Can Dane County tolerate 8 dissenters out of 37?
It was his greatest achievement as chairman of the Dane County Democrat(ic) Party, Wayne Bigelow boasted back then: defeating David Blaska for re-election to the Dane County Board of Supervisors. Must have been a slow year.

In the 18 years since, Madison progressives have extirpated all but two holdouts. One of them is Dave Ripp, who is retiring after 40 years representing his Springfield Town district west of Middleton. The other is Jeff Weigand, representing the Marshall-Sun Prairie area. Jeff is running for a third term and the party apparatus has unsheathed its long knives.
Democrats have opened their checkbooks for his opponent, Andrea Andrews. Their candidate jabbers like a Freedom Inc. social justice warrior about public safety:
“Allocate resources … mandatory training for law enforcement on cultural sensitivity, de-escalation … end implicit bias to reduce racial profiling … systemic … bail reform, diversion … disproportionate impacts …” — Andrea Andrews.

That kind of Woke talk earned Ms. Andrews the endorsement of Madison’s Defund the Police-advocate, The Capital Times, “for a progressive Dane County Board.” But county government has been progressive lo these 20 years!
Progressivism gave Dane County two decades of dithering that bid up the cost of an overdue jail expansion to $207 million from the originally bid $148 million. Progressives are spending $1.16 million a year on something called an “Office of Justice Reform.” That’s on top of an Office of Equity & Inclusion! They showered county employees with two more paid holidays. Threw a million dollars at Madison’s “food market” boondoggle. Bid up property taxes by 14 percent. Criminally prosecutes a lawman trying to bring down a career fentanyl-dealing criminal.
“Weigand’s conservative perspective is a useful counterpoint on a County Board that is now dominated by the far left and that too often spends its time and energy on fringe issues, such as attempting to remove the Pledge of Allegiance from the County Board agenda.” — Tim Kiefer, county board member, Waunakee.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Don’t call them “inmates.” They are “residents” of the Dane County jail. Which suggests that maybe we should call supervisors “residents of county government.”

One response to “How much more progressivism can you stand?”
“Or is diversity and inclusion only skin deep?”
Yes Virginia, Didn’t Earn It is only skin deep…despicable Lefty d!p$#!ttery goes all the way to the bone!
“They are ‘residents’ of the Dane County jail.“
If they’re ILLEGALS…does that mean they’re resident newcomers…?
