%SHOW!!
HILARIOUS WATCHING THEM DESTROY THEIR OWN! SO RICHLY DESERVED!!
Very well said!
It’s hard to find any” common sense candidate ” to even run for any elected office in Dane County. Why spend the time, money and personal attacks on something you have no chance of winning.
Isn’t there a member of the domestic terrorism outfit Freedom Inc. on the ballot for County Executive? That’s all you need to know. 82% of Dane County voted for the Supreme court candidate that pledged to allow babies to be killed. 2 years before the vote was 78% for the Comrade Party in Dane County. The Republican Party of Dane County is nothing short of a scam. The head honcho is nothing more than a side show midget that wants your contact info to beg for $$. They do nothing because there’s nothing they can do.
well, since the georgia kid was white, you would think the dei people of color would want to be protected by someone with a gun…
There is hope. I have left-leaning friends and family in Madison with young kids who are looking for ways to keep them out of MMSD. People who have something to protect will eventually vote to protect it if things get bad enough, whether by feet or by ballot.
“Would you support Dave Cieslewicz for Madison school board?”
Short answer: Yes
Long Answer: HELL YES!
The Gotch
No. “Progressive Lite” is not going to fix this.
When and if it comes, it will be a sea change. It will be organized, likely a group of pissed off Mama bears.
“When and if it comes, it will be a sea change.”
Yup; even those outside Iron County know what happens when you f**k with Mama Bear.
The biggest concerns of the ones going up against her, et al?
Pronouns, which bathroom to use, chix with d!x, myn who…um…birth/lactate/menstruate, and which new weirdo fringe group of misfit, purple-haired, sloppy phat, tatted, pierced SOCIAL ODDITYto embrace as privileged/protected, and, you know, like…normal.
The Gotch
Agree. Mayor Dave, like Bill Maher, are shameless opportunists like most progressives.
