Will Democrats come to Kamala?

We wrote nine months ago — on 11-06-23 (a date that will LIVE … ) — that Democrats would dump Biden. It was never the senescence. Not for Democrats. They renominated FDR for a fourth term knowing he was a dead man walking. But the man could still win! Sure, Uncle Joe’s diminished cognition was the precipitating factor for today’s announcement that he is OUT in a rundown! But that was — or should have been — obvious for a long time. The 06-27-24 CNN debate pulled aside the curtain with which his handlers and the party had shielded the truth of his disability from voters. Only confirmed voters’ suspicions. If the President’s unfitness to serve mattered, they would have pulled him long ago. It was the polls what done him in.

Uncle Joe was never any Democrat’s first choice. His entire raison d’etre was that he could beat Trump. Until he couldn’t. Say this for our Democrat(ic) adversaries, they don’t do nostalgia. Loyalty is for losers. — The Head Groundskeeper, “Dems will dump Biden” 11-06-23

If God worked in mysterious ways to save Trump from an assassin’s bullet, then give The Almighty credit and not Biden’s handlers for mistakenly scheduling that debate the earliest ever on a presidential campaign calendar. You want hubris? They wanted to reset the debate! Maybe his inner circle was too close to the man to recognize his infirmity. Imagine if the two candidates had not squared off until September 29, the date the same two debated four years ago!

 Republicans will overreach

They will demand the President hook up the U-Haul immediately, making Kamala the President. Big mistake! Do they really want to grant Kamala incumbency? He won’t resign in any event. Will anyone challenge Biden’s chosen heir? Under the 22nd Amendment, she is eligible to serve another two full terms. Can her party’s supposedly deep bench wait 8½ more years? Are Gavin and Gretchen, Andy and Amy getting any younger? Won’t Republicans feast on the Wokest candidate this side of A.O.C.? Does Joe Manchin make his play? Will the party turn to Michelle Obama and promise Kamala the next Supreme Court vacancy? (Mary Hartman! Mary Hartman!)

Joe was, indeed, held hostage by his party’s insufferable progressives but he presented as a blue-collar boy from Scranton PA, drove a Vette, was tempered by personal tragedy. Kamala Harris cannot pull off that political trompe l’oeil. Fairly or not, she will be viewed — unlike Barack Obama — as an affirmative action hire. Biden did that, by promising to check two boxes: black and female, not the most qualified.

Now comes the horse race handicapping: Who’s her veep? Imagine (if you will) if the party picked Adam Kinzinger! Hates Trump enough he might do it. Would it attract Trump defectors? (Not Blaska!) Despite what others may say, the Republican party is NOT unified. The Milwaukee convention, yes, but not the entire party. The Bushes, the Cheneys, Mike Pence, Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Mike Gallagher, Chris Christie — they’re only the biggest names in a politically homeless population rivaling Gaza.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Reparations, men in the girls’ locker room, DEI, forgiving college debt, California-style crime and homelessness, banning gas stoves, cost of living — Republicans will stick those issues on Ms. Harris like poppycock on a cow’s tail. They will remind America that Kamala Harris was Joe Biden’s appointed border czar.
